I live and worked as a news photo journalist in Miami for many years, and covered many hurricanes.
The one thing you should "not do" is walk in standing water!
Powerlines could be submerged, and might be charged.
I reported on an entire famliy that got electrocuted, while walking in standing water.
During Hurricane Andrew, my crew, and myself all got shocked (standing water) as we went LIVE on the air!
Dropped my camera, reported dropped the mic, while our Live truck operator jumped from his truck.
    Please check powerlines in water!

why do all the news people exaggerate things to make it seem like the worst event ever?
i can understand people feed off tragedy and more views=more money but how about
some "news" of the good things that resulted? y not try and lift peoples spirits up rather
than trying to leave them staring at the tv with their jaws dropped. consider the people
who are directly effected by all this.

All the local news on Sunday from sun up till midnight was out looking for flooding and destruction. In San Diego it was just a steady rain with no wind from very early Sunday am till a 5 pm. Nothing major, typical idiots crashing when it rains. Sunday night we got 20 mph winds till 10 pm. Not much west of the mountains. East of the mountains the washes flooded like any rain event.

Is it possible water and mud could lubricate faults?

    • @alexaneals8194
      @alexaneals8194 ปีที่แล้ว +1

No, the water coming down in Southern Cal is not likely to soak into the soil that quickly. Most of the areas there are desert or semi-arid and the ground doesn't absorb water as quickly as in areas where it rains frequently. Besides, the fault is at the bedrock layer, it would take quite some time for water to reach it.

My town got the most rainfall in all of Los Angeles county - 6” in 24 hours. The earthquake’s epicenter was about 25 miles from away. It was a big surprise! We were so focused on the storm that an earthquake was the last thing we were worried about. Ha! Mother Nature was having some fun with us, “If you think this rain is bad, let me show you how it could be worse!” It was just a little rolling motion, no violent jerks like we’ve had before. The rain finally stopped around 3am and then the wind kicked in - hard! I was watching the root soaked big ass trees around my house, nervously, until the wind stopped. Thankfully, the trees didn’t fall, our house is still standing, though it’s soaked. We discovered a bad leak and have a lot of damage, but nobody is hurt and the sun’ll come out tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow there’ll be sun 🌞

I’m sure the majority of them got out safely and went somewhere safe! 👍 If not and they chose to ignore the evacuation warnings and stay behind … well then, that’s their OWN problem! 😒 So far from what I hear, only one poor individual died near Baja after their vehicle was swept away in a flood…💔😔

You are not hearing a thing from them reason:: because they all are hypocrites they are afraid to speak up because big business has bought them off. Jesus warned us about those church leaders. See Matt:: 24:5
Everything you see happening in this world today is right there in the Books if Revelations and Daniel. One would have thought the churches would have being hammering this in they services and any form or preaching asking us to prepare. You are not hearing a word.

95% of SoCal just got a lot of rain and a few hours of wind. Nothing bad especially east of the mountains. Areas that had mud slides are much less populated and are expected. In the desert streets are built to channel the water and will flood. The washes are expected to flood, that’s what it’s for.
I’m glad the city county and state was prepared but the news was non stop death and destruction for 4-5 days ahead of this storm and for 95% of the the people it’s no big deal. For example we get Santa Ana winds in the fall and winter up to 70 mph and the 22-23 winter we had had a few days of lots of rain. No big hype on the news for those weather events.
I’m not sure why the schools are closed. But the kids are happy.
Anyway this storm really had no impact except to make shopping on Sunday nice cause fewer people were on the road.
Thank you all first responders and you city workers keeping the storm drains clear.

Our vegetables even come wrapped in plastic half the time. Our hiking gear all has harmful PFAs in it. Every basic garden spray or beauty product has harmful toxins in them. Our food is fake and full of fake, excessive sugars. We burn gas and diesel and pump areosols from HVAC systems and other things into the environment. Massive industrial plants nearby to major riverways across the world. Destroyed land for agricultural purposes. The list does not end.
