    I went to West Point (Class of ‘96) and while I was there we only wore those “India Whites” about 4 times in the 4 years I was there. While it looks sharp, I often felt it was a waste to pay for something I only wore that many times.

    I'm from Romania and I must say that the cadet uniforms are much cooler than the service uniforms. The design looks xix century to me.

      Romania is a lovely country, thanks for the comment! I believe the cadet uniforms are very nice as well.

    Interesting in that one photo is of cadets from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. All seniors on the Summerall Guards. A drill team composed of First Classmen/Seniors.

    i really enjoyed the video! it's very interesting because here in the Philippines the PMA (Philippine Military Academy) is inspired by the american west point and thus their uniforms (and i assume the rank structure also) are pretty similar. The PMA parade uniforms are like the ones mentioned and shown in the video, but in blue, including the overcoat, but in the Philippines i don't think its made of cloth materials, its rainproofed to better fit the climate of our country
    to add to that we also have PNPA (Philippine National Police Academy) which in turn, is the police counter part of PMA, our police have military ranks too and the parade uniforms are also similar, except they are maroon red to set them apart.

    What is that "cape" called on the winter overcoat? Is it a separate piece, or just a part of the coat itself?

    If I’m not mistaken cadets have to pay for all these uniforms themselves so they do get a monthly allowance that most of them use it mostly to bay for all these uniforms. of them. During Their plebe year they are not allowed to go anywhere anyway where they need to spend much money

    Now that we are changing the confederate names of our facilities maybe we can purged the gray from West Point. All other service academies have uniforms that mirror the uniforms they will wear after they are commissioned.

    Nice...but I think I may have heard the the US Army PT uniform (personified) grumbling disrespectfully near the very end of your video review after it became clear that it had been completely disregarded.😉

    I have the cadet dress jacket but it’s black and I have no clue who made it or why. I’ve only ever seen grey ones but mine is black. It has the cadet store tag on the inside but the name is unreadable. Anyone know anything about the black jackets?

    • @WarBondz
      @WarBondz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Does it have patches on the arms and look like a bomber jacket? If that’s the case it’s a jacket worn over the white over grey or as for class in colder weather.

    • @CT-8500
      @CT-8500 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WarBondz it looks just like the regular grey dress jacket but it’s black for some reason. It has a private insignia on the arms

    • @WarBondz
      @WarBondz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not a current uniform item but possibly a past uniform they gave to West Point cadets. I’ll try to find more information and if anyone else has any thoughts please chime in.

      @@WarBondz thank you. I have been looking for any sign of this uniforms presence (or at least the black uniform in general) in West Point for 2 hours and found nothing about it. Not even a picture of someone wearing one. Would appreciate it if you could let me know if you find anything out about it, even if it’s not a genuine uniform

      The jackets worn by the marching band members are black. Not sure if they are the same style as the one you have.

    So all cadets where the garrison cap?

    • @WarBondz
      @WarBondz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ranks higher than a Platoon Sergeant wear the visor cap and any rank below would wear the garrison cap. Sorry if I made that unclear with the way I said it. Hope that clears it up!

    • @masonbay9945
      @masonbay9945 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Everyone wears the garrison cap with afc. Also you only wear a tarbucket for parades in full dress, otherwise you just wear no cover with full dress and you wear white gloves outside. 2ez

      During the early seventies, we did not have a garrison cap although it had been a standard item in the 50s and early 60s. Not sure why it was discontinued for a time. We also did not have short sleeve black class shirts. The class shirt was always worn with a tie that was tucked into the shirt below the second button from the top. A spring-like collar stay kept the collar points down. We never ever wore fatigues (forerunner of BDUs and OCPs) to class like they sometimes do now. Those were kept in the trunk rooms during the school year. We also had a short gray overcoat, a gray jacket and a black parka with the class year on it. The gray jacket zipped up and had the academy shoulder patch with a company identifier included with it. During the summer months we also wore a cotton khaki uniform that had a short sleeve shirt. It was worn with a standard issue officer’s garrison cap and no tie. During drill upperclassman would wear a black helmet liner with the Academy crest affixed to the front.
