Pandit Vijay Koparkar is an exponent of Hindustani Classical Music. He started his musical training at the age of eight. His first musical Guru (teacher) for eight years was Madhusudan Patwardhan. This was followed by training under renowned artist of yesteryear, Vasantrao Deshpande for five years and then under Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki for seven years.

A fitting tribute! One sees a very special Vasantrao in Vijay-ji than rest of his emulators, isn't it?

In Chandrakant Limaye ji also, one finds a beautiful perfume of Vasantrao’s gayaki (off the top of my head, I recall a lovely Shankara by Limayeji recently uploaded to his channel). But the fragrance of Vasantrao’s gayaki found in Koparkarji is unique in its own way. It is especially perceptible in his natyageet gayan. :)

@@FarhanAmin1994 Very true! Chandrakantkji's renditions most certainly have deep roots in Vasantrao's character given his long association. The youth in gayaki! I have been dying to hear a 'Ravi Mee' from Vijay-ji, a touchstone of Vasantrao's mercurial gayaki. Hoping to stumble on one some day. :)
