Your attention to detail and sensible approach to modifications is truly an inspiration Steve. I enjoy watching your videos while working on kits of my own. Cheers and good health.
Following along with my own build. Excellent idea on using clear tape to hold the templates in place for drilling the holes for the hand holds. Excellent video series. Thank you so much for putting this series together.
Excellent use of multiple cameras to give us an up-close view and inset wider angle on this gargantuan. I have the Flyhawk 1/700 version as well as the excellent reference book you are using. It's nice to see what the 1/200 version looks like before tackling all those tiny little microscopic parts on mine.
yes you are a craftsman. your videos are out standing.chris.by the way hear in texas you was complaining about the heat right know it's 105 degress in texas. lol
Hi Steve, really enjoying this, as I'm also enjoying Ron Calverley's build (ep 236 on his.) As I said after the first episode I have this kit for a future build and will go back and watch them all again when I start mine. Have to think hard about the Pontos kit though, it's a brutal price. Got flashbacks of the dentist around 25:00. Take care.
Thanks David the Pontos is expensive but I suppose given the modelling time it offers it’s not bad value for money. The sets do add a lot of very fine detail as well which looks good on naval builds.
4:27 I've had parts break on me for no obvious reason too. 7:14 Great two camera technique. 20:20 Yes. that does look better alright. 27:07 Looks as though one of the crew is attempting to sneak back on board. See you next week, and thank you Steve.
Great stuff, the ladder steps are the best I have seen to date, very neat. Didn’t you use varnish to hold the rigols on the Hood and then seal in with the paint? Out of interest how many drills did you break in the end?
I can’t remember now about the hood rigols but I think I glued them. I broke 3 0.3s on the hull - 2 doing the work and one in the box putting the lid on! they’re fragile things…..
I use a variety depending on application. Thick/gel where the contact area is small or you need time to adjust the fit: medium/thin for larger areas or for a quick bond. I’m not fussy about accelerator it all seems the same to me. I use a make called vitalbond on eBay they do glue/accelerator packages.
Two camera perspective is really great. Very nice detailing in the stern section.
Thanks Ralf-Ingo I thought that with such a big model it would be interesting to see both views at the same time. I’m glad you thought it worked.

Thanks Shane that’s nice to hear 👍

You’re welcome Frank good luck with it.
Superb Steve, the hull details are outstanding
Cheers Gary 👍

I couldn’t handle 1/700 - crazy scale for PE
No intention of building this ship (again!) but love watching you work and am picking up a few tips, keep up the good work!
Thanks Dave I will 👍
Great detail Steve. Its what back the ship so realistic.
Thank you 👍
Nice work eyeballing that swinging boom! 👍👍
Thanks - loving the titanic build BTW👍

Nice progress Steve, the clear tape for drilling out the hand iron holes is a good idea, I will have to try that.
Works a treat Jason just remember to make sure there’s no tape adhesive left behind before painting

Thanks Barry 👍
Great build Steve
Cheers Andrew 👍
Brilliant idea of 2 camera views
Thanks Jerry I think it helps with such a big model I think I’ll use it again in the hull painting stage.
Great advise!!!
Thanks Paul 👍

Just checked back on the Hood, you used gloss varnish.
How do you figure put the depth when drilling the ladder rungs
I drill all the way through Pierre then adjust the depth when I fit the rung 👍
Could you advise where you got the small drill bits please?
Amazon Chris - search sourcing map pcp drill bits 👍
Can you advise what medium superglue or gel and accelerator you use for this model, as I am finding so many products and little information on them.

@@TheModelShed Thank you
23:00 go check the sheep!
Is that model a good candidate to motorized and RC.
Guess it could be Luc but I'm no expert in that field
The lad gets stuck in 😅
