XC is unique because sometimes even the fastest runner might be beaten if they don't have a good race. Great tips on how to get better for cross country!
UK and US cross country should almost be considered different sports. American courses look like a dream to run on, just perfect flat grass, no mud in sight
You should make a video covering float recovery (when to do it, why it’s beneficial, etc). I think it has risen to popularity over the past few years and it would be nice to see why it’s gained so much traction
My races in Scotland always take place in the same area, basically at the start there is 50 metres of flat grass/mud then a giant incline of mud and rocks, leading to a flat surface for about 350 metres, then steep downhill straight into another hill then it’s flat for the last mile or so. But it always rains on the day, so it kinda ends up like a swamp 😂 I’ve got a race in 2 months but I’ve been ill so I’m trying to get back in shape in time for the race, but I’m really just going to be there for the fun.
Yeah, XC really is different. I get beaten by guys who I consistently beat on the roads. I’m doing some specific XC training at the moment with sessions like the ones in your video, on hilly grass courses.
@@Trackstaa_ it is, it's the most grueling version of running, or any activity you could probably go through (in terms of how uncomfortable you feel during the race) It's never "wow I feel great after running this race!"
Tbh im not the fastest runner but ive been beating people a lot bigger than me. Ive noticed i have a specific pace, and it seems to help me beat people who are a lot nore athletic than me. Make me feel a lot better about myself :)
it depends. for my first year of cross country, i ran in trail shoes, specifically the Nike Pegasus Trail 4's. they're definitely not the best shoe, but they got the job done. now it's my second year and i have more training and experience under my belt, so i'm running with the Hoka Crescendo XC spikes. It all depends on what you feel most comfortable in, and what level you're starting out at. personally, i wouldn't recommend running in spikes for your first year, or at least not for the first couple of races.
you’re welcome! good luck! i’m sure you’ll do amazing. honestly if it were up to me, i would have ran in spikes as well. my coach just really didn’t want me getting injured, which is unlikely, he was just ultra cautious. have an amazing season!!

You also have to prepare mentally, the mental preparation is just as important as the physical preparation. Last kilometer is such a mind over matter.
@@katelyntuohyfans that is very true!

Yeah not ideal. Although last UK XC season the first half was nice and dry
Woah what american courses are these mine be like crazy rocky hills
depends on the state for sure but there are some pretty bad courses by us too.
I run xc and there’s loads of hills and mud and I live in Michigan and have traveled to many states and it’s mostly hilly and muddy as well
US XC is nothing like you described at least not in WV

I'll try to, I love floats but I'll need to know the science behind why it's so good. Which I'd need to learn more
I’ve learned a lot about running recently but I actually haven’t heard of this, I’ll have to research it
Another banger video! I love you were able to reach out to strong athletes to get quotes for your video!
thank you! yeah it's a nice thing to be able to do
Thanks for this video, will try to apply these tips at future races, also doing a XC i do in Munich this weekend!
thanks and good luck!
Great tips, more XC vids would be awesome 👍
Thanks and will do some more!

Same here. Well depending on the course. The drier and the flatter with less turns. The results are closer to those on the roads
Yeah, I can't wait to start running again, cross hits DiFfErEnT.
cross is awful

I hate it but I love it
top video yet again
Appreciate it thanks!
I should've run cross country and track.
What do you think are the best XC spikes atm?
I use dragonfly, I haven't tried any other super spikes on XC. But dragonfly's are for sure better than any XC spike
Is it a matter of consistency or time in cross country? Please answer
wdym? I can answer
