You got a smoak comment...very cool!! You can live your life on the couch that is for sure! Life itself is a risk you might as well get out and enjoy it. When it comes to gear I will never tell anyone you have to wear a helmets a jacket gloves there an adult they can make their own decisions. Great video!
Thanks so much for watching!!! And thanks for being instrumental in getting back out there. Watching your videos a few years ago got me into Can Am Spyders and gave me the guts to get my freedom back. Thank you! 👍🏻😎👍🏻 Hi Kelly! You guys are awesome! 😊
Has a on off biker of about 50 years I agree with you about being up to the individual what they wear. I once had a one-piece wet weather suit that inflated at over 20 mph (looked like a sumo) if asked, for me eye protection. And talking to all weather biker a few weeks ago. We agreed that rubber visor wiper that slipped on to the finger of your glove in wet conditions was worth buying the inventor a pint. Take care and keep safe.
Always enjoy your videos. I also enjoy seeing L.I. again. I kinda miss it! Safe rides, guy. I now live in GA and I love to ride. I cannot put on all kinds of gear, it is way too hot here in the summer. I ride in shorts if I am around town. I ride in jeans if I am going for a long trip to the mountains. I wear a half helmet and gloves, a jacket if the weather is cool enough. Just the way I roll.
You are right about what you said about talking about other people and what they wear there are so many people on TH-cam about not dressing right but sometimes things can get hot out side so thank you so much and keep riding
I'm so glad I stumbled upon your channel. I relate to everything you've been saying. In the summer I ride in a bathing suit because I live down da shore. 2015 RT Limited se6
You have to use whatever you feel comfortable with. I have had 8 surgeries on my left knee. No way I can hold up a 2 wheel bike. If she starts go to the left she will keep going until she is laying on her side. I have an F3-S and I love it. I always use a full face helmet and gloves. I also always ride in jeans and boots. I use a mesh jacket with the shoulder, elbow and back armor. If it is in the 90's I will skip the jacket. I ride to have fun and get off the couch. Life is too short. I was a cop for 23 years untill my knee injury. I could have been killed numerous times. I am a firm believer that when your time is up it is up. Go out have fun and be safe my brother.
I believe the same thing. When its your time then that's it. That's why I switched to Can Am... with my MS, holding up two wheels was just not happening anymore. I was riding home the other night and I punched it passed everyone. The smile on my face made my helmet tight. Glad we're both still out there! You be safe too and thanks for your service in Law Enforcement! My dad was NYPD and my closest friends are in law enforcement, so we are a true blue cop family around here. Thanks for watching! 👍🏻😎👍🏻
Like the video. I have been riding for over 40 years. Started on dirt bikes in the 7th grade. I have been a big proponent of gear. I have also learned that if you feel you need all that gear then there are a lot of times you do not ride due to the time it takes to get ready, to hot etc. I got to where I just wear regular cloths local and gear up for longer rides. I have a Spyder RT now and am going to be taking a big trip and have been on the fence about gear. With cloths packed there is no room to store heavy gear when it gets to hot. I liked your logic. It has helped me decide.
I feel no heat at all! I think that was a problem with the pre 2014 RT because there were vents right by the legs. They have since changed that on the RT. Not sure if the F3 ever had that problem but mine is a 2016 F3 and I have never felt it on mine. It really is a dream of comfort to ride. Thanks for watching!! 👍🏻😎👍🏻
I hope you can advise me on choosing between a f3 limited or an rt limited. Do you get a lot of wind buffeting? Does your passenger have any complaints? If it was only me ever on a spyder I'd get the f3 limited for sure. Thanks sir.
Hi Rodney!! I don't get any buffeting on my F3 with the stock shield. I know a lot of people upgrade their shields to the taller F4 shields but so far I haven't needed to. Most of my riding years I have ridden without a shield of any kind and I may be use to some buffeting and don't notice it. I know the F3 Limiteds were released to bridge that gap between the cruiser and touring models but it would all depend on the riding I am doing. I like sportier no matter the distance I travel so the F3 Limited was the one for me. I don't have a steady passenger, because Kelly is a chicken 🤣, but when I first got it and took a friend for a long ride she said she had no complaints. She was sitting upright and holding the hand rails so she wasn't even tucked closely behind me using me as a shield. The new F3 Limiteds have the passenger back rest with speakers like the RT so that may help having a full-time passenger for longer rides. Either way, you are going to love whichever Spyder you choose! Thanks so much for watching!! 👍🏻😎👍🏻
great perspective Rob - you are spot on about the newbie and dealer pressure to buy gear. I started riding late and 10 years ago got my first bike. I walked out with a new cruiser and gear that would sink a battle ship. And it's funny how initially you think you've got to wear the gear that you're told to wear rather than the gear that's comfortable and helps you also feel as safe as you can be on a bike. Comfort is key. We live in nanny states nowadays. I do believe a helmet makes sense, i don't fancy having skin grazed off, but that doesn't mean i need ot look like Valentino Rosso everytime i go out. As always, love your work mate. Avagoodday from downunder.
You are so right! They want to sell us so much that we can't lift our legs to get on the bike! So true, comfort is key. Be comfortable and you'll drive safer. I never like full-face helmets until I got one. Now, I love them. I feel safe and no one can hear the nasty things I say about them on the road! lol
ok, I wear helmet, gloves, underwear, tee shirt, jeans, Olympia jacket shell or a lighter jacket with reflector vest, timberlins or bmw airflow summer boots (I use to ride f650gs) I still use my bmw gear.Yep they suckered me on my first bike. Been riding since 2005 took a year off after 2nd knee surgery... it was minor.. but hurt like hell. It was an meniscus injury. I sold the 2wheeler to a Canadian then I just bought a Canadian 3 wheelers aka " Yessss" my spyder, thats her name. I owned a Honda, A harley 883. both were too heavy so I got the f650gs. It was fun to ride. My legs, hips and knees love Yessss. Spyders are awesome to ride!
Thanks so much! Yeah, it can be a real battle some days. Winter is actually worse for me. The cold makes everything tighten up. I am glad my better days come in the warmer weather so I can ride. MS has pissed me off enough! lol
My club believes in all gear all the time (AGATT) and I do my best to follow that. However, when the temps climb above 80 the jacket is the first casualty. Above 90 and off comes the sweat shirt. One of the Spyder riders in our club was involved in an accident recently and has been in the hospital over a week. He was wearing long pants, a long-sleeved dress shirt, an open face helmet and no gloves. He felt that Spyders were safe vehicles, unlike bikes, and for him, that was a bad decision. As "Dirty Harry" would say, "a man has to know his limitations" and apparently this rider didn't.
I got to disagree with you about drivers not giving a shit even if they see you...Statistically speaking most accidents that involve an auto and a motorcycle (the dreaded left hand turn) is the failure to judge speed (mostly because bikes give a smaller profile than a car) by the driver and the inability to "see" a bike coming straight at them.. The vis colors (bright green) and undulating headlights work best to garner the attention of a cager.. just my .02. I don't believe most folks turn a blind eye and "go for it" when they see a bike coming in their path..
S quote from The Readers Digest many years ago after a driver turned in front of a motorcycle causing an accident. "of course I saw you officer, but I thought you were just some kid on a Honda".
I wear armored pants, jacket, gloves, boots & helmet. I ride with a friend who wears jeans, a vest and a doo rag. He does not question my attire and I do not question his. We just ride.
I'm a gear guy....especially a helmet, even though its not mandatory(yet...) in CT. When I ride I wear boots, long pants, gloves, helmet, eye protection and a leather or mesh jacket. On broiling hot days sometimes I do skip the jacket, I admit... That's me and my decisions, I don't and never would dictate to anyone what they should or shouldn't wear, nor do I care. But......damn, some people do wear some seriously goofy shit when riding...I can't help it, I just have to laugh....I know, I'm a butt-hole
I laugh right along with you, my friend! lol When I was on two wheels I always wore pants. I can't wait to get older and leave the house without pants and have people think it's cute. "Awww, that old man is adorable." 👴🏻😁

Thank you so much!! I am truly honored to be named in such great company! Thanks for watching!! 👍🏻😎👍🏻
I did that in Connecticut on my two-wheeler a few years ago. I know how dangerous it could be but sometimes, you just gotta live!!
*Love these moto vlogs Fam. Currently getting my new Can Am Spyder F3 Limited getting customized now!! Can't wait to pick her up!*
Nice and thank you!! What are you having done for your F3?
Awesome!!! Very well said..! Loved the ride along and topic.

I never knew about the visor wiper, thanks! Definitely eye protection... I'm with you on that.
The Gimpy Garage Rob if you like myself lived in the Pennine hills, North of England. You get a great experience of rain if nothing else.
Always enjoy your videos. I also enjoy seeing L.I. again. I kinda miss it! Safe rides, guy. I now live in GA and I love to ride. I cannot

I was wondering if you get much engine heat on your legs with the Spyder? Gods video, thank you.😀

I love my Spyder! I was looking at an 883 but it was just too heavy for me to handle anymore. I am over the moon happy with my Spyder. 👍🏻😎👍🏻
MS is tuff for you in the summer time, I feel for you and like you are making the best of it. Ride on 😎

Very good points! I, however, am looking to have an A-10 Warthog chain gun mounted to my front end. Brrrp Brrrrp Brrrrrrrp... they'll see me then. 🤣
