Oh my goodness, this is so good. Their relationship hurts so much and the way you drew everything makes an incredible amount of sense. Truly a tragic but beautiful tribute to their experiences without and with each other

The worst part about her story is that she literally sacrificed death for him. Because she’s permanently fused with golb she can’t even die eventually and meet him in one of the dead worlds 😭

So painfully beautiful! This really makes me imagine the big "what if's"...
Like how Betty chose Simon and fell in love with him but at the same time, she forgot to choose herself too. It makes me wonder what her life would have been like if she actually chose to do the things that make her equally as happy as being in love with Simon or if Simon and her got on that bus. Betty is such a tragic character and forever one of my favorites😭

All it took was Simon to notice, but the crown got in the way, and now just one of them is stuck with there choices.
(i'm rambling about stuff here, you can ignore it)
Like a love gone bad that never got to grow and mature, it instead festered within the crown for Simon, wishing for his princess. We know the moment Simon leaves Marceline, he's leaving the bit of sanity he has left behind. He knew this, he was a smart person, that's why he wrote so many things for her while he was all alone. Alone in a ice castle he built himself, and for hundreds of years he probably was fighting it. But I think he decided to "succumb" to it eventually, why wouldn't you? He had to be with his Sadness and also Madness for hundreds of years alone, maybe he never was the "Ice King" but became ice King when things around him just started calling him that. He never chose this, he never wanted this, but he accepted his situation and found peace in his insanity. That's why he misses it, when your too out of it to understand what you've done, it makes everything fun, exciting and saddening. That's why he's a broken old wizard, because HE IS Simons sadness in a curse form. A form he accepts not as himself but just as something to continue living a somewhat Normal life, surviving against the madness.
Then Betty drowned in "The Loomy Gloom all magic users swim in", which is her sadness with madness. She willingly risked her sanity for a man stuck in the same pool she's in now, "you forgot your floaties" means she forgot to take it safe, to protect herself, but no she really is die or try for Simon. Now both affected by madness she hoped to learn to accept Simon, but she said Simon not Ice King. Ice King is Simon now, Simon-ish or Simon was doesn't matter because Ice King is a person that thinks. As soon as they stop treating Ice King as "Ice King bad", he backpaddles and try's to be good. In the episode of, "You forgot your floaties" you can see Simon as "Simon". His glasses are broken with mid level beard, meaning he's the version of himself with Marceline, the last bit of sanity left. With crab claws as hands holding pearls, I think it's a misleading treasure. You think you can save someone by diving in head first, but you don't understand the deep end until your already there. This is why she screamed in that episode, she had no idea, now she does. Now she does, the first ever step she does is fix the crown. But sadly, every failure just makes her more mad. She tries to accept Simon but she can't let go of the past, she is obsessed with it. After failing at changing the past so the crown was never found by Simon, she was sent to mars with King Man to help the madness. That did nothing and probably only made her think of him more, making her madness get so mad,
Mad enough to summon GOLB.

Ahh Mann I just realized my relationship is similar to hers and Simons. My Simon loves me more than anything, but he’s not the type to sacrifice anything for me, while I (Betty) admire him more than the world, and would drop anything and change the course of everything in life for him.
God I can relate, I know he loved me but he doesn't realize how much I sacrificed for him and our relationship since he was completely lost in his own suffering.
