      It was my 14th birthday! I was hating my first month of high school, but I can't explain to you how amazing Austin finally giving McMahon (who was legitimately one of the greatest HEELS EVER) what he deserved.

    Another great episode. Always great to hear backstories of things that we may not have known happened during these classic eras.

    I lived in Albany at the time and I had tickets for the next night's raw taping at the Knickerbocker Arena for the following week. That was the go home show for Bad Blood. It was the last time I would ever see Brian pillman perform. And it was that Raw where the crowd was chanting obscenities at Shawn Michaels calling him a certain f word that resulted in him mouth kissing Triple H.

    Was not at one night only in October 97, was at mayhem in Manchester in April 98. I would of loved to of seen Shawn and Davey live with Davey winning,two of the top guys from the era I didn't manage to see live. Didn't attend lots of shows,but a few looking back really were loaded up with talent so I was lucky from that point of view

      Also looking back,bulldog should of gone over allowing Shawn to regain in the states leading to a rubber match in 98. Scenario would of fitted all parties, even though it still wouldn't of played out like that in the end

    Why is the Jr and Biker shorts HBK promo always discussed? We already know Bruce and Jrs thoughts on it. There’s other HBK promos during that time that can be analyzed.

      Because its an example of Shawn Michaels doing this that would get ANYONE fired but him! Plus, JR and Conrad both agree that is what made the Attitude Era, which I disagree with.
      Bret shoving Vince on his ass started the Attitude Era, and even before that, Brest tussling with Vince at the announce table exposed who Vince really was.

    In Shawn’s mind he got white hot over Bret. In the real world, Shawn just whines to Vince after their real fight and Vince had to make a choice. He went with the younger guy who he had a closer relationship with. Shawn complained about being a baby face, unsafe working conditions, and Bret making double the money shawn made. So what happened? Vince turned him heel, put him with his real life friend hhh, and they got rid of Bret’s contract. Honestly Austin surpassed both of them and headed into that mania it was all about Austin, McMahon and Tyson. Really didn’t matter if it was Shawn or Bret who’d drop it Austin. If you watch raw and all pay per views upon Bret’s return in 1996, Vince began screwing him, trying to bury him so he’d lose his value. Probably because of Bret deciding if he wanted to take wcw or wwfs offer and built up a bidding war between the two in the fall of 1996

    I disagree about the wrestling history changing if Ausitn doesn't get dropped on his head. Things stay the same regardless. They were clearly building a Bret and Shawn altercation for Survival Series and they clearly didn't want to anoint Austin as champion until WM14.

      Your missing huge massive points here: If not for the screwjob we might not have got Austin vs McMahon which ended the nitro streak on April 13th 1998 and ended up with the WWF ultimately winning the war. Also had Austin not got dropped on his head the WWF wouldnt have had to have to find ways to keep Austin at the forefront by having him attack authority figures so had they not had him do that they might not have discovered the awesome chemistry with Austin and McMahon and had them start their feud properly the night after WrestleMania XIV which was the angle that put the WWF back on top in the ratings. Not to mention the fact that had Bret stayed maybe the WWF wouldnt have hired Tyson whos pull apart with Austin on the January 19th 1998 Raw the night after Royal Rumble set the momentum rolling for the WWF. Shawn back on the casket too jeez so many things could have been different so many ifs and maybes,fascinating to think about.

      There has been nothing like Austin/McMahon before or since their chemistry was just incredible

    • @blueblur2273
      @blueblur2273 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikeyoutubeaccount7120 No you're missing the point. Austin getting dropped on his head had nothing to do with the company being able to pay Bret.They were going to get rid of him regardless of whether Austin got dropped on his head or not because they couldn't afford his contract anymore. They were not going to have Austin face Bret because they didn't want the belt on Ausitn until Wresltemania. Bret had already offered to drop the belt to Austin and Vince said no because he clearly wanted the belt on Shawn. So the Screwjob was going to happen regardless of whether Austin was dropped on his head or not. Which means Mr. Mcmahon would have still ended up being created and Austin V Mcmahon would have still ended up happening because Austin was always anti-authority even before he got dropped on his head. So the storyline would have naturally evolved into Austin V Mcmahon even if Ausitn didn't get hurt and stun Mcmahon at MSG. That's the most creative time in the WWE. So there is no doubt that they would have either come up with something else that got Austin over or still ended up doing it anyway but just later down the line.
