      is valid.

    • @ThePrepperAlmanac
      @ThePrepperAlmanac  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@robertwalker5521 I do see that once in awhile at stores. I looked it up and came across this information.
      The pen or instrument that retailers use to check for counterfeit $100 bills (and other denominations) is called a counterfeit detector pen. These pens are also sometimes called money marker pens.
      They work through a chemical reaction between the ink in the pen and the ink used in legitimate bills. If the pen reacts with the bill's surface, it usually leaves a dark mark, indicating a potential counterfeit. However, it's important to remember that these pens are not a foolproof way to detect counterfeits. Here's why:
      Counterfeiters Adapt: Counterfeiters can sometimes use materials or treatments that trick the pens.
      Not Universal: These pens are typically designed to work with the specific ink and paper used in a particular country's currency.
      False Positives: Pens can malfunction or leave a mark on legitimate bills due to wear and tear.
      Here are some additional methods retailers use to detect counterfeit bills:
      Security Features: Modern bills have security features like watermarks, security threads, and microprinting that can be verified with special equipment or trained eyes.
      UV Light: Some security features are only visible under ultraviolet light.
      Training: Retail staff is often trained to identify counterfeit bills based on physical characteristics like paper texture, printing quality, and color.
      If you suspect you have received a counterfeit bill, the best course of action is to report it to the authorities.

      More people die due to cold than heat when the power is down -
      Most know nothing about the cold - an animals body will generate heat as it's sleeping or getting around as long as it is fed -
      Humans rely on external sources of heat when we're not moving around -
      Even if it's minus 30° F and dressed right - as long as you move around orr walk around you will fare out ok - as long.as we move around we generate heat -
      It takes a lot of fuel to heat a space - I burn wood for heat and hot water - I live in the deep South and it rarely gets below 15° F -
      It still takes a lot of wood to heat a home -

    As a doctor (retired), I'd just like to point out that it's illegal to stockpile prescription medication, because it means those who actually need those medications face a shortfall and possibly endgame. Most countries won't allow you more than 28 days worth of your own medication, at any given time. No country I have ever worked in has allowed someone to acquire medication that they are not prescribed:- including the preppers' favourite; epi-pens. I would also caution people not to source medicines from unregistered sources (ie the internet). The medicines may not be the right dosage, contain poisons, impure ingredients, placebos or, worse, the wrong drug. All of these put lives at risk.

    • @ThePrepperAlmanac
      @ThePrepperAlmanac  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Agreed! Here is some general information about dry dog food.
      Once opened, dry dog food stored in an appropriate airtight container can last for around 4 to 6 weeks, assuming it's kept under optimal conditions. Here's a breakdown:
      Unopened: Dry dog food in unopened bags typically has a shelf life of around 12 to 18 months from the manufacturing date. This is because the original packaging provides a good barrier against moisture, light, and air.
      Opened: Once you open the bag, the exposure to air starts to degrade the quality of the food. The fats and oils in the kibble can become rancid, and the nutrients can lose their potency.
      Here's how an appropriate container helps:
      Airtight Seal: An airtight container minimizes exposure to air, which slows down the oxidation process that leads to rancidity.
      Moisture Protection: A good container can also help protect the food from moisture, which can cause mold growth and make the kibble soggy.
      Additional Tips for Extending Shelf Life:
      Storage Location: Keep the container in a cool, dry, and dark place. Avoid storing it near heat sources or direct sunlight.
      Resealing: After each use, reseal the container tightly to minimize air exposure.
      Portion Control: Only take out what your dog needs for each feeding to avoid the food sitting out in the open container for extended periods.
      Signs of Spoiled Food:
      Off Odor: If the food smells rancid or unpleasant, it's best to discard it.
      Clumps or Mold: The presence of clumps or visible mold indicates spoilage.
      Change in Color: Discoloration of the kibble can be a sign that the fats are oxidizing.
