Hurray for a Colm song I didn't have to request!😂 This was such a departure from his normal music, and it's amazing.
This song is incredible, this version is one of the most beautiful versions I've ever heard. Colm is amazing and I was almost not expecting to love this because I adore Michael Crawford's version...however, I fell in love a tiny bit when I heard this. Sort of glad that he did this so well, it's an absolute masterpiece.
Thank you for sharing your impassioned reaction.
You had me at Colm McGuinness
I get full-body chills when I hear this version. It is....magnificent.
He has unbelievable power in his voice. I can't imagine there's any musical genre he can't do. Disco? He did it. Metal? Done it. Folk? All the time. Country? Who knows. Musical Theater? Here it is!
This is one of my favorite musicals, no matter who is in the show. I don't know what the power is that it invokes in me. Colm's voice is gorgeous for this. The last note was an incredible challenge.
DJ, I never knew that all the versions of this song that I have heard were missing something. I never knew that the Phantom should have that rasp, that dichotomy in his voice, until Colm taught me.
I love this song so much. I sang it myself back in high school and know how hard it is to get right. Much respect to Colm for his rendition. That last note is haunting every time.
So glad you enjoyed this as much as you did DJ. Loved your reaction!
Loved it...but I loved Dan Vasc so more.
*slams button* “again!”
I'm so agreeing with DJ. This is a wonderful, perfect Phantom. Gotta love Colm!
Can't wait to show this to my husband. That's his favorite song from the show. If you haven't already listen to it, could you PLEASE do a reaction to his cover of 'Song of Durin'?
We will see if someone does it for the live stream, but I have Iris up for next month
I cried at this cover, enough said ❤❤❤ so special!
I thought you were going to cry there for a minute in the beginning. It was beautifully done.
I don't know whether I liked Colms version better or Dan Vasc. I wonder what would happen if those two sat down and chose a few songs to perform together? Speaker systems might not be up to a challenge that epic. DJ might dissolve into a puddle upon hearing two voices that intense at the same time.
Colm’s is okay, but no comparison to Dan Vasc. I can’t imagine a collaboration with the two of them. Just can’t. Sorry.
wow! just wow! ❤
Loved it. But liked Dan Vascs better.
This was lovely. Thank you for finding and sharing.
This was amazing! So glad you got to this one!
Dan Vasc just dropped Iron Maidens cover of the beast last night. Can't wait to see your epic reaction to the Phenomenal artist Dan Vasc.
Dan a colm need to do a collaboration
@@asumedude6668 I would like to see Dan Vasc and Voiceplay do a collaboration
🥰Can't wait to see you melt from this! It's amazing! Colm's song just keep getting better and better.
Beautiful!
This was just gorgeous. He sang this to perfection😊💜🦌
Holy Tenor! Isn't Colm a Bass? Between this gentleness and his version of Hellfire's mania I'm getting whiplash.
I'd say he's a baritone- his highs are consistently amazing, but he often uses morning voice (and sometimes hangovers) for the super low stuff
I am so glad you got to this now. I love his voice so much, but he brings a whole new feel to this song. Shivers....it is almost like his voice was made to sing this song. Wow!!!!
Beautiful cover!!!
😮😮😮Wow! ❤❤
heh, Colm keeps breaking another reactor 😋😋. Ahh Michael Crawford, that brings back memories of "Hmmm Betty, I made a whoopsie" (check "Some Mothers Do Have them" sitcom,) as an extremely accident prone husband (basically if it can go wrong , it definately does for him).
Oh fraaannkkkk... believe me, I know Frank Spencer VERY well :D I LOVED that show!!!
@@dj_410 Michael is also an accomplished singer as well and sang in the Phantom of The Opera if memory serves correctly
I am So glad you loved this one!!
❤
Hmm... 559k subscribers for Colm? Yeah, makes sense... but with this _clean_ of a performance... holy crap...
i’d love to see you react to more phantom covers. jonathan young has a few,and Tommy Johansson has one. not to mention tommy’s covers as a whole are amazing.
I think he toned down his Irish accent to make it sound closer to the musical
He definitely did, he's shown he can in some of his other covers. This is just a pure cover of the musical and it is amazing
He definitely has an American accent for this
Loved Dan Vasc more.
DJ, the link in the description is to the wrong video.
Ummmm...the video you link is a cover of Gimme, Gimme, Gimme by Colm, not Phantom. :)
I messaged him about it, it should get changed after he gets back online
Hey, I know it's just my opinion but I prefer the cover Dan Vasc made of this masterpiece. You should listen to it.
This version was pretty. Not the best I've seen, but it was good. I don't really know Colm's singing style, but his voice is pretty & it was very good.
Colm covers a lot of styles, but DJ has reactions to a few other of his songs
I like Dan's better
So, do you think this guy is better than Dan? You seem to have the same reaction to everyone. 🤔
Dan sings operatic metal for the most part, so him dipping into Phantom isn't outside of the normal. Colm does folk songs, metal covers, and sea shanties. This is a much bigger step out of his wheelhouse, and that is bound to get a bigger reaction.
I havent heard a lot of Colm's work, but so far I'm not a big fan. In my opinion, his vibrato sounds like a sheep bleeting. Sorry. Dan Vasc's version is still my favorite. This one didn't touch my emotions like Dans did.
I mean then don't respond? There is the whole if you don't have anything nice to say, then keep it to yourself.
To be honest, I agree with you 100%
I’m sorry but Dan Vasc did this so much better. Nothing against this man’s voice. Very nice but Dan projects so much more feeling and intensity. Just my preference.
Agree. Colm is not even close to Dan’s voice and passion.
Don’t like his vibrato, Dan Vasc does this song with passion, he embodies the Phantom. Check him out and you’ll agree.
