I LOVE LOVE LOVE Altoids containers! Besides looking cool you can use them for anything. I've even thought about making a small shadow pallet out of one.
To take off waterproof mascara I put some baby oil (olive oil works fine too) on a tissue and rub it softly across my eyelashes. It might take a while, but it definitely takes it off. And Emily, I really love how you're all about makeup that everyone can afford. I'm getting kind of tired of all the other gurus always using high-end products. You're amazing! Keep up the great work!
what you said about the little drugstore brushes that come in blush pallettes, i have 2 from cover girl blushes that are fairly full and i cut one so it works for concealer and the other i expanded by pushing my finger in the center to make it bigger so it works as a stippling brush
I just use an Afro comb with metal teeth to lift my "do". I have fine hair but alot of it so whenever I need a lift at the crown of my head I need more support than a bobby pin to lift it. the afro comb has so many teeth so you can lift more "area" of your hairdo and they sell them everywhere. They are sooooo cheap also! Love the video, thanks for all the tips.
I've watched all your videos and I am a huge fan, and this look ur wearing is my favourite by far. I think you look beautiful in this video. Could you do a tutorial on this look?
Very good! Emily- if you don't have a metal lash comb you should get one! Sonia Kashuk makes a fold down (travel friendly) version that is inexpensive. They work 1000 times better than plastic combs.
I have been searching for this Revlon eye make up remover since you mentioned a long time ago.Where did you get it? A beauty tool that I could never live without is a magnifying mirror with a light around it. If one can't afford one with a light I would get just get a magnifying mirror. I am fair and carry Neutrogena baby SPF of 60 in stick form with me.Because it is in stick form you can carry it on a plane. The baby formula is great for sensitive skin and you don't even get your hands messy
Hi Emily! I've watched your videos for a really long time now and never comment, but I just wanted to let you know that you're so amazing. Your tips are always so helpful, and useful, and most importantly affordable! So much of what I do every day make up wise has developed from watching your videos. And you're always so sweet and personable, I always fee like you're talking right to me, not a camera, lol. I just wanted to say thank you so much for all the work you do for us!
Great tips. Thank you. I always like products with multiple purposes. I would suggest jojoba oil as a must - it can be used to remove eyemake up, hotoil treatment for hair, leave-in conditioner for hair, moisturizer for skin and lips, shaving, the list goes on...
seriously! i just cant believe how many great tips you have. i enjoy all your videos and have learned sooo... much from you. thank you for taking time to make videos for us!
i love the tip about keeping the little sponge tip applicators and blush applicators. i usually just throw them away because i don't have any use for them. i'll be sure to keep them on hand now! thanks so much :)
Those spongetip applicators also work well for clean up if you don't want to carry loose q-tips in your makeup bag which for me always seem to disappear. You can always rinse them or toss them when they're worn down. I use the small blush brushes to clean my keyboard haha... I've also used them for fallout, and highlighting cheek bones, since they're much smaller than your average blush/contour brush and can give a precise application.
Good stuff I tell ya! I like the Altoid tin to store my bobby pins! I have grip bp's, non grip, brown and black pins and having them in separate tins really helps!
Emily..me again. I also can't live without this Beauty Blender sponge. You wash them so actually they are cheaper than buying the little ones and throwing them out. They also reduce the amount of trash. When you are finished with it you can send it back to the company and they somehow dispose of it or recycle them somehow. I went it and it feels so nice and gives such a nice finish. Thanks
in response to the full screen video log, when i click it (on any channel) and scroll to the bottom, it keeps scrolling but blanks out. it's weird. it won't show all of them. just wanted to throw that in there. i would have never thought to clean off my mascara brush to keep for when i trim my brows (i use a wandy thing like it b/c it grabs the hairs and stands them up better for trimming) or to keep the blush brushes for dusting off. very cool!
@crazychild2041 Hand sanitizer is not used systemically, so I don't think we have anything to worry about. It's used for microbes on the outside of your skin that you pick up in the outside world, not for those in the actual blood stream and tissues. It's benefits outweigh its risks, so don't be scared to slather it on.
I have acrylics, but those nails look pretty darn good! My random beauty tool, you know, toilet seat covers, are made of the same material as blotting papers, so when I go to the bathroom and i'm out shopping or whatever I try to use those! Sounds weird, but hey it works in a pinch. Oh and q-tips are the best thing ever! I use so many every day.
love altoids containers! my bobby pins are stuck to the lid with magnet...i keep extra cash/change in them...drink mix packets, haha - everything BUT altoids. great video!
Ebay has the coolest eye tools ever, they are little plastic combs that go through your lashes. They make the lashes huge, little plastic comb type thingy, usually pink or blue plastic, the ones I have seen are sold and delivered from china for about a buck with free shipping. They really are the greatest, I wish I knew exactly what they were called, I have never seen them anywhere else and they really differ from the reg lash combs
Oh oh I loved your videos before, but now I have to say YOU"RE aAMAZING! Wow :))) How did I never think of using the sponge applicators or the blush brushes to set or apply my concelaer??? THANK YOU :))) Well, you truly think out of the box, thank you!
I thought I was the only one that had heard of that tip about the toilet seat covers as blotting paper. I read it in a magazine and brought a whole new package home from the place I work and everyone thought I was crazy but it works as good if not better!
Emily, that was a great video-keep them coming. I have some extra-tips to add. To keep your fake nails on longer, buff the nail first with a coarse side (do not buff it soft). While glueing a nail on-let the glue sit for just few seconds before applying it. Also, make sure there is no bubbel when you apply the nail, otherwise it surely will come off earlier then expected. The Orangewood stick can also be used to clean any nail polish mess. continue....
Lash mascara tool is what they call them, so worth trying, not as much for the mascara end, although it is neat, but for the other end that has two differ sizes combs for the lashes. I see them on eBay for about a buck and around 4$ shipping. I don't sell these or anything lol just think they are great, I own 2, same thing just differ looking styles. Took around 2-3 weeks to get it but hey it came from china and I got free shipping
I save all the small brushes to help clean my saddles. They fit in tight spots. Works great. Great for cleaning the car too. Fits around the vents and things.
omg ive never seen thoes qtips before im gunna go get some now thanks for this video it helped alot i use the mint contanor for my big bills cuz its safe lol cuz no one would think to look in there well unless they want a mint haha you looked gorgeous as usual
I'm, sitting here with it right now, and 3/4's of my children. I have four. You are incredibly gracious to your fans. Something I learned from you. Thank you for the wonderful example. Btw, hand santizers kill bacteria, but are almost useless for viruses. Read the fine print on the packages. Which stinks.
I just read an article about hand sanitizer and it is not ture that you can get immune to it. You would have to use over a 20 oz bottle a day for that to happen
I carry the alcohol towelettes in my makeup back because I can carry my foundation in place of a travel sized hand sanitizer bottle... and they're quite cheap and and tiny and do the job.
Loved fan brush idea! Inexpensive beauty tools: - spray bottles for your make up eye remover and skin tonic - will save you a lot of money. Use three spray morning and night of my tonic and have saved so much. Using a small bottle, refilling it once every 5 months! Think it was 2.00! - Essence of beauty brush cleaner 6.00! - Baby wipes to clean brush, hands, make up fall out and your make up table after use. 2.00! - Q-tips! 2.00 - Hand sanitizer (5.00 for 5 at Bath & Body W) - Shine eraser!
Thanks for the info about the way the new channel set up works. Before I knew about the grid button looking through videos was annoying the hell out of me.
you are gorgeous. all-american, refreshing beauty. thanks for what you do, and using "non-snob" make-up...the stuff we can ALL afford. god, i just love you!
Emily You are just as beautiful on the inside as you are the outside! Really enjoy your videos, they are great makeup tips for women like me they dont have alot of money but still want to look nice thanks
I've turned my altoids container into a mini emergency kit for my purse. I actually have 2...one is for first aid and the other is stuff like safety pins, needle with thread, q tips hair stuff...the misc. kit.
fyi about sponges- there's two types- latex and latex free. Latex free works best for m.u.a. in case a client is allergic to latex and fails to mention it ;)
Thanks for the tips Emily! My prayers go out to everyone with that flu. I have 3 grandsons now recovering,at home and keeping an eye on a fourth. Here in MI we have 194 schools closed,Obama has just declared H1N1 a national emergncy. I have hand sanitizer,Kleenex,Lysol disinf. and anti bacterial soap fully stocked. So please, everyone keep us all in your prayers. God bless!
amazing video, only at 1:47 so far, but you are so helpful, I didn't like the new channel layout at all at firts, but hopefully us youtubers will adapt. :)

That was really great thank you. Loved how you pointed out about the hand sanitizer. Also, your nails are lovely.
Great tools!
What foundation/powder/concealer were you using in this video?
what you said about the little drugstore brushes that come in blush pallettes, i have 2 from cover girl blushes that are fairly full and i cut one so it works for concealer and the other i expanded by pushing my finger in the center to make it bigger so it works as a stippling brush
very helpful! some of those things i would have never thought of using like that tin! thank you for the great ideas!
awesome tips, i use on of my old precription pill containers for extra bobbie pins,a few q-tips, hair tie and a cotton ball. Excellent storage!!!
I just use an Afro comb with metal teeth to lift my "do". THANK YOU soooo much for the information about the gridview and the option to then see all videos. Very helpful!
I LOVE your hair in this video! Is there a tutorial for this?
the way you explain everything is sooo good! your tips are always very useful!
I've watched all your videos and I am a huge fan, and this look ur wearing is my favourite by far. I think you look beautiful in this video. Could you do a tutorial on this look?

do you use the glue that comes in the package with the nails or a different glue??
Emily for the press on nails!! How long is it safe to wear them at a time. The box says two weeks but can we wear them longer?
Great tips. Thank you. I always like products with multiple purposes. I would suggest jojoba oil as a must - it can be used to remove eyemake up, hotoil treatment for hair, leave-in conditioner for hair, moisturizer for skin and lips, shaving, the list goes on...

This vid has been very helpful! I was looking for a good cheap fan brush and now I don't need to, who knew I already had one! Thanks so much!

Thanks for sharing. Blessings.
