I guess its the same reaction we get from seeing Shiba doggos, they dont talk, they usually have one derpy expression, and they're cutest when hyper active.

Considering the person in the costume gets to fill the role of a more goofy and off the wall character, in this case Ame's EXTRA gremlin alter ego, than something more sterile and hyper protected than something like Mickey Mouse, they can probably have more fun with it, like when they aggressively asked for head pats.
Like I said, whoever was inside really managed to be expressive and give the character some personality. Even if it was a man in there, they did a great job.

@@flugel5554 As someone who has worked in a few mascot PT jobs back in my younger days, my guess is that they are peeking through the hat, you can usually see through those a bit from the inside but it's hard for us to tell from the outside, notice how it looks like there is a small dark patch in the middle of the hat ?

Honestly, my deepest respect to the person in the smol ame costume. Being in a mascot costume is tough, it gets hot in there quickly and god forbid you topple over. And yet this king or queen not just stuck with it but made as good of a chaotic performance as possible. No one's gonna know who it was beneath the costume (except maybe the fellow staff) so there's literally no clout or anything to gain and yet they just did their best nonetheless. Granted, there's probably even more awesome things to respect but still, my heart goes out to whoever gave this gremlin costume the energy she deserved.
