I enjoyed your unboxing so much! As a kid I had a hand me down Golden Dream with a dodgy neck, her head needed to be pushed down to stay on. ;D She didn’t come with her accessories so I didn’t get to play with her in the way Mattel intended. Honestly, I would have loved her more if I’d had her bits and pieces. Until your vid, I hadn’t really understood her as being a ‘hair’ play doll. 😅
Thanks for the shout-out to our video! I'm so glad that you love Golden Dream as much as we do! You also did a much neater job on her hair than we did! LOL
Yessssssss👏👏👏👏👏Let’s give it up for Golden Dream Barbie! Another one of my favorite childhood Barbies. I remember changing her name to “Brandy” when I was a little girl. I always had to change their names from Barbie to something more personalized. ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
I thought of you the WHOLE time making this because I knew you had her. I’m so glad you were able to see the video!! What magic this doll is. Easily worth the wait, but also, wish I had her too as a kid! She’s magic!!
She is a true icon 💎 🪩 truly gorgeous doll and accessories. I agree with you, she is defending Top 5 in my book. I am lucky to have two of them and both have the amber/ rose gold shoes. Both have the sheer gloves ( I love your variation with the gold gloves! ) one had clear rhinestone jewelry and the other had amber rhinestones. The fashionista head is pretty, I would rebody her and the boots are fabulous. That plastic choker is an atrocity and the jumpsuit is trash 🤣
I love Golden Dream Barbie. I have a couple in my collection. My holy grail doll is Golden Dream Christie. She’s way out of my price range but I can dream lol. I was going to get the fashionista to display by my original but…I passed. Petite bodies aren’t my favorite and her head is huge. I love all the hairstyles you did!!
Well the reproduction is coming out!! She just won’t have the quick curl hair. Which is sad, because it’s so much fun!!! Thank you so much!!:) I have more that now I’m going to do all the hairstyles to so they can be fancy or extra lol
I had an opportunity to get this Barbie and I opted out and bought the Magic curl Barbie, the seller offered a better deal, and I don’t know if I got the better doll lol 😅. But I do love this review and how you tried out all her hair styles
Golden dream barbie is one of my childhood back in the 80s including angel face and lilac and pretty barbie among the dolls that our neighbor gave away. Now I still have them in my collection.
I'm from the Philippines, and this made me both nostalgic, happy and also sad. Barbie (Mattel) used to be made and manufactured here decades ago, so sad it's not the case anymore. Love ur videos
Aww thank you:) I’m so glad you’re here and loving what you see! Thats so interesting you actually being from there. I loved the more sweet faces of the Philippines Barbie’s. They were always the more endearing ones.
Never knew of anyone who used a "hair arranger" , but then again it disappeared in all her hair! Pretty neat! 😄 My (adult) daughter and l watch you. Glad I found you and your videos! I love these vintage barbies too! Cheers! 😊✌️⚘️
... And yes, that plastic 'Drag Queen Crown!' (which is what I nicknamed that crazy headpiece...) I also NEVER saw anyone wear anything remotely like that back then, though there was this one drag queen back in the 90's here in Sydney who liked to dress very space age and she had a clear plastic crown like that. For years I used to think that Kenner's 12 inch Princess Leia doll (that I also had as a kid ... wish I still had her now in the box, as she now goes for like a squillion dollars with that!) came with the same crown, but looking at them now, I think that I used my Golden Dream Barbie crown on her instead, as it made more sense because I always think that it looked more 'sci-fi' than 'Fashion.' LOL You actually did a terrific job styling it around that crown!!!! Makes me wanna pull mine out of the box and try mine on her again. Poor Ken!!! LOL
@disneybarbiegirl615 I can't wait to see your restoration on her! I have one , but the jump suit was really gross , even when you get her in the box. Still , her accessories are all purple so she is right up your ally. 💜💜☮️🌈
What a fun video! You are so entertaining and you make me laugh! The OG doll is gorgeous and so well made. I just don’t get the fashionistas, sorry, not sorry! I wanted my dolls to be beautiful, to dream and pretend when I was a kid. I never wanted a doll to look like me! Where’s the escape in that?! Anyhoo, LOVE your videos!! Looking forward to the next reveal or refurbish😊
OMIGOSH! You actually did the hair! And did it well! 😍😍😍 Clearly you have tonnes of experience with doll hair so I doubt any child got it looking anywhere near as good. I do wish we could get some photos of how kids styled them 😂 She's such an iconic doll. I prefer the Philippines one you have personally. I sold my Golden Dream a while back. Her neck was very loose and I found that I didn't care for the beige skin tone of the early 80s. I realised that is why I like some All Star Kens and not others. I didn't realise there even was different skin tones until I got a pink skinned one. I like the boots of the new one too. I'll leave the opinions on that doll there 😂 I just love your sense of humour! Thank you so much for sharing ❤
I’m so happy you liked it! I’ve watched your video about 300 times.lol it was my favorite video to watch about her! And thank you. She did take great effort to look like that lol 😂 especially the last look lol 😂 that one even now I don’t think looks the best. But it’s part of play! I’m sure as a child I would’ve been less picky and probably done whatever with it anywho. As an adult, I want them looking good lol you know, I thought all of them had that tone until recently. I purchased what’s probably a later golden dream, with the peach skin tone. She is probably my most prettiest golden dream! I recall yours having a loose neck, and that’s annoying. I know how to fix it, but sometimes you just wanna be happy without doing that so I don’t blame you. I loved your dolls outfit a lot too, the more white gold outfit is stunning! The only thing I really like about the tribute doll is her boots. Those would be cute on a 80s golden dream lol
@@disneybarbiegirl615 Thanks for the views 😂❤ I probably would have been picky. I remember hating how my Cut n Style worked. I ended up ditching the hair and using the hole in her back to store secret things. But I guess some kids wouldn't have cared. But then again, I'm sure there's collectors out there that don't care either! Oh yes, I kept mines outfit. Just in case I find another doll I like. I need to research all the different versions now.
We did NOT wear a hair arranger. I suspect Mattel was trying to recreate the big hair styles some of us touted but we did it with back combing and hair products. We did have a number of items that were added to the hair that looked a lot like the foam circle though.
Just finished watching this ❤. Do you have DAY TO NIGHT barbie in box? I am struggling to identify her in my personal Barbie collection. I feel every face I Google looks different, and one in book looks nothing like any doll I have. The doll that had her outfit on, that I thought was her, I think is peaches & cream. Yet, I only had one peaches & cream doll, and I already have her identified too as peaches & cream. If you have multiple day to night barbie, a new in box/original, or if different countries did her, I'D LOVE a comparison video to help me find my day to night barbie. Thank you ❤ your videos
@@disneybarbiegirl615 that would be great! Thank you so much. I feel every pic I look up online looks a little different, so a variation video would be appreciated
And I love when we take a look at the fashion booklets, (I was all over them as a kid, almost as much as I am now as an adult collector, and of course now have nearly all of them, and multiple copies of the ones from 1976 to about 1985 as nearly all the dolls from that era came with one.) I also had lots of the fashions that you pointed out from that 1980 booklet, and quite a few now as an adult collector. I have that #1947 Fashion Favourites for Ken now and love it, among many others! Fun fact: that Barbie Fashion Collectibles #1901 was actually really closely inspired by an early Gianni Versace dress from that time, (I think even Jerry Hall wore it on the runway, who of course looked like a real-life Barbie doll herself!)
I absolutely love the booklets. They’re a perfect reminder of the era and the fashions! I use them as shopping guides, as they were intended, but unfortunately some items are so rare or expensive it’s hard to have them in my collection. It’s just not a tapped market the late 70s and early 80s so when you find them in good shape and complete, you have to pay double than you would for 60s vintage.
@@disneybarbiegirl615: So true! Before I started collecting Superstar, when I was just collecting vintage and Mod era, I always assumed that the Superstar era fashions would be relatively easy to find and inexpensive compared to the 60's outfits, as I remember they were sold everywhere when I was a kid (and not as detailed or as well made as the vintage 60's stuff)... how wrong I was!
The original golden dream girls are so FABBB!! I can’t wait till they release the golden dream christie reproduction because the vintage ones are going for $600 and up. 😳
When the original Golden Dream Barbie is standing next to the newer modern day Fashionista Golden Dream Inspired Barbie doll they look like mother and daughter standing together. That original 1980 Golden Dream Barbie doll is 100% complete and in beautiful condition including all of her original costume pieces and all of her accessories and her box may not be in perfect condition but it's in excellent condition for being 44 years old. They are hard to find 100% complete with all costume pieces and accessories since sometimes some items are missing or removed from the box but this one has everything still like brand new including the clear plastic cellophane headband wrapped around her head. The box itself is in beautiful condition for its age as they are usually badly crushed and damaged or cellophane window is loose or missing but hers was still intact. Beautiful and gorgeous original 1980 Golden Dream Barbie doll.👍🌝⭐🌟🔥
The 70s and 80s barbie are the best so beautiful and I love the holiday barbie
the fashionista is looking like she's the OG's daughter lol

Found 1 not in the box, but complete and she has great hair, can't wait to get her delivered! LOL, I'll have to sell a doll or 2.
Awww great!!! I hope she is everything you’ve ever wanted. She remains my top 5 favorite Barbie dolls
She is my favorite superstar era doll
I bought her in the 80s when it came out....made in Taiwan
I have 3 now
That's how I love this doll

I was seeing Dolly Parton from the picture they shown. It’s a fun and wacky hair play gimmick. And when you can get it looking nice, it’s not so bad!!
Golden Dream Barbie was my last Barbie as a kid. That specific Golden isn't a deluxe. Dolls back then were made so much better.
Omg I think you would love the descendants 4 dolls I got the pink one and she’s not bad quality
She’s actually the one that appeals to me the most!
I love it,it's awesome video👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🩷🩷🩷

KFC on Sunday???!! 😂😂😂
