Is it possible to blur selectively user defined areas in the recording scope?
Nope. Not that I could see.

@@mootys1712 oh I just googled it and found a score that said Home Kit Secure Video.I haven't got Home Kit to test so we didn't use it in the video.
Could you place it on the ceiling looking down?
Yes that would be possible actually. However getting power to it might be difficult depending on your setup of course. I unfortunately would have to trail a cable across the ceiling and down the wall in my place. Not ideal.
