I may be late commenting on this video and maybe no one will see this comment, but I come here every morning and every day because of my depression. This soothing music helped me a lot. I just wanted to say thank you for letting me get through the tough times.
Dude…I just wanna give you a hug so bad. Not one of those short pathetic ones, I want to wrap a warm blanket around you and give you head pats and ice cream while Netflix plays in the background with my arms wrapped around you. I just wanna say that like- I KNOW what you’re going through. I know the nights you spend alone, the shower where you just lie on the floor and cry, the days where nothing seems to go right, the times where you might overthink everything. I know that a lot of times you put on a mask and gaslight yourself into thinking that everything is ok. Cause- I’ve BEEN you. I’m just now getting out of depression and it’s been really hard to love myself, but like, I really try. It gets better. And I know they always say that it does, and I remember thinking to myself, “easy for you to say, you’re freaking beautiful,” and “You’ve had artificial happiness for so long I bet you forgot what it’s like.” And months would go on. Long, hard months where the only happiness I felt was this twist of disgust that I forced into happiness, and it made me want to throw up. It’s terrible. I hated it and I loved it. And dude- it felt God even abandoned me, one of my only friends that I’ve know my whole life. I was so unlovable that the Savior of the world who freaking died for everyone’s sins couldn’t love me. And I’m not throwing myself a pity party- but I’m just saying that I get you. It may feel never-ending, it may feel like nobody loves you, it may feel like happiness is impossible, and it may feel like the only friends you have are the imaginary ones inside your head that gaslight you into thinking that you’re fine (or maybe I was the only one who did that, eh, I still kinda miss em sometimes but not much). It’s okay to be hurt. It’s okay to NOT be okay. It’s okay to let people see you as you are. One of my favorite songs, Talk to Me by Cavetown (you better listen to it 👹), has this verse that I absolutely love and it gets me through a lot, “You don’t have to be a narcissist to love yourself.” And dude, that’s so true. Look for beauty in everday things. Look for beauty in your appearance, even if it feels like there’s none. It could be the sparkle in your eyes or the sun that shines off your hair, the freckles that dot your face like stars. Look for beauty in your personality, like the way you laugh or the insane use of sarcasm that you use. I don’t know you, but in a way I kind of do, as strange as it is. I don’t know what your personality traits are or your love language or what you look like or what your favorite color is, but I know that you, my friend, are FEARFULLY and wonderfully made, created by the intelligence and beautifulness of the God of the stars and sunsets and the frogs that jump in the rain. He loves you. Those thoughts you think about yourself, he doesn’t think that way. To him, you’re a precious child that he sent his only son to die for you, so that he could get to know you and you might want to reach out to him and talk to him and have a FATHER who loves you so, so much that I can’t even emphasis on how much he cares for you. Look, kid. You are beautiful. You are loved. And you are His. Don’t let anyone, including yourself, tell you otherwise, or I’m coming to your house and stealing your cheetos >:(. I’m not saying it’s going to be easy to get help, but if you try, if you REALLY try, you’ll learn…to love yourself. And you’ll learn to let yourself be loved.
