Not a protest. An anthem. I was a backing singer in the video. Not the concert. Every time I see it, I remember what a lovely man he was. A real icon of the Australian music scene.
John's concerts were always a massive party. You never went home disappointed, he always delivered big time. And to top it off, he was and is a beautiful human being. He is much loved in Australia.
Biggest selling hit, no idea, he had so many hits its crazy. He had a hit every decade for 5 decades. Many of those decades he had multiple hits. The man is a living legend. Thanks for the reaction.
@@TeacherPaulReacts hi, sure can, try "Help" with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra live, "Burn for You" find a live one. "Chain Reaction" or a duet with Olivia Newton John "Please Don't Ask Me", duet with Jimmy Barnes ""Something is Wrong with my Baby" and others can tell you more
7 decades now Don't forget 2015 and 2016 albums he did with ONJ that both went #1 and his most recent album finding the Voice 2023 that went to number 2.
Hi from Australia ...just subscribed. Yes..This is his biggest hit. There are some great performances of this song that have been recorded over the years. This one is great I think youve already reacted to the one with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra which is spectacular. The fact that he appreciated his fans so much is why we still love him 50 years later and he has such a great story of how he come to be the legend that he is. FROM teen Idol to down in the dumps to the most beloved Aussie for not just his amazing voice but also his humility and humanity. Such an Aussie icon. ❤❤ There are so many other great hits that he had over 7 decades from 1967 right up to his most recent album released this year which also went to number 2. Some of his other big hits and performances ... HELP , Its a long Way to the Top, Two Strong Hearts, Playing to Win and pretty much any song live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. CHAIN REACTION , SEE THE BANNERS FALL, Age of Reason, Touch of Paradise, ,Burn for You, live from the Chain Reaction concert. Other good ones ONE is the Loneliest number from 1969 and 1987 WHEN SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH MY BABY...duet with Jimmy Barnes (another Aussie Legend) Please Don't Ask me duet with Olivia Newton John ANGLES THATS FREEDOM DONT YOU KNOW ITS MAGIC REASONS LISTEN TO THE WIND BLOW BY BLOW WHEN THE WAR IS OVER .. REMINISCING Down on the Border, and We Two from when he was lead singer with Little River Band And where it all started Sadie the Cleaning Lady 1967. ( but recommend you leave that one till you get to know his a bit better lol) Too many to list a these a few good ones to ger you going
Hi Paul, Yes this was a No. 1 for 25 weeks... He is Music Royality here in Australia. Here's some info for you on John en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Farnham
You can watch every single time he sings a particular song and it's like watching it for the first time, none of his performances were the same. John Farnham had so many hits over the years but this song was adopted by us Aussies as our non official national anthem. 👍👍👍🇦🇺❤️

He was broke at this time, his manager believed in him and backed him financially and Farnsey was back on the map
This was epic with the Melbourne symphony orchestra, this is a great version also but the orchestra just added so much.
I went to quite a few of his concerts in my 20s and 30s and they were all amazing.

👍👍👍🇦🇺❤️
In his 1989 Classic Jack Concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, he had a piper like in the original Whispering Jack Tour from 1986/7.
Less of a protest.. More of a 'personal empowerment' anthem.
'Step up, be part of the solution'.. 😁
You need to check out his version of the Beatles' Help with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. It's AMAZING ❤
Hi there!
I think that was the first one I did, it's on my channel ☺️☺️
