It's not a terrible decision. You want enough damage to take early elites, and strikes do help early on, but at the same time you absolutely want to remove as many as you can get away with.
removing strikes when you have perfected strike is the correct choice if you're intending to get to the end of a run. perfected strike sucks and harming your deck to make a crappy card less crappy isnt a great strategy in the late game.

After not watching for a few months I expected to be wowed, to see a NL in peak STS performance. Methodical thought out turns, instead I get a man who removed two strikes after adding perfected strike. Never change egg
At the shop around 4:40 there was a perfect infite opportunity. Dropkick + dualwield + flash of steel = infinite. Especially when you have purity to push out unwanted cards. Not perfect, sure. But still a good shot at a workable infinite.
@Brick Studios there was an opportunity to get exhume as well increasing that infinite chance plus he got a rage that's even better. he could still put up at least 30 block a turn
Infinites on paper are really nice But on A20 reality they are too hard, expensive, and RNG based to work, and with the added spice of Fun eater ( and heart )
Hey NL, im really enjoying these videos. And when you get close I can actually feel the tension! I know you don't always make the "right" play and that you play too fast sometimes, but, I think that's part of what makes your wins so awesome and real
Always take evolve and metalized when given, especially with discount. I mean how often do you not need to block in a turn, and not get status cards from the enemy/ relic/ cards.
NL if only you knew that you needed to end that fight against the collector. You dumped 69 (haha funny number) onto his minion when if you attacked him it would of kept the run alive.
I definitely think NL's very "If it's going to be useful at all it'll have to be useful here" with Evolve, Juggernaut, and Entrench. Entrench really is only valuable in a Barricade deck. Evolve isn't a sure-fire solution to intentionally putting statuses in your deck. Obviously it's better than nothing, but you'd always just want to not have statuses in your deck at all (although with Immolate it's worth it). And, Juggernaut isn't inherently good unless you have like a Feel No Pain + Exhaust synergy already going. Definitely, he needs to take Offering more, especially with Whirlwind. The idea is that you spend 6 HP to hopefully save around that much or more later because you can kill enemies faster.

You're both wrong really. Eternal feather doesn't necessarily let you upgrade more just because you get health at each campfire. Most relics give you advantages during combat which should hopefully help you to stop losing HP in floor fights (if they don't, then what are they doing?). Eternal feather doesn't give you any benefit during combat, so whilst it heals you at each campfire, you will probably also be just making up for not having a relic which would have stopped you losing the HP in the first place.

I would say most cards tend to be better than them and as long as you've made your own additions then removing such cards can only mean an increase in your decks average damage or block. He doesn't understand that when you remove cards you'd rather not play that you allow the cards you desire to appear more frequently.

He plays this game a ton, even off camera. I think the only way he could "try harder" would be if he started looking up the meta by himself and learning the gameplay like that. And that to me sounds like it would make the game suck, and I feel like Northernlion would feel the same.
I see your point, but also, it’s really frustrating seeing him making consistently poor decisions. It doesn’t take hours of research and work to just develop a little more gamesense, and it would make for better runs to play, and to watch.

There's nothing wrong with trying to solicit advice from sources that could improve the level of play from the mode you're in. He used to do it all the time from TH-cam comments and Twitter, but now I think he either kind of stopped caring as much because he's been working on other projects or he thinks that since he's on asc 20 nobody in his comment section is qualified to give him advice anymore since he's at the highest difficulty level. Whatever it is he basically just needs to slow down more, but that's what people always tell him, that's what he never does, and that's mainly why he always loses.

Adding Perfected Strike in the first place is almost alway as mistake, also Combust. Yet NL thinks they are floor 1 staples DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH

@Brick Studios Reaching A3 bosses is still far better than most decks can hope to do on A20. Its well worth the risk.
