    I've seen many reactions to this and it's interesting to see the difference between people who understand anxiety and those who don't. You totally understood what he was saying from the start. This song gives me chills every time I hear it. He leaves public life to better himself and right at the moment he feels safe enough to take his first steps back out the whole world changes and he's forced back inside again. "Got it? Good, now get inside." Such a musical gut punch.

      Love this. The range of reactions to this video and his "Cant Handle This" video are insane, I honestly wish more people were able to catch what he's actually saying in his lyrics. I know he's known for being a comedian but it doesn't take much to realize these songs are him being serious. Gotta give Bo his flowers while he's still around!

      So I have heard and watched this song dozens of times and I was always thinking about the song from the perspective of bo speaking to us, but this is the first time that its clicked with me to listen to the song as if its bos own inner monologed and it just kind a blew my mind. Now I feel stupid for not noticing sooner, but it just makes the song even more impressive to me as well.

      I always took, "get inside" as leave the physical world and go to the digital world. Bo says in this special that the physical world exists only for access to the digital one. And when COVID forced everyone to shut down and Bo did a special digitally, he recognized where things are going to go... "we're going to go where everyone knows"... everything is moving Inside, on a screen.

    The bit before this song within his special is essential for setting the mood. I mean I get it, you probably want to react to every single song of Inside individually, but Bo crafted this special precisely and made it fit so well together. It left me devastated, when I watched it for the first time. The most beautifully hunting piece of art I've ever experienced. You should watch it entirely, too.

      Agreed the so good are great alone but the entire message the full series brings is insane I have never wanted to cry in a comedy special but he really brought what a lot of people felt during the pandemic

    My favorite piece by him used to be Can't Handle This Right Now but this one really blew me away. I LOVE this! I think the laugh track shows how some people don't really laugh over the right things or for the right reasons (aka they laugh at the surface of what he has been saying without really getting it.) AWESOME reaction!

  • @DaNieLLe33993
    @DaNieLLe33993 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thank you for commenting on that laugh track he added! I think it’s one of the most heartbreaking parts. We make jokes about our struggles and others will laugh at it not realizing we really are laughing to cope and need help not feel laughed at. But it’s a coping mechanism so what else can we do

  • @sem1conscious

    Re-assurance is a great word to describe it.
    I always got the vibe that he's trying to encourage the listener out of 'hiding' and re-enter the world, like he said he did.
    'I worked on myself mentally, and got better' 'Are you feeling nervous?' 'Come on in the waters fine'
    Like he's talking directly to those of us that would rather stay in seclusion rather than interact with others.
    'We're going to go where everybody knows..' 'It's almost over, it's just begun'
    Like let's go meet up with friends or make new friends, and hang out for a bit.

    • @sindri1447
      @sindri1447 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah he tried to re-enter the world but the world shut down instead. He needed to get into the water to finish his journey of self improvement when the world told him "got it? get inside".

      This song was really where I went "aha." Like, if you spent a lot of time doing therapy and self-examination and you finally feel like you're over it and you're ready to start reconnecting with other people again, and then quarantine happens and you're stuck back inside with your boring stupid self again. Being in quarantine isn't much fun even when you enjoy your own company, but if there are things about yourself you really hate then it's so much worse.

    I think the song itself can have so many different meanings depending on the listener. For me the lyrics spoke of the temptation to fall back into depression (just managed to scrape myself out of a 4 year slump) but I was weirdly comfortable in my depression, I wasn't doing anything, apart from what I wanted to, which was sleep and watch TH-cam. I am slipping a bit, but I know I'll come out the other side a stronger and more confident person.

    • @alistaircraig7849
      @alistaircraig7849 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As in its easy to do nothing about your situation and just welcome the embrace of depression and slip into this weird, almost not awake state. I don't want to do that again.

  • @RubyDynamite

    This is one of my favorite songs of the entire special, without a doubt. It's really interesting, watching other people watch it for the first time - when Bo looks at us that first time, *so* many people flinch away or feel uncomfortable, but I literally just could not stop staring at him. The whole sequence is just hypnotizing, from beginning to end.
    If you're curious what the song sounds like without the vocal effects, do a search for the same song, but 'transposed to his real voice' I think is the title - it doesn't *sound* like his real voice to my ears, but it's the closest version I've found so far (the others sound a bit weird but in entirely different ways lol).
    Also, Bo just won his very first Grammy just a few nights ago for this very song! Sigh. So proud of that boy.

  • @sherrimorgan3627
    @sherrimorgan3627 ปีที่แล้ว

    I loved this from him so much. But I found a version on TH-cam that took the voice effect off of him and you get to hear his own vocals. It hits you in the feels even harder than the original.

      Bo wasn't alone. He was with his longtime partner.
      His character, a version of himself, is alone in the special. It's why he chose not to have songs like 5 Years in the special because it didn't fit with the isolation theme/story.

    Where going to go where everybody knows....hell. society.... going to hell, an buying into the idea of of an actual pandemic and thinking all the lockdowns were all good or just in general and what ppl are into and everything. N the laugh track he'd make a ton of jokes pointing out ppls stupidity and they'd laugh at themselves....can relate so much....he's such a tortured soul.... would love to actually talk to him. And he means the world ending as humanity not the environment....js. at least everything I interpret

    "We're going to go where everybody knows everybody".. Is anybody else getting a double meaning here? Like, on the internet, performers often have to act like they know everyone, but also alone by yourself inside your home, technically every body knows everybody, too.

    Two things about this reaction. First, I have an extension that shows downvotes and if it's correct this video has more downvotes then it should because this was a really good reaction in my opinion. Maybe the extension is wrong but either way I really enjoyed this reaction as I do most of your reactions. Second, after his talking line when he says ..."and then the funniest thing happened." Because of the date when he come back I think he made it to make you think that he is referring to covid or the lockdowns based on the sentence structure, but I am not sure he would say that about a situation where people were dying at the literal moment he was writing that song, I see too much empathy in him even though he has some songs meant to tease people. He tends to punch up and not punch down at more innocent people. I really think this is his anxiety returning to him or his realization that he wasn't as well as he thought or hoped. If you take the song and even the title "all eyes on me" and think about it from perspective of anxiety. His last specials finale was all about his anxiety that previously no one knew about in "Can't Handle This", now obviously everyone knows about it, so from his anxieties point of view, 'all eyes on me'. The line that really made me come to this conclusion is after the first lines he says "we're going to go, where everybody knows, everybody knows" but the way he sings it makes it sound kind of like an "ooooh" instead of a "knows" on the end. It seems to me he has made it to camouflage the last "knows" to make the line sound like "everybody knows everybody, (oooh)" vs "everybody knows, everybody knows" This might be reaching if he didn't also do it in the song "Goodbye", off the same special, where he says "When I'm fully irrelevant and totally broke en." Where he turns the 'broke' of being poor, to 'broken' from not being the center of attention. So, the funniest thing happening is quite possibly the return of the anxiety.

      Bo is definitely talking about the covid lockdown. If you've seen the whole special, that's EXTREMELY clear. I mean, did you just "are you really joking at a time like this" him?
