- Step by step guide on removing the rear subframe on a Z31. We took a different approach to the typical how-to video and explained it in detail with the parts out of the car. Hopefully this video helps somebody. Thanks for watching!

Great video! I have the service manual, but I'll definitely be referring to this video when I work on the rear suspension/subframe of my Z31. Cheers!
What is your plan for the ‘86 and older rear axle stub shafts and wheel bearings?

Using a 1/4 inch universal socket was the way I went about doing this removal. I put a 14mm socket on one end of the swivel and a 10 inch extension on the other. Then on the extension I put a 3/8 to 1/4 reducer which allowed me to use a 3/8 ratchet for more torque. Also it's a good idea to first put a tiny piece paper towel jammed into the 14mm socket so that it will hold on to the nut in the event you remove it entirely; you don't want it to fall down into the shock tower. This also will help immensely when replacing the nuts after the shocks are replaced.
at least you dont have to burn out the bushings like i did
oh we've had our fair share of burning out bushings for sure
