Job Market Approaching "DANGER ZONE" TOO MANY LAYOFFS

  • There are 2 big factors that will likely lead this current economy into recession. The commercial real estate nightmare and the rate at which unemployment continues to grow. If people don't have jobs, they cant pay their bills, which is something we are already seeing with all sorts of consumer delinquencies on the rise.

I recognize the hardships that come with economic struggles like unemployment, job loss, inflation, housing market instability, political uncertainties, and the global impact of conflicts and wars. Making ends meet during such times can be incredibly challenging. To navigate this difficult period, considering alternative job prospects, enhancing skills through online courses, and expanding your network can heighten the chances of securing employment. Moreover, prudent budgeting, exploring available financial aid programs, and seeking assistance from community organizations can offer some relief. How are you currently tackling these challenges? Have you implemented any specific strategies to cope?

It's often true that people underestimate the importance of financial advisors until they feel the negative effects of emotional decision-making. I remember a few summers ago, after a tough divorce, when I needed a boost for my struggling business. People are facing a tough retirement. and it's even harder for workers to save due to low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire in.

The increasing prices have impacted my plan to retire at 62, work part-time, and save for the future. Our central AC compressor went out. To replace the entire system (the condenser, coil, and replace the old furnace) we are getting quotes $12,000-$16,000. We decided to go and buy a handful of used small window units for $40-$60 each for the bedrooms and a $450 large window unit for the 1st floor of the house. We are just fine and are actually saving money on our electric bill by being able to control the AC on a per room basis. And best, we aren't having to shell out all of that money replacing the system. The furnace works just fine so we are good for the winter. Everything is so expensive now. My daughter moved from Colorado to California. When she lived in Colorado in a 2 bedroom apartment with central AC she could run her AC all day and night and never got an electric bill over $200/month.
Her first month in California she turned on her AC once for a few hours and her bill that month was almost $300! In this hot weather it’s much more and she keeps the AC off as much as possible. Fortunately her apartment is shaded much of the day.
Between the taxes and cost of living she estimates she and her fiancée are spending $1000/month more living in California. And the city they moved from, Boulder, Colorado isn’t inexpensive either.

I'm 31 working remotely as a mechanical engineer in Northern Bay Area and just recently finish aggresively paying off my student loans (roughly $100k total, paying $2-3k per month the last few years). My fiance is also an engineer (manufacturing - mandatory in-person) and even after diligently saving for 20% down payment, we would need to rely on both incomes indefinitely to sustain the mortgage which will be double our rent not including insurance and utilities. Idk how anybody my age without extremely wealthy parents can ever stand a chance at buying a home here when even our situation is inconceivable for starting a family (via home ownership). We also both drive cheap cars we paid for in cash and never hold credit card balances month-to-month, living as below our means as possible while witnessing all our friends financing expensive cars and going on expensive vacations all thru the year, eating out all the time - even bragging about not paying their student loans off thinking they'll be forgiven eventually (still). I understand all of this totally unsustainable, but being patient sure has felt like a spit in the face these last 4 years. I guess we'll just have to settle for being "Net Worth" stealth wealthy for the foreseeable future...

When my grandfather passed away last January had to stop everything I was doing to go take care of my family only to find out that they weren’t actually family treating me like shit and not being supportive and having me be the odd man out after the family and heading back to my hometown I was unemployed for over six months because I had to wait that long to get rehired when I looked at other jobs. There was too many red flags. Couple of them were wasting my time redirecting me everywhere and overall not giving me enough hours with the inflation. I used to job hop all the time and out of all of my years of working NEVER before in my life have I been unemployed for that amount of time now that says something about the economy. And it doesn’t matter what we vote for according to my calculations everything going on is not a left right issue or a geographic issue. It’s more so greedy people who have power and are ultra power hungry because when you look at California, there are more people that support Donald Trump and Joe Biden in California is the bluest state in America.
And yeah, anytime you’re in the bay area. It gets cold when I was there five years ago I remember when I was north of it towards Petaluma. It would be 95° but once I go past the tunnel towards the bay, it would plummet to 62° within five minutes , it’s really mind blowing to see the temperature change in such a short amount of time. I remember wearing a jacket in July and August and 2019 to Instacart in the bay area. I was living in San Diego at the time. With California try to push you into electric everything and having all of these unconstitutional laws it’s overwhelming in California is starting to look like a Third World country.
They want you to switch to “electrical everything“ is because in the electrical devices, they have more control of your device than you do and we all know how that goes especially with our phones and other tech gadgets they just want power.

There is a huge issue with pay, and its all because of over regulations, fuel costs double now for no good reason.. and insurance costs for most people... it is a huge cycle that only makes our costs and cost of goods higher, for what?! I have a degree and basic jobs i apply to rarely reply now... before I would always get replies, pre2021

@@dertythegrower pay issue is because of cutting taxes, a favorable tax code to capital over labor, too much spending, resulting in debasement of currency....wages never keep up

So called home value based on inflation. This Florida house and land I pay rent on AKA property tax is not worth the inflated value. When economy collapseses then the real value will be whatever the traffic will bear.Up to any buyer.

The level of inefficiency and corruption in this administration is becoming absurd. Those who are disabled and do not receive the support to which they are legally entitled make me sad. I sincerely thank you, Leah Foster Alderman. Imagine making $6k in four days with an investment of $1.5k.

That woman transformed my entire life for the better. Among the folks I've met, Leah appears to be the most trustworthy. I'm surprised you know her as well.

Hell no. They better not send out anymore money. Sending out more money means we have to pay for it later just like we are now. FUCK A STIMULUS

What about taking back the tax cuts Trump gave the wealthy and corporations? We had a balanced budget under Clinton. But then was involved/and paid for a 20 year war - that we were lied into. Nobody was screaming about deficits then.

They can't send money out even if they want to. The Federal government doesn't have any money to give, they have to borrow it, and now they really cant because rates are too high... there is zero chance .gov will be able to borrow money again for 10 years at 0.55%... to drive yields that low requires trillions of FED QE and they simply can not do that again or we will have 10% inflation in no time.
