I am deeply convinced that if, by chance, the late Audrey Hepburn was still alive and was, as a result, able to listen to this irreproachable orchestral performance, she would instantly be moved to tears. Words escape me. This version is of rare beauty.

Written by the late, great and legendary Johnny Mercer! Mercer was from Savannah, Georgia, and wrote this song about the river that flowed by his home back in his youth there. The river was renamed, "Moon River", many years ago in honor of Mercer. This song reminds me of Georgia so much, a beautiful state. Teaming up with Mancini equaled pure wonderous magic. This is, without question, the finest and greatest vocal and instrumental arrangement of this song I've ever heard! Tears are flowing down my face...

"Moon River" is a song composed by Johnny Mercer and Henry Mancini in 1961. It was sung in the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's by Audrey Hepburn, the movie's star, while the song itself won that year's Academy Award for Best Song for Mercer and Mancini. 3:47
It's a love song, but not addressed to a lover. The “dream maker” and “heart breaker” is the river itself. It's a metaphor of yearning for the unpredictable eddies of an adventurous life, to be swept along by the currents to somewhere new: “Wherever you're going, I'm going your way.”

Tenemos tres hijas profesionales. This is an example of a song with such a "natural" feel to it, it is hard to imagine how the tune could have remained hidden from us for as long as it was.

Such a great song. When you hear it's many versions, you know Mancini and Mercer just nailed it. Whether it's this spectacular orchestra and chorus or Audrey Hepburn and a guitar, it's unbelievable.

If you don't cry when you hear this, I would be surprised. Absolutely one of the most beautiful and heartfelt songs of the 20th Century by two of the best in music of all time.

Funny how the song is about young people and all the possibilities
of their life ahead - Off to see the world. Yet, as a young person you give the
song little attention, it's only when you are older that the meaning sinks in.
