Good point Suzanne. I would say I used F2.8 for almost all the shots. Shutter was about 1/200 to 1/800 depending how bright. The iso was probably at 100 or 200 for all shots! Thanks!
Thank you for watching! I'm hoping my views jump up on this one...especially since I did his photos for free since I had a camera following us around! Haha!
Thank you! It can be awkward taking photos of someone you don't know well or at all. It helps to have confidence in yourself and what you are doing. I find confidence when I practice and prepare. This video is great to watch for preparing
I'm literally supposed to head out in like 10 mins to take a friend's senior portraits and I'm very nervous because I'm only in Photography 2 and never done anything like this but this definitely helped my confidence so thank you so much for this video!
This is helpful! I'm doing one of my best friends senior photos and one of my other best friends for fun so I can " get my foot in the door" as they say.
This was great! I run my senior sessions similarly and it was refreshing and encouraging to see how someone else shoots a session. Got some new ideas, thanks!
thank you for sharing this video. It was really helpful. another idea to get a natural smile is to have the person say "HI". vs cheese. Give it a try and see which you like best.
Awesome Video! Cute model to, he's super photogenic. I swear the majority of being photogenic comes down to having high cheekbones and a good side profile/having a nice nose. I'm pretty photogenic from the front but not from the side as I have a bump on my nose. If I got the bump moved or got filters done above the bump then I'm pretty sure I'd be good from every angle.
Half of being photogenic is having a good nose, the other half is having high cheekbones 😂. I got good cheekbone but my nose isn't so hot from the side so therefore I'm not photogenic from every angle.
@@TechMindBlow Thanks! Its not too popular where I'm at, but the clients parents requested a few shots for their Facebook pages. I'm more about shots like you took I'm this video! But gotta please the parents too 🤣
I usually edit about 30% of what I shoot. I just take a guess on what I think they will like. I've never had an unhappy customer with the photos I've selected. So if I shoot 150 pictures I'll give them 45.
This helps. I have my first one this Sat. I'm scared to death LOL, haven't shot anyone since March at a pageant. If the fear grabs me too much I'll just cancel and never say I do seniors LOL.
I'm a landscape amateur photographer. My colleague just asked me to shoot her daughter's senior pictures. Your video was super helpful! Thank You! What photo lab do you use for printing?
@@TechMindBlow Super, I was going to use Mpix or Nations. Will use Mpix. Do you charge for every picture (digital copy), or just charge per the hour and give them the "keepers"? Of course, prints would be extra. Thank You!!
thank you for the question. In America the last year of high school is called your senior year. Normally 12th grade students get portraits of themselves.
Hi, Quick Question! How do you know whats the scale of the monitor. I use adobe premiere pro but i just don't know how to get rid of the border black lines either on top or sides, i try to scale it but it never fits the screen perfectly, either its too zoomed in or zoomed out. Would appreciate your help
When you start a project you should be able to set the size of the frame. Many cameras are 1920x1080. So you will want to set your project to those dimensions. Thanks!
Here's the "thing" with showing "how to" as far technique, whatever that may be, then displaying the heavily "edited" images as examples of such techniques -- for those who are learning ... You confuse them! Those images you posted are NOTHING like the SOC RAW images you got when you shot them! You need to state that in your description (or show the SOC images as well) so that new photographers understand what's going on and have a reference point!
Why are so many "photographers" running around on shoots with NO LIGHT?? Photography IS light, and that's why ugly chain link shadows are on his face. Gear. Invest in it.
@@TechMindBlow Thanks for replying. Maybe do a with & without shot, to show the difference? I feel like when I see them use no light in shade near concrete, it can't be good, and they don't even try; if they saw the comparison, it might change the approach?
really nice tutorial. I would have appreciated seeing the camera setting on the stills that your displayed. Thanks!

Great shots!!! Natural poses!!! Thanks for the video

Enjoyed this video greatly. You are a great speaker as well as photographer! Thank you!

Poor kid looked so cold with a red nose! Appreciate this video, I'm taking my son's senior pics with an urban vibe like this.
Today is my first guy senior shoot! This is really helping me figure out what poses to do
Wow I really like 4:16 -best one of the shoot in my opinion!

I’m taking my friends senior pictures soon and this helped me out quite a bit :)

These shots were incredible. Thank You!
I can totally see myself saying I screwed it up. Lol
Awesome video! You helped me out a lot. I am never sure how to pose young men . Good work. Thank you so much!
Appreciate this video! Being both a photographer AND s senior citizen, this is very helpful...
Loved the video! Thank you for all the information about posing and lighting.and for using a male subject.
Great video!! I already started taking senior photoshoots but this video gave me other ideas to pose. Thanks again!!
Thanks for the comment!

Great tutorial!
Thanks man! These were such great tips!
Very helpful and inspiring
Thank you!
Awesome video
Imagine being that photogenic!😂
Half of being photogenic is having a good nose, the other half is having high cheekbones 😂.
I got good cheekbone but my nose isn't so hot from the side so therefore I'm not photogenic from every angle.
Nice job! Great ideas for senior photo shoot of a guy. If you give them the photos in a drive what is the best way to price?
Cool video nice
What were the settings on the camera ?? Thank you !
I was at 2.8 aperture for almost all the shots. ISO 100-200 and Shutter between 1/200 and 1/500th of a seconds. Thanks!
Love this!! Would love to see poses for girls Senior photos! Do you recommend any cap & gown photos for girls.
as for the cap and gown pictures I have never done any. It's just not a thing in my area but run your idea by the client and go for it!

What shutter speed do you like when shooting portraits? Thanks for the video!
Usually between 125 and 250
Appreciate the nuggets
When you take all the photos of the client, do you edit all of the photos or just the ones that they want to purchase?

What gear are you using? Your work is great.
Are you shooting with a full frame camera? If not, did you take the majority of the images at 70mm range of the lens?
Thanks for the tutorial! People can save money. None of us have to pay snobby 20-30 year old photographers!
Were you using autofocus or manual focus?
Auto focus always. Manual focus should only be used for special projects and maybe very dim lighting.
did you use single focus point or 9?
Always single point for seniors!
Can you describe the lens which you used in this video ...Plz
Sigma 70-200 and a 50mm 1.8
I enjoyed this. I need more guy type poses.
Ty sir
What's the meaning of 'senior shots'? In my dialect, a senior is an OAP, but the model here is a young man!

Clicked the video didn’t know it would be from my home town Portland Michigan, what a small weird
I like the pic on 7:28 best. But 99% of people would be fine with any of the photos shown in the video.

Why is he(TechMindBlow) not active on TH-cam anymore???
5 kids and 2 jobs lol...I should have a new video soon though
This kid could be Rick Astley's son! :)
Looks like Carl from the walking dead
I thought it would be only inside the school 😕

nice but the situations are too posed. just my small opinion.
Yuck. That covers it.
