At some point in his fabulous career, Ray Davies must have realized that he was so much more talented than just about everyone else on this entire, fucking earth.
You gotta listen to "Come Dancing," and earlier songs like "Superman," "Lola," "Waterloo Sunset" and "In the Summertime." My childhood and young-adulthood happy memories from the mid 60's thru 80's. Love the Kinks
Don't Forget to Dance,--- Just Like Fred Astaire (With Aknol'ment to James) So sad you can't appreciate such a fine performance from an Elite band such as the Kinks ❤ ❤ ❤ -"BloodRed."-
Ich liebe dieses Lied. Zufällig gehört und total begeistert. English songs are ever wonderful! The language ist perfect for songs. Sorry for my english. I`m only german.
I put this in my playlist just about an hour ago, not knowing what song it was. I'm just trying to find music and videos to send to my mum. We both need cheering up right now. I started listening, and when the chorus started, my heart just about burst out of my chest, and I'm snot crying.😂 I've been looking for this wonderful beauty for so long! Thank you for this❣️
Ray est un véritable artiste aux dons multiples ,il nous entraîne dans un univers à la fois léger drole nostalgique, rageux aussi,un vrai poète du rock.
One of my absolute favorites, along with Come Dancing. As many times as I've watched this (probably in the hundreds) I've noticed the bass drum head say Kinks early on, yet today I noticed the band with the red outfits was listed as The Ravens on the drum head. Ray has every detail covered.
You look out of your window, Into the night. Could be rain, could be snow, But it can't feel as cold as you're feeling inside. And all of you friends are either married, vanished, Or just left alone. But that's no reason to just stop living. That's no excuse to just give in to a sad and lonely heart. Don't forget to dance, no, no, no, Don't forget to smile. Don't forget to dance, no, no, no, Forget it for a while. 'Cause darling, darling, I bet you danced a good one in your time. And if this were a party I'd really make sure the next one would be mine. Yes, you with the broken heart. Don't forget to dance, no, no, no, Don't forget to smile. Don't forget to dance, no, no, no, Forget it for a while. Don't forget to dance, no, no, no, Forget it for a while. You walk down the street And all the young punks whistle at you. A nice bit of old, Just goes to show what you can achieve With the right attitude. As you pass them by They whisper their remarks one to another, And you give them the eye Even that you know that you could be their mother. You do the thing you love the most. What separates you from the rest, And what you love to do the most? And when they ask me how you dance, I say that you dance real close. Don't forget to dance, no, no, no, Don't forget to dance.
Quite possibly the most under- stated advice ever proffered,by none other than the incomm- parable KINKS. -Awesome -🎸 Sage words indeed!🎸🎸🎸. 🍒BloodRed🍒
A Reflective life of someone regretting the life the’ve lived, who are being cheered not give yet…. A Brilliant song by all standard! Good Sound and Beautiful lyrics
When Ray pantomimes the lumps of sugar and the look on his face when he misses the girl on the train - I see Chaplin. Amazing song - I listened to the Picture Book box set today and as amazing at it is, this song is missing. Hence I’m here.
Great song!! The lyrics ... "Don't Forget To Dance" You look out of your window, Into the night. Could be rain, could be snow, But it can't feel as cold as what you're feeling inside. And all of you friends are either married, vanished, Or just left alone. But that's no reason to just stop living. That's no excuse to just give in to a sad and lonely heart. A nice bit of old, Just goes to show what you can achieve With the right attitude. What separates you from the rest, And what you love to do the most? And when they ask me how you dance, I say that you dance real close. Don't forget to dance, no, no, no, Don't forget to dance.
I suspected that @harrydonaldson1965 might have been right when he speculated that the Kinks's selection "Don't Forget To Dance" might have been a follow-up to that ensemble's earlier selection, "Come Dancing." The scenes where the slicked-back, thinly-mustachioed man Ray Davies acts out is actually inside some ballroom are enough to make some people believe that, contrary to bridge lyrics in "Come Dancing," the "Palais" that the sister of "Come Dancing's" narrator frequented on Saturdays had NOT been torn down in favor of a "car park" (parking lot) at all!
No. It's about an older woman who is alone. Nowadays, I play this song back to back with "Magic Works" by the Weird Sisters featuring Jarvis Cocker. First heard Don't Forget To Dance in 1983 on the radio when I was 15. Now, I'm 57 and can't believe time flew too fast. I wish I could go back to much simpler times. ❤️ The Kinks and Ray Davies!
At some point in his fabulous career, Ray Davies must have realized that he was so much more talented than just about everyone else on this entire, fucking earth.

So isn't this the same guy from the "Come Dancing" video?
Yes
Was wondering if it’s intended to be the same character, this is another chapter in the story and if there’s a conclusion.
It seems like he’s playing all kinds of different roles in this video as well as the video for “Come Dancing.” Am I crazy? This song is beautiful.
