The sacrifice that the belters do to save those 52 people always ALWAYS makes me tear up. This show makes something that other shows rarely can achieve, it makes almost every single character compelling, most shows have just one or two people carrying it (usually just the protagonists), but not here, almost all of them are awesome in their own right, evil , good or whateva, its beautiful

The actor did a cameo chat with Angela from FunnyLilGal reacts explaining it. He did MoCap for the goblin and also for some UN Marines in season 2, I believe.
If you were watching closely when the torpedo with the sample was launched your would have seen "simulation" on the screen. There are so many little details that you have to be watching closely to see. Also you were shown/told what the grenade did at least three times before that episode ended. Broken pod. Broken door and outside.

That last scene of them burning up the Hybrid with the Rosi's engine is an ode to the end of the film Alien. The authors and show runners said they based the general asthetic of The Expanse on Alien.
This show has some truly stand-out one-episode characters. Champa, the belter who helped Naomi save 52 people and sacrificed his own spot to save her, is one example.
Bobbie Draper: an incomparable, unparalleled badass, in every way. I'm not going to lie, I simp her hard. Also, Alex's little chats with the Roci are great. And he always calls her sweetheart, which means he must have programmed the ship to know that when he says "sweetheart" he's talking about her. XD And Cotyar is a fun character too. We don't get to know a ton about him, but he's one of the few people in the universe with enough balls to question Avasarala and point out the occasional flaws in her plans. And he always does it with a smirk and a sarcastic remark. I love this guy. :D
Reading the books is a great idea! They're pretty different from the show, the adaptation really had to mix things up to make the story fit in a TV format. The further you get in the series the more that the story diverges beyond the major plot beats. The main difference that I think you'd appreciate based on this video is that the Martians are portrayed in a much more nuanced way; in the show, they're almost always placed in the role of fashy true believers of Martian supremacy. In the books, however, there's a lot of really cool Martian side characters that show that the individuals in their culture can step out of its militaristic mindset to do good where it's needed.
Living in lower gravity (Mars is 1/3rd Earth gravity) weakens your bones over time. "OsteoX" undoubtedly helps counter that. Similar to the word Osteoporosis.
I have to agree that Frankie Adams (Bobbie) is beautiful. She was born on Samoa and moved to NZ when she was four. She is also part Australian Aboriginal on her Dad's side of the family.
Amos is such an interesting character. He doesn’t really make his own decisions. At first, he chose Naomi to make decisions for him, and slowly Holden is becoming part of that. Him trying to make his own decisions is such a good way to show his character.
When Holden talks about the natives not being able to see the european ships, that's nonsense. The book authors have basically said they didn't want that line in the show but that was one of those battles they lost to SyFy who wanted it in for some reason.
Honestly it doesn’t bother me so much because with so much time removed, history gets warped and turns to pure myth. This sounds appropriately apocryphal-a myth that persists in their culture.
Nico is a favorite of mine. I hope he somehow turns up again in Season 6. Being a streetwise and smart survivor in the UN dystopia where most people are on Basic or even Undocumented... of course he knows enough to keep himself safe. He quickly "disappears himself" here for good reason. So many cry for the Belters, when they actually have it great compared to the masses on Earth.

Of note; Bobby and the Cucumber Sandwiches. Cultivating Cucumbers is very water intensive. On Mars, due to water being rare or rationed, cucumbers would be a luxury food, similar to lobster or caviar. 🤔😲
what's really sad about the scene with the belters left behind - Naomi told them to take them all and some could go on the Rocinante - and if they had done that they could have saved them all
And it is a world building touch too. Cucumbers take way too much water to yield inadequate nutrients, so Mars likely never wastes effort on them, making this a rare opportunity for her to have a taste of them.
Your instincts I think are serving you well. Gunny and Chrisjen are even better in the books because there are too many constraints in tv or film production. You'll see how great a job they've done even so when you can compare. Maybe give it another season or so before starting in on the books but then have at it. There's no chance you'll not have fun... The unemployment on Earth shown here, WILL come to pass if we don't destroy ourselves first. Right now we live in an economy of scarcity. Most everything people need or want must be grown or manufactured, and there's more than enough demand for things we have and things not yet created, to keep everyone busy. We compete for the better jobs, but there's plenty to do. At some point in the distant future, ann of that production will be automated, so that no one will need to work, and everyone can have pretty much all they want to live a comfortable and happy life. In between though, there will be a period where some people must still work, but there's not enough work, and barely enough automation to provide for the rest. That what we see in The Expanse.

I love the contrast between how the belters handled it with dignity versus the earthers in season 5 having a hot shooting fight over the last ship.

Even the minor one-off characters are memorable in this show. Very few shows or movies can pull that off so consistently.
Bobbie’s right hook is the real star of the series.
Minor point: Bobbie Draper is no longer a "gunny". She lost that title ("Gunnery Sergeant" in full) when she left the Martian Marines.
