      It was a great episode and you came across really well. One thing though, there's a thing called Tinnitus Retrainment Therapy that you could look into - it's essentially about retraining your brain to tune out tinnitus and (at least from the information I've read anyway) has a decent success rate.

    • @adalon378
      @adalon378 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @Krys89 you can take the standard tests online, or watch a few youtubers who give checklists from the autistic person's perspective (this was the most helpful to me to start with). A good channel where you can find out checklists is Autism from the Imside.
      Rae says she's identifying with some things, but she stops when Sean mentions the difficulties with 9 to 5 jobs. I personally doubt that Rae could be autistic, I think she possesses huge empathy for others, and for what others feel.

      @@adalon378I think a lot of asd peeps are hyper empathetic but it's draining and makes you less social. Not 100% my experience but I've seen a lot of people say this

    • @adalon378
      @adalon378 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@ACE360x no, i didn't say that we are not, i think we are more than most neurotypical people... But we also tend to gravitate towards neurotypical people who are highly empathetic because they understand us a little better at least. Or at least don't shut us down when others do.
      But i was only talking about Rae here, she is a very empathetic person, and maybe that's why she easily connects, understands and even feels others (i.e. empathy), in this case two autistic people. But from i know, i don't see her as autistic, especially when she talks about her life before being famous.

    Lisa talking about being unofficially diagnosed means a lot to me! I was unofficially diagnosed a few years back by a therapist, but have never sought out an official diagnosis for pretty much the same reason as her. Its expensive, the wait times are super long, and there are risks to an official diagnosis as well. I want to move out of the US eventually, and some of the places I'd like to move to wouldn't take me with an official diagnosis.
    Ultimately though, I know I'm autistic and will always chant it from the top of my lungs. I trust the therapist I saw, and I trust myself as someone who's been studying psychology for about half of my existence.

Of course I appreciate some structure and written questions provide a platform to bounce off of, but I'm glad you're not afraid to just let the flow take you where it will. I also absolutely adore Lisa and how as a bit of an "outsider" in this convo (as in not a gaming youtuber) she provides interesting questions and insight, less off the "beaten path". I 100% think I’m on the autism spectrum, though I’ve never been diagnosed. When I was around 15 I asked my doctor if she could diagnose me. I remember she said something along the lines of “does it really matter?” I had an extremely traumatizing experience throughout my entire school life, I’ve been bullied for my intelligence, I’ve failed constantly, despite the fact that I’ve tried constantly. And my last 2 years of high school and the start of my college life was during the pandemic, which did not help. I admittedly haven’t gone to school in a while because of my bad experiences. I think it would’ve definitely helped to know that I was on the spectrum.

      I honestly disagree with one of the people who responded to you. If you have health problems, when you go to the doctor and they see you have autism, you can experience discrimination from that, and not be believed about symptoms and stuff. So it might be better to get ‘unofficially’ diagnosed instead if health issues run in your family

    22:24 The thing about having both autism and ADHD but not being able to say it out loud or get it tested because of your surroundings can be troublesome. It's like having them is both good and bad in a balanced way but just Because of that, I won't hate myself for it; instead, I love being myself. Having autism and ADHD feels like having a good friend you can rely on for years. Even tho i got bullied or studying at home schooling made me understand myself so much.( But so many people are using it as a weapon or a trending tag to jell with people so it's troubling for people who really have it so please test it out before assuming it on yourself or use it as a communication method. )

Calling it a performance is so real I don’t feel comfortable I don’t feel myself and any slip up where a bit of me comes out has me beating myself up because I know others notice too. Glad you guys chatted a bit about Gab, she's awesome! I first found her because she streamed a loooong time ago with the actress who played Quiet in Metal Gear (they are old friends, both from the Netherlands). This was back when Gab was in Japan doing streaming and Japanese translations for video games. It was insane to see her and Sean start dating years later, because I followed her on Twitch, and had followed Sean since back in his Oculus Rift DK days, lol. To see them together was CRAZY, but also really awesome :) Gab has seemed so happy since they got together!

I am late confirmed ADHD and school definitely didn't make sense, but now I am myself a teacher and I can see neurodivergent behaviours or what might be, dyslexia became a focus of mine, so I'm able to give accomodations if the students and I think they will help.
