    Hi Today Fam! While I am deep diving into my own cleaning routines, I am seeing a few things that I (we) probably could do better. How many "mistakes" did you have and how many "savers" are you already doing?
    I also got passionate toward the end...but you NEED to hear it! I am here for you. Let me know how I can help!!!

    I hang a clean dish towel inside the door of my dishwasher when the cycle is done. It absorbs the moisture clinging to the dishes. I may have to blot a little water from items that don’t have flat bottoms, but otherwise dishes are dry

    Hello my sweet friend. These are all great trips- I keep shaking my head in agreement lol. I’ve been rocking my routines lately and you are a big factor in that. ❤ Oh and btw I tried the oven/plastic wrap trick today and WOW, it worked awesome! I’m going to make one of my kiddos a birthday cake but I still had pie ooze in the bottom of the oven from Easter. Thanks for always encouraging us, teaching us and most of all, praying for us. Love you my friend!

      Yay! I was amazed that the cling wrap worked so well. I hate to scrub and it was 1000% easier I felt. Super happy to hear you've found your groove to rock the housework! It feels so good when you see progress and I love that I get to see it.

    I do not iron. Most things today are made to go from the clothesline on to your back. I do hang them carefully! The last 3 things i have ironed were curtains. That is in 13 years.

    I don't know anything about having a dishwasher. But if i have one of those days where i won't wash up at night, in the morning, i run a sink full of hot soapy water and stick the dishes in it to soak. I do part of my morning routine, maybe even have brekky. Then, the dishes have practically washed themselves!. I finish it off and shine up my sink.

    I try to run my dishwasher soon after dinner, so it finishes before I go to bed. That way, if I open it soon after it finishes, dishes dry quickly.

    Terri, I got excited this morning, because My hubby came up with what sounds like a genius idea last night after I made him sit and watch a comedian talk about life with his ADHD wife. The quirrel syndrome and over-thinking is real for me. I seriously easily get pulled away from a task by both external and internal distractions, and I do believe that contributes a lot to why things take so long for me to get done. Timers don't help me a whole lot, because when I feel super rushed, my pain flares up. They work when I need to make sure I don't burn down the house lol. In fact, they're necessary then lol. They sometimes work for telling me when a break is over .
    Anyway, we were talking about how difficult it is for me to stay focused on my main priority task at any given time while I'm also getting other little things done (i .e., making dinner as main focus, while also cleaning up and feeding the animals, and deciding when to ignore the pets' demands and when to take care of it or to ask for help. Etc). IT is so easy for me to get started on a task that needs my focus, go take care of an interruption, come back and forget where i left off or what I was supposed to do next.
    Do you know what he said? He said I need a reminder kind of like the string on the finger reminder. But like a different bracelet for every single task that I do in a day. It can be a different color, or I can just write the task on a piece of paper, and tape it to the bracelet. I crochet, so I do have extra yarn. So I could crochet some, or do what I'm going to try, which is learn to macrame some bracelets.
    Anyway, he said, the idea is to have 2 different containers of some type, one for tasks to be done, and the other for completed tasks. Put those 2 containers (baakets. Jars, small bowls, whatever) in my most central command area of the house (on my case. It's the kitchen table. Every morning. All of the bracelets start out in the "Do" container. I can make a game out of it, and blindly pick out a bracelet, or do a hunt in the container for the task I want to do next, and wear that one until that task is complete, regardless of what distracrions II have, or what other little tasks I want to lump with it. That bracelet doesn't come off until that task is complete. Once it is complete, I can take it off and put it in the "DONE" container and pull out another one. I can award myself 10 points for each task done, regardless of the time or energy that goes into it. Once I've completed 10 tasks, I can reward myself 1 hr (or however long I decide) of doing whatever I want. And I was just thinking, if I pull one out of the container and I've already done it while I worked on another task, I can put it in the "Done" container. I can use my control journal lists as my guide for what braceletes to make. Also, I just thought, I can have zip lock bags for morning, afternoon, evening, zone cleaning, and Focus tasks. And each morning, as I start my morning routine, I can put all my morning routine bracelets and put tgem in the "Do" container, and pick them out and do them one at a time until my morning routine is complete, once my morning routine is done, and I have my day planned, I would put my morning routine bracelets back in their bag, and take out the afternoon bracelets and repeat the process. The afternoon bracelets would include my to-do's and routines for the day . But my to-do's would be numbered instead of named since they don't always repeat. I can use my whiteboard and planner to remind me WHICH to-do I'm focusing on, if I forget. But looking at the bracelet will remind me that I'm working on a To-Do.
    Anyway, when we suggested 5 of bracelets as a reminder, I just got so excited! I know it's like training a child, but it seriously resognates with me right now. I have lots of visual and audio sensory cues to help me, but to have a touch sensory cue like that, would internalise it a little bit.
    So what I'm going to do, is make 1 bracelet...hopefully by the end of the day, or tomorrow at latest...to help me really strengthen my eveningl routine. l'm getting better at my consistancy with after dinner clean-up, but I don't have it as a strong habit yet. As much as I want to make after-dinner clean-up a stronger habit, my fiirst bracelt will be "make dinner" (which includes feeding the fur kids). Making dinner is such a challenge for my brain because it's the time when I get distracted and pulled away the most (morning is second), so making dinner always takes way longer than it should, whether I do any prep work before hand or not.
    All that to say, I haven't tried this bracelet system yet, so I can't say from personal experience whether or not it will work. However, I think it will be worth a try. I'll make one bracelet at a time, and not make a new one until I'm used to using the first one, kind of like the baby steps approach.
    I wanted to share that with you and other viewers of your channel, one, for support, and two, in case this is a tip that would help someone else. I think it will help reduce the emotional (particularly the negative emotions) attachment to getting all the things done, make it a game, and help internalise my current focus at any given time...which would help get things done sooner, reduce over-thinking and procrastination. Also, you don't have to make bracelets. You can get cheap bracelets in various colors, or even medical bracelets.

      So I'm scrapping the making tge bracelets and starting with one of my scunci's. I'll practice on yge making dinner routine for a week or 2. If it helps, we'll irder a whole bunch of different colored ones lol

      @TodaywithTerriK  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Wow, that’s such a cool idea! I seriously love it. Sounds like your hubby knew what would work for you. That is such a compliment. Please let us know how it goes. I love it!!!

    • @lovefortruth3414
      @lovefortruth3414 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @TodaywithTerriK ok ..sooo...I'm using this one scunci for more than just dinner time madness so far. Right now, I'm using it for general categories of tasks (i.e., tidying, pet car, personal care, quiet time.l, etc). I'm just wearing until I complete one category. Then I'm putting it in the Done jar, thinking about what I want or need to fo next. Pivking it out again and wearing it for that next thing or things. Every time I look at it, I'm reminding myself which task or tasks I'm focusing on. If I decide to take a break, I'm taking the scunci off and setting am alarm or timer.
      I've been thinking I would only use this method in the house. But, a tyslly, it would probably be a good idea to use it when I run errands, too. I can easily get caught up in conversation, or get blissfully lost in all the "things" I see in any store lol. I wouldn't have to have it visible if I didn't want to. The darned thing can be slid all the way up my arm so thst it's hidden under a sleeve. I will still have the feeling of something there to remind me. That may or may not work, but I could try it. And, if ai'm running more than one errand, I could put it in my purse when zi finish one errand, and take it out again and out it on when I get in the far to head to the next errand. Thst woukd get me in the habit of switching to a different colored scunci once I get more of the. It sounds complicated, but in my mind. I can picture it being pretty simple.

    Hi Terri! Thanks so much for this!! Your videos are great, but I just wanted to let you know that the cards you’ve added don’t link to your videos. Can you please fix that? It’s also super helpful when you link the videos you mention in the description. 😊I hope I don’t come off critical! My heart is to help. If it were my video, I’d want to know.
    I’ve heard of Fly Lady before, but like you’ve mentioned in other videos, it looks overwhelming. I’m also a skeptic in general. But you’ve convinced me! I’m gonna try her routines! Here goes! 🤞

    I spray Dawn Powerwash on my dishes and let them marinate until 9 pm and rinse them off--it gives ne down time with hubby. We have free electricity after 9 pm and then I run my dishwasher.

      That is genius! Why did I forget my Powerwash??? I use delay on the dishwasher so it kicks on around 11 or so. Give the teens a chance to bring down their dishes if they have any in their rooms. Most states have reduced electricity rates on "off" times. It's amazing to have free times!

    So on the sponge subject you can clean and even boil them and soak and disifect a sponge it's a wasted money paying 5 dollars for a sponge use one time throw out I reuse mine a few times I just make Shure mines soaked in vinegar or bleach and water washed out in soap rinsed and rang out good mines never smelled but I don't keep them for long but I deffently don't buy and use and throw away

    • @TodaywithTerriK
      @TodaywithTerriK  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      i'm so excited about this.

    • @lovefortruth3414
      @lovefortruth3414 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Me too! Hubby ordered a bunch of coil bracekets and matching tags. The idea is to start off with all of the day's bracekts on your wrist to start. You're supposed yo get annoyed but them enough to want to take them off. But the rule is,you have to complete a task before taking one off. I don't loke that because it defeats hubby's and my whole purpose for it as a gentle reminder to stay on task with a main task, for when I get side-tracked. So. I found a tray while de-cluttering yesterday, that is divided into 3 sections...start, in progress, and done. So when I check my planner and plan my day, I'll start by putting all of my Morning routine bracelets in the section. The goal is to only wear 1 braceket at a time. So, if I start a task, and it's one that requires multiple steps that as te done at different times, I can put it in the IN Progress section and pick up another bracele for another task, and so on. When my morning is over, I'll tally up alk DONE tasks, and any that are in progress stay in the in progress se rion, and any not started will dtay in the START se tion. All others will go back into my morning routine bag. I 'll repeat the process for afternoon, evening g, and my to-do's.

    • @lovefortruth3414
      @lovefortruth3414 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @TodaywithTerriK I'm not techy enough to send the links to the videos I saw, bit if you search "ADHD task bracelets methods on TH-cam, you will find several videos ftom people using this basic method, and how they modifid or added to it for their personal use.

    • @lovefortruth3414
      @lovefortruth3414 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @TodaywithTerriK they cane in today, and I set up my tags for making dinner, getting ready for bed, and the ones for my morning personal care. I'll start with those during my routines, abd get used to using them for at least a few day. Then I'll start adding more.

    • @lovefortruth3414
      @lovefortruth3414 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ok, scratch that. I set up all my main routine, focus and Zone ckeaning tags and five head first onto using this method yesterday. I really liked it! My only complaint right mow. Is that I have more tags thsn bracekets, so I'm putting lots of tags on each bracelet. I have 6 different colored braceltez with 5 bracelets per color (30), and I have the same 6 color rags but 8 tags per color. My bracelets represent 5 zones (yes, I broke them down into 5 instead of 4), plus my Flex zone. Each task represents a category that its task is in (cleanin/yard work, pet care, personal care, etc). So, each week, I'm using a different color set of bracelets to remind myself whst zone I'm in, and each bracelet has either mirning. Afternoon, evening, focus or to do tags on it.
      So, the upside is, the bracelets are helping me focus...a lot. The downside is, the tags are mot super easy to put 9n and take off (easier to take iff), and who has time to fidget with putting them back on the bracelets every morning? Lol. Plus, my goal is to focus on 1-3 tasks at a time, so 1-3 tags at a time, hence 1 tag oer bracelet. So. Hubby is going to ioder me one more set of bracelets for now, so that I only have to remove and replace back on the tags when I switch zones once a week.
