"Drowning Machines" are a very interesting thing to learn about, and they are one of those rare cases of physicists/engineers giving something a name that makes you exactly as scared as you need to be of it.
It's basically a rolling tube of water that doesn't disturb the surface, but is very powerful and if a person or boat touches it it will be sucked down and crushed and spun underwater with pretty much no chance of escape. They deliberately build Drowning Machine spots into dams and weirs so that they know where it is and they can put warnings around it, since whenever a lot of water changes elevation one *will* exist, if they don't build a deliberate Drowning Machine location, it will wander around downriver and just randomly destroy things and kill people. Possibly without being identified like in olden days before they found out what they are.
cave diving is terrifying man, there's a video online of a guy finding his friend's corpse, after it was missing for years, in a cave. when he tried to free the body from all the plants and stuff holding the corpse back its head fell off the body and you can see it floating in front of the camera for a few seconds. definitely worth having a sign there
there's a lot of good cave diving disaster stories on youtube as well, scary interesting covers a lot of them. a personal favorite is the devil's hole in death valley national park with the bottomless siphon hole that no man or scientist knows where it leads. scary shit
Yeah, my mom cave dives. She’s very good and very cautious, but it’s just something you try not to think about while they’re in the water. I must admit I was very happy when she had to cancel several expeditions during the pandemic 😅

The “do not open door after dark, look before opening door” is a door on an arctic research station. It’s cold after dark, and there are polar bears. Polar bears are not picky on what they hunt and kill, and are known to prowl around Arctic stations

Strangely, the definition of 'molest' is to bother someone and is not the same thing as sexually molesting but the sign (though unintended) still fits under the Florida context
So regarding to the drowning machine sign, it happens with I believe lower and faster dams. The speed of the water, and the way it swirls because of the water going down, causes it so spin so fast completely underwater, you won't be able to get out. So yeah, a drowning machine is gonna kill you if you get trapped in one. I live fairly close to one, so every so often, a kayaker or swimmer goes missing, and after a few months to a few years later, they kinda just wash up on shore, sometimes three or four mines down. They're interesting and beautiful, but incredibly deadly
The sign at 5:30 is an old, warn out sticker on a welding machine warning users about welding fumes because vaporized heavy metal inhalation is a thing in a welding shop.
I'm always surprised the amount of people that haven't seen these, but then remember I have probably placed over 100k of these on spools/drums of welding wire at work.

I don’t know who was transporting uranium or why but they had a long 10 hours to go to the nearest nuclear power plant. It also could’ve been stuff the radiologist at the university but that’s less fun.
They could have been taking it to a waste site or from a processing plant that refines it from deadly junk into usable fuel to the power plant. As long as it's in a lead and concrete box, it's mostly safe to go near. My high school is from the 1800s and they haven't had anyone come to inspect any of the possibly deadly chemicals in the science/biology closet for over 50 years because they're poor and scummy, that being said, there is a random concrete box in the storage closet between the science and biology rooms.........................

0:34 That sign genuinely makes me uneasy. It feels to me that it’s implying that some cryptid lives there and while you might be by yourself, that doesn’t necessarily mean you are alone.
(5:55) That sign is great, because people would otherwise just say "people die in this lake despite wearing lifejackets, 3 people have died despite wearing lifejackets", ignoring the over 100 who died not wearing one.
8:06 Holy shit I see that sign all the time I literally live close by to the road it’s on. Everytime I see that shit I get a damn heart attack, lemme tell you my anxiety ridden ass does not enjoy the constant looming threat of a slow and painful nuclear death at any moment
Funny story, I go on TH-cam at school during lunches, and sometimes I use the school's wifi. I tried to watch Kwite one day on the wifi since pretty much nothing is blocked on TH-cam. But Kwite is. Kwite is the only youtuber I have found that is actively blocked from my school
That death plug one kills linemen. People plug them in to backfeed through a breaker to power one of their split phases and don't turn their main principal off, and that backfeeds the pole or pad-mount transformer, which steps the voltage UP to thousands of volts. That's why so many utility companies require grounding both sides of a break before joining lines back up.
Feel that with the ride operator response. Closest I’ve came to “causing harm” was not tightening a seat restraint that I knew 1. probably wouldn’t tighten any further 2. was perfectly safe and inescapable Even got written up for it. We know when you’re safe and when you’re not, not you. The amount of people who forget or downright ignore safety announcements, signs, and just having common sense is surprising
8:43 It’s a common sign in fast food places. There was once a violent robbery where the robbers knocked on the door to get in. When the employees opened the door, they robbed the place at gunpoint. It eventually led to 2 people dying, and one being shot but living. Sorry I don’t have details, I don’t fully remember the story, but I do remember finding an actual criminal case for why that sign is there.
7:10 here is a fun thing I learned in colledge: ANYTHING can be a condensator. If you have two coins of different metals like 10 cents and 1 euro between a sheet of paper - it's a condensator. If you have two metal plates sitting next to eachother separated by air - its a condensator. If you have two power lines separated by air and even thick non conductive protection - it's a condensator, if you give them a lot of energy and bring them together they will connect through all of the protection (because protection and air have electrons too) and it will make a lightning. It looks and sounds amazing and it's deadly.
My diving instructor actually had me go past a sign like this one ( 3:05 ) during my advanced open water diving certification, I almost had a panic attack under water 😊
not so fun fact: There's a cave underwater somewhere which is full of corpses in various states of decay. This is because it's basically a death sentence to go in there, and even the best divers won't go in to retrieve the bodies, because nobody who has gone in has ever come out. I think it's since been sealed with a grate nailed into the walls, but there's still a bunch of bodies in that hole.
@@mobi4482 pretty sure its cuz of the pressure change/tempature change and/or too dark to get out. It could also be that it's a maze? I honestly don't know, but that's all that could make sense imo. I have never seen or been in a underwater cave nor even a cave, but im sure the air is different there, maybe?
Bro... do you know how little that narrows it down? cave diving is one of the most deadly sports/activities you can do. There are hundreds if not thousands of caves like that
In my city, this is sort of like the literal version of our construction signs. By the time you see them, you're already surrounded by other cars, and the detour sign points backwards, you're at a malfunctioning light that's blinking yellow and red, and there's some guy across the construction yelling at a construction worker. I blame the city tbh.
2:45 They didn't make a machine specifically for drowning, the term "drowning machine" refers to the currents that naturally form in front of low head dams, which make it impossible to escape from the water.
The zoo sign reminded me of the werribee zoo (Victoria, Australia) signs, which have a tiger / hippo / lion / whatever animal the enclosure is for: biting off a body part. They scarred me as a child.
5:31 That sign is for chemical spills that release toxic fumes, from the violence shown in the warning, it's probably chemicals that cause acute lung damage, such as phosgene; a chemical which has fumes that if inhaled in quantity- will liquefy your lungs where you stand
i’ve actually seen the sign at 2:55! it is in a place called the Devil’s Den, and ofc, it’s in Florida. i found it compelling and entertaining so i did indeed obey the sign
5:35 is actually a warning sign for welding, it is used in a lot of different contexts but in the collage i went to for welding it was used to tell people to not weld to close to the flammable high-pressure gas canasters. Edit: I have also seen the gory bit of it on shooting ranges telling you not to cross the safe firing line.
9:23 what if for some reason I lose count or count wrong and don't leave because I thought I heard 7 or 9 short blasts? I don't trust myself to keep track properly.
How many of us are ACTUALLY going to need a lawyer? We're all people who sit inside all day watching TH-cam ☠️ Nevertheless, props to you for getting that sponsorship!
btw molesting (unless specifically talking about the sexual act) usually just means messing or disturbing something. basically the sign says don't feed or wrestle the alligators
the De ja vu sign is so true I got into a car accident a couple days ago (no one got hurt) and when i was in the ditch I remember being there before and watching a truck be stuck for over 20 mins having my head against the window and everything just watching the trucks wheels turn with no traction to the road it was crazy I think I dream about the future sometimes. You know the theory that dreams are alternate realities I believe in that and one of my alternate realities collided into mine. I can basically dream the future fear me
Pretty sure the sign about 8 short blasts is for a dam, and if you hear the siren it means the damn failed. Which IMO is almost as terrifying as the original ambiguity.
Actually Kwite, I too have noticed a lot of game UI fonts in reality. I recognize ythat font from Sonic Heroes, but my favorite example is the fact I keep seeing the fonts used in Doom 2016's UI everywhere.
One of my favorite signs is “Do Not use the squat rack if you have had diarrhea in the past 3-7 hours” cause you know damn well someone had to be the cause of that. 😂
8:43 , as someone who works at a TacoBell, I’m pretty sure that’s a TacoBell from the style of the stuff sitting near the door. Except at my store the lil window opens upwards, and I like to jokingly look through it before I open the door even if I know who’s on the other side. lol
I get that but, take this with a grain of salt, that’s used in Artic Bases. For one it’s extremely cold, and obviously prone to blizzards. Along with that, polar bears can sometimes hang around the bases looking for food and warmth, so that window is there so they know if there is a blizzard, polar bear, or any other dangerous anomaly
10:43 Im pretty sure theres another image of this sign where its above a road that passes by it and below a cliff immediately beyond that road you see an entire city of houses built near the coast... like a good 200ft below that sign.
5:54 the fact I might know the exact lake this sign is from is… idk kinda strange. There’s a lake i used to live near that had that exact sign, down to the numbers.
One of my Mom's friends is a cave diver... his set up is insane. He showed me his helmet, PFD, and tank - they were completely torn up and they were only a few weeks old. 0-0 I'm all for scuba diving, but I will never cave dive.

@@King0fKyles damn, rip.
4:32 kinda reminds me of that “You do not recognize the bodies in the water” SCP thing
I wonder if someone made a SCP about it, the sign that is
That death plug one kills linemen. People plug them in to backfeed through a breaker to power one of their split phases and don't turn their main principal off, and that backfeeds the pole or pad-mount transformer, which steps the voltage UP to thousands of volts. That's why so many utility companies require grounding both sides of a break before joining lines back up.
is it just me or is kwite extra edible on this fine tuesday
i thought it was just me who noticed!
Feel that with the ride operator response.
Closest I’ve came to “causing harm” was not tightening a seat restraint that I knew
1. probably wouldn’t tighten any further
2. was perfectly safe and inescapable
Even got written up for it.
7:10 here is a fun thing I learned in colledge:
ANYTHING can be a condensator.
A lot of those signs like the "evacuate if you hear 8 short blasts" feel similar to the creepypasta There's Something Wrong With Chimney 7.
My diving instructor actually had me go past a sign like this one ( 3:05 ) during my advanced open water diving certification, I almost had a panic attack under water 😊
not so fun fact:
There's a cave underwater somewhere which is full of corpses in various states of decay.
This is because it's basically a death sentence to go in there, and even the best divers won't go in to retrieve the bodies, because nobody who has gone in has ever come out.
I think it's since been sealed with a grate nailed into the walls, but there's still a bunch of bodies in that hole.
Why is it a death sentence tho? Is it one of those cave with underwater lakes or something?
@@mobi4482 pretty sure its cuz of the pressure change/tempature change and/or too dark to get out. It could also be that it's a maze?
I honestly don't know, but that's all that could make sense imo. I have never seen or been in a underwater cave nor even a cave, but im sure the air is different there, maybe?
@@wingficwithoutwingswhat’s the cave called? Sounds like a fun deep dive, haha. Seriously
Though, that’s awful but sounds extreme interesting.
Bro... do you know how little that narrows it down?
cave diving is one of the most deadly sports/activities you can do.

9:11, that sign about falling debris is a construction sign in cites when they building taller building
2:45 They didn't make a machine specifically for drowning, the term "drowning machine" refers to the currents that naturally form in front of low head dams, which make it impossible to escape from the water.
This is really interesting! Thanks for sharing!
I was looking for this comment
@@ctobree5252same but I though the hydraulic jump happened after the low head dam
10:34 its the font Nier: Automata i think
"If you fall in the pond, you will be boiled." Sounds like a Saw trap that polluted a small pond, causing all living things in it to die.
That poor sign had a family and kids. They can't see them anymore.
the drowning machine is actually a super interesting thing that happens with the current which makes it impossible to swim out of should you fall in
Not the Morgan and Morgan sponsorship 💀💀💀
i’ve actually seen the sign at 2:55! it is in a place called the Devil’s Den, and ofc, it’s in Florida. i found it compelling and entertaining so i did indeed obey the sign

The sign that was talking about 8 short blasts is talking about a dam failure, because usually, if 8 short blasts occur, it is a dam breaking/failure.
9:23 what if for some reason I lose count or count wrong and don't leave because I thought I heard 7 or 9 short blasts? I don't trust myself to keep track properly.
If you hear a blast, just head on out. Works for most things.
That diving sign is there for a very good reason, that specific cave has claimed a lot of lives.
How many of us are ACTUALLY going to need a lawyer? We're all people who sit inside all day watching TH-cam ☠️
Nevertheless, props to you for getting that sponsorship!
I have to listen to TH-cam at work, that I drive to.
someone said that they ran over their cat because they were watching kwite while pulling out of their driveway, so it probably makes sense honestly

btw molesting (unless specifically talking about the sexual act) usually just means messing or disturbing something. basically the sign says don't feed or wrestle the alligators
the De ja vu sign is so true I got into a car accident a couple days ago (no one got hurt) and when i was in the ditch I remember being there before and watching a truck be stuck for over 20 mins having my head against the window and everything just watching the trucks wheels turn with no traction to the road it was crazy I think I dream about the future sometimes. You know the theory that dreams are alternate realities I believe in that and one of my alternate realities collided into mine. I can basically dream the future fear me
No,cause so can i

You'll likely find many Japanese games that have a font close to this.

Pretty sure the sign about 8 short blasts is for a dam, and if you hear the siren it means the damn failed. Which IMO is almost as terrifying as the original ambiguity.
At that point you probably should have seen some other signs before getting to the your dead sign. Love your content.
Did not expect the lawyer sponsorship

Im pretty sure theres another image of this sign where its above a road that passes by it and below a cliff immediately beyond that road you see an entire city of houses built near the coast... like a good 200ft below that sign.
