Huh, that explains alot. Never knew this wasn't and official product. Makes me wonder what they would have called the 16K VIC-20 prototype if it ever came to market...
When I was researching the VIC-30 name I found that it was attached to a few different concepts and prototypes, and one of those was a 16K VIC-20. The most popular use of VIC-30 in the press was for a 16K Commodore 64 though, popularized by Commodore UK management who felt Commodore needed a 16K machine because competitors had one.
I gave away my last two Commodore VIC-20 16K prototypes to someone at the VCF East 2022. Not sure what Marketing was planning to call it. Decided to do the C64 instead of pursuing this (DRAM was a lot less expensive). - Bob Russell
Great bit of commodore history!
Yes, a very interesting story.

Thanks again for a great video, Dave!
Thanks for watching, Andreas!
Then I guess I have a Commodore Vic21 with PET style keys. But my box doesn’t have that sticker yet came with the same ram expansion cartridge.
Nice!
The VIC-21 wasn't a Commodore product... it was TWO Commodore products with a new name :)
Dang! That actually would have been a better closing summary than what I used.

Hi Bob! I saw them at VCF East that year. You gave them to CommodoreZ. Thanks for watching!
Damn and I thought SQNY and Palsonic were reckless rip-offs.
