When you think of that old country music, it was so raw...and that was the beautiful part of it...a sort of pioneering feel, as was Slim Dusty. The songs were mostly 3 maybe 4 chords..and easy to learn the basics, and those chords started many a country music career in Australia.
The 1979, John Singleton doco - "The Last of the Fair Dinkum Outback Entertainers". Back in the days when these awesome traveling shows criss-crossed Australia. These shows played anywhere that there were people who craved entertainment. Trevor day once told me.. "It's not the size of the crowd that matters...it's the quality of the one's that listen" This is a wonderful tribute to a talented and humble Aussie music icon.... (Other than a thinning back of your cranial foliage, You haven't changed a bit Pixie!) - Cheers
Thanks for posting this, been looking for this ever since I first saw it when it was first shown! As we know John Singleton was a great fan of Buddy's, he'd often play his songs on his radio show on 2KY in Sydney. I remember seeingJohn Singleton and his wife at the time Belinda Green who'd went to see Buddy perform at one of the Wiseman Ferry shows in the early 1980's.
Buddy williams wrote two songs here in Tasmania one that happened to his daughter little red bonnet happened in Scottsdale and the other he wrote while up north of Hobart in January 1975 called the wreck of the Tasman bridge he heard about the Tasman bridge so he wrote a song about it
Thanks so much.

give them one of yours."
Thanks mate, never got to see Buddy in concert, so this is special. Thankfully, we still have his music.
