The Astrodome has an issue with asbestos which makes a teardown highly problematic due to cost. By making it a historic landmark, they made official something that would never happen anyway. The asbestos also makes any renovation an issue, but there at least they can make it a revenue generator to cover the cost. I think the bigger issue is that the location on the 610 loop south of downtown. Most of the big growth in Houston has been north towards the Woodlands and west into Katy. Overall, i'd say that the creator of this has never been to Houston, or NRG itself. It's a perfectly fine facility.
There have been rumors for years about either Harris County or a private entity converting the Astrodome into an entertainment venue of some sort in order to prevent it's demolition (I think one of the roadblocks to demolishing the Astrodome was Texas's historic commission, but I can never keep the excuses straight). Anyway, the seats feel a little outdated, so hopefully, they'll be upgraded or modernized within the next year or two, but it's not the worst stadium out there. That's really up to some combination of the Texans, ASM Global (which manages the NRG Park complex) and/or Harris County, which owns the campus through the Harris County Sports and Convention Corporation (whom answers to the Harris County Commissioners Court). Terrible stadium. Narrow seats. Very uncomfortable. Narrow crowded concourses with low ceilings.
Cmon Ginger no need to comment on your own videos 😅
ive been there 6 times in the past 3 years. the concourse is anything but narrow and low ceiling.
I think It's a great stadium for houston and I love playing in it on Madden football they just need to stop lying about opening the roof It's always shut
It complements the astrodome houston went a step further in stadium engineering I would make that place my house if they threaten to trash it anybody want to be my roommates
Are we not going to talk about the plethora of events that go on here, not to mention 2024 College Football Championship, 2 Super Bowls and the upcoming World Cup. stay being a depressed ginger 👍
They put a roof
I don't give a rat's ass what the view outside the stadium is. And one man's derelict is another's historical and designated landmark.
Apt channel name
The point when Depressed Ginger jumped the shark 🦈1:53🤣🤣🤣🤣go home Ginger ....your drunk or dumb
he doesn't know what he is talking about, the stadium is fine, some people need to shut up sometimes, i have been to new stadiums, and some can't compare to NRG
nah this is a bit of a reach lol
8th Wonder to you
There's nothing wrong with nrg. Not sure what this guy is talking about.
Not everything in Texas is perfect !!!!
Hahaha hahaha...
Well, I have to blame the citizens of Houston for a losing the original Houston. Oilers, you guys just should've gave Adam's. The new stadium and you guys still would've had your beloved boilers. But you guys did come around for the texans. I don't think there's anything wrong with the stadium. And it's a place that most likely will be like Houston's version of the superdome. They got their stadium done by the second time around
Bud Adam’s wanted the astrodome to be renovated… and the city paid for it. Then he immediately asked for a new stadium
Once again pushing a personal agenda as fact.
Better than the mem
I give it 40 yrs left. I score it a B- stadium 🏟 thus far by looking at it
