      Of course, I would try it! When buying skin care products, I easily get to $75. I get excited by the free samples. But a free treatment, especially one that exfoliates and hydrates, is a no-brainer!

      Dan Jamil with all due respect these people are certified, and some color consultants do not have to be, they usually use the color match which could be off and also some foundations oxidize. Don’t be so quick to judge

    There are so many red flags about getting a facial at sephora. They don't even have running water so how sanitary can things actually be? Plus they are using tester products on you. Lastly, I would never trust a facialist who puts a full face of makeup on you immediatley after. Also they aren't licensed estheticians or cosmotologists and a big part of becoming and esthetician is learning about proper sanitation.

      In my state NJ the job description clearly is titled Licenced Beauty Advisor

  • @missshannel2184
    @missshannel2184 6 ปีที่แล้ว +491

    I am a Licensed Esthetician - I am hoping that this “treatments” ( because its not a facial ) are being provided by licensed skin professionals. Moreover, I hope that Sephora is giving a skin consultation with these treatments ( which was not shown in the video ) - How are products selected? Are there any reasons why this service would be rejected etc? Everything that glitters isnt gold - smh

    • @rinoula1997
      @rinoula1997 6 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Miss Tanner yes they are certified. The clients tell them what their skin concerns are and what their goals are and the Sephora skincare consultant chooses based off of your concern. This service is good for all skin types, do your research before shaking your head

    • @missshannel2184
      @missshannel2184 6 ปีที่แล้ว +89

      Irene Mamagakis I did my research and will continue to shake my head. I called my local Sephora and learn that there skin advisor are trained through a Sephora program that has not been approval by the board of cosmetology which regulates licensed beauty professionals. Moreover, there is a difference between certified and licensed. I am a licensed esthetician which means I can legally practice esthetics or provide skin care treatments to the public. There is a reason why the board of cosmetology requires licensure in order to practice. Sephora is operating outside of there scope.

    • @katsnbooks
      @katsnbooks 6 ปีที่แล้ว +85

      Irene Mamagakis as a Sephora employee and certified esthetician. I can assure you we are not all certified lol. I’m the only one at my location with a true license. They are only trained by Sephora. And it bothers me even as an employee that they would let people non certified attempt a machine facial of all things. It can get dangerous. There’s a reason there is schooling for estheticians. Not everyone can just do it.

    • @awarenessvillage
      @awarenessvillage 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      In Nevada, I doubt Sephora-certified would be allowed. The cosmetolgy licensing board and Department of Health is very strict with those kinds of things. I could imagine this would vary by state.

    • @joiemassen2905

      It was also in the foundation spf20

    • @mmt2667
      @mmt2667 6 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Just wanted to note that I know the makeup had SPF 20, but you need to apply a quarter teaspoon in order to get the stated SPF. You wouldn't be able to apply that much foundation to your face b/c you wouldn't be able to rub the pigment in. Also, that $110 bottle would last you about 24 days if you used the correct amount for sunscreen protection. If you're looking for sun protection, you should always use a separate sunscreen and consider sunscreen in makeup as a bonus. Wayne Goss did a quick video where he tries to apply the amount of foundation needed to get the stated SPF coverage (and it wasn't pretty): th-cam.com/video/a50PitNmpIE/w-d-xo.html

    • @joiemassen2905

    So boom I’ve had a facial at a Sephora location ( I’m a Daredevil)
    Staff sanitized the area before starting
    NOW the person that was with me was licensed and works for DR DENNIS GROSS
    THAT MEANS SHE DID NOT WORK FOR SEPHORA
    She did not use testers on me everything was new in travel size
    Now as far at the machine Sephora staff sanitized it!
    The ball/suction piece are attachments
    They are not using the same thing on everyone
    I believe it’s all where you go
    Luckily I had a good experience
    And hope this helps someone

    Was she an esthetician? If not Sephora is about to get into loads of trouble for offering facials to customers via a normal employee. Would you go to someone who isn’t licensed to get a haircut? NO! There are many laws that are being broken

    • @Beckwolf
      @Beckwolf 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      No laws broken. It's illegal to provide this service from unlicensed individuals if it comes with a charge. The service is free with purchases over $75, thereby skirting the direct cost laws by tying it only to purchases of other products.

    Not sure about other states, but in N.Y., they are probably getting away with not using licensed estheticians because the customers are technically not paying for the facial. They are buying the products. It's like makeup applications at department stores

    Hi I tried it today. I was surprised to see the impurities. The Sephora skincare specialist who suggested me this facial (after my $200 purchase) was really nice, she said they will do make up on my face after the treatment. But the specialist who did my facial said they can’t do makeup because it will cause breakouts. It was a little bit confusing. I feel like they avoided my makeup maybe? 🙄 but overall, my skin feels so soft and hydrated.

    Are they licensed estheticians? Your skin is beautiful 💕

    • @Mianne_chan
      @Mianne_chan 6 ปีที่แล้ว +128

      Thank you!!!! No the consultants aren't licensed, they are trained by Sephora! They don't do any extractions!

    • @ninjalove4ever10113
      @ninjalove4ever10113 6 ปีที่แล้ว +139

      As a licensed Esthetician: using a machine ,such as the perk machine, that has a suction strong enough to extract things from the skin is not really recommended. You run the risk of breaking capillaries, and leaving hickies. You should use a machine with a weaker suction and then do manual extractions. You should use the weak suction to plump the skin temporarily and loosen all the built up dead skin and sebum. But this woman did a really good job! ❤️

      ninjalove4ever10113 omg right! As an esthetician as well this makes me cringe! A bunch of us on Facebook are talking about how horrible of an idea this was!

    • @ninjalove4ever10113
      @ninjalove4ever10113 6 ปีที่แล้ว +44

      acacia walls honestly! I mean don’t get me wrong its a good thing more people are getting interested in skin care, I just don’t think it’s a super great idea to have unlicensed employees with no background with esthetics using a machine to this caliber or giving “facials”. But that’s just my opinion💅🏻

    • @phoebea5200
      @phoebea5200 6 ปีที่แล้ว +51

      as an aesthetician this freaks me out! We had to go through so much schooling and training on sanitizing and different strains of bacteria, infection control, anatomy, physiology, histology of the skin, chemistry, skin types, cosmetic and skincare ingredients and how they interact with each other and your skin and the list goes on and on. This girl seems like she’s really nice. But if someone else is careless and doesn’t have knowledge on all these things, someone is going to get hurt 😬

    I actually went to go get a facial at my local ulta a couple days ago. It was 6 out of 10 I was laying down very comfortable & relaxed I went on a Tuesday when its dead. I paid $38 they used the brand Dermalogica there products are nice & smell good. The only thing some stuff did irritated my skin while getting the facial .I didn't get a allergic reaction or anything.. overall it was okay. .

    are those testers being used on the face?

    • @finaarmania1173
      @finaarmania1173 6 ปีที่แล้ว +222

      YES. It's disgusting. I got my makeup done at sephora once and was shocked to see the lady using testers on me. They try to spray somethings with alcohol first, but that doesn't do much. PLUS things like moisturizers have people dipping their fingers in them all day on display, its so gross and unsanitary.

    • @rinoula1997
      @rinoula1997 6 ปีที่แล้ว +130

      A tester from inside the bottle is fine- no one ever makes contact with the actual product. I tester of a product that you are able to touch is a different story

    • @leticiat1601
      @leticiat1601 6 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      no they have a different hygienic one that's made to be used for this type of facial meaning that they're hygienic and has only been touched by the facialist.

    • @kaileighbeaty
      @kaileighbeaty 6 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      They shouldnt be using store testers. At Ulta the estheticians have their own supply that the store scans out for the purpose of facials and the esthetician only dips in the products with disposable spatulas etc. I would only hope sephora does the same

Now, I have to go back to the drawing board and write a new 10 page paper with a 10 minute video by Thursday. Seriously couldn’t wait until June to launch it. FML 😂😂😂
