Thanks for the feedback! I thought I was lucky in that it fired straight away but the exhaust fumes in the cab issue has been really difficult to get to the bottom of. I'm about to post a new vid going over what the issue was - carbon build up on the gauze in the burn chamber. Eberspacher recommend running the D2L on paraffin every year or so to clear any build up. It worked a treat!
I already had the seal as the heater was from my campervan. I guess if you can't source one you could try creating a homemade one? It's main purpose seems to be to protect that area from dirt, etc. That area is very hot obviously so anything you use would have to withstand high temperatures.
Hi Alan did you replace any of the foam insulation inside the Eberspacher?. Just in the process of refurbing mine and looking for some heat proof foam as mine has all turned to dust haha
Hi Billy. Yes, mine turned to dust too! I eventually tracked down some heatproof tape from RS Online. uk.rs-online.com/mobile/p/single-sided-foam-tapes/7336794/
Hi, m'y D2L works well but there is some diesel smelling when running. Wanted to change the gasket but couldn't find anything, do you have some references to indicate? Best regards
Pierre-Alan Michel, I had the same issue and even after all the refurb and augmenting the gasket, it still smelled of diesel. The thing that really worked for me was a paraffin purge. Running the Eberspacher from a little tank of paraffin for a few hours cleaned out the gauze screen around the glow plug. Apparently you can get fumes if that gauze is badly clogged up. Worked a treat for me.
Ok thanks. Do you mean that the change of glow plug could solve the problem, maybe in combination with paraffine running? Because glow plugs are still available new. Otherwise I will have to open the heather. As for the gasket (how many are they?) , how did you proceed to change them? Any references? Best regards
I'd try the paraffin purge first. Could save you many hours of unnecessary work. If they doesn't work, then you could try changing the gasket. I kept the original gasket in but added an extra gasket - erling ewp 210, plus some Hylomar blue gasket compound.
Looks great! I have the same model (I think) Took me a while to diagnose why it wouldn't fire.

Hi, where did you find the red seal "rubber gasket" for the exhaust pipe/sparkplug area? i been searching for it everywhere

was that a heat resistant paint ? , ive just renovated mine with rattle can and am now wandering if i should of used heat resistant
I used Hammerite Smooth Metal Paint. I also treated it first with anti rust primer. The Hammerite can withstand up to 150 deg C.
