Mohd Rafi saheb was good at voice modulation : he could sing softly, extra softly and then change from softness to intensity in his voice. for example the song :Ek haseen shaam ko dil mera kho gaya -compare this song with the song parda hai parda qwaali which requires singing in higher pitches.Rafi sahebs voice had that quality through which he could modulate his voice to suit the situation of the song.Listen to his song Tumse kahoon ik bath paro se where he sings extra softly which no other singer could do.
