Id get home from jr high school and watch this on the superstation tbs. We just moved to a terrible rural location away from friends, walking to school and away from the downtown arcade. But I have good memories of watching starcade on winter early evenings after taking dial a ride home because i hated the bus
Same here, I would run home from the bus stop just to catch this on WTBS. We were lucky enough to have a lot of arcades around us in Louisville, some within walking distance. We would watch this show to see what new games were out then go looking for them to play.
I'm curious on how it was decided on which champions were invited back, or were all the champs invited back. I remember one player being great at Robotron, and I don't remember seeing an episode with him returning. I haven't seen every episode, so maybe I just missed the one with him.
Our criteria for inviting players back varied to . Of course, game playing ability was considered but personality was also a factor. Were they likeable...would viewers want them to win? The player you're talking about is likely David Newburg who scored an amazing 42,500 points to his opponents 19,275 points in 40 seconds...we most likely would have invited him back but sadly his was Eps #114 ... we did not taping any Invitational shows after his extraordinary score. Too bad ... a match between him Tony LaVigna or Robert Castro (Eps #71) would have been amazing! __Mavis
Can I ask a question? I was under the impression there were, in total, 133 episodes, with #035 being the only missing show. But in recent years, some places, including Wikipedia and the official site, have stated there were 123 episodes. What's the reason for this? Thank you in advance.
Got me! There are actually 127 Episodes of Starcade...there are: 1 the Original Pilot with Mike Eruzione as Host 3 shows for NBC with Alex Trebek as Host (we taped 3, we edited only 1) 23 shows with Mark Richards as Host 100 shows with Geoff Edwards as Host That's 127 shows including the lost episode (which Geoff Edwards hosted). I plan to upload all of the Mark Richards and Geoff Edwards shows. I will make a decision about whether to upload the Original Pilot and the Alex Trebek show at a later time. __Mavis
@@starcadetvv Thanks for answering. If someone were to have the missing show #035 from either recording it on VHS or Beta tape or an audio only recording, would you be open to acquiring it to complete your episode library?
Sadly, that is not going to happen. I suspect the tape was used again and a new show recorded over Eps 35, thus erasing Eps 35. I used to put the details of game play when we were editing the show (adding the Open, doing pullups to save time, add the credits, etc.). For Eps 35 my log is blank where the details should be. Eps 35 didn't make it to the edit session thus it did not make it to the vault. There are 394 tapes in a vault in Burbank, CA...not one of them is Eps 35, I'm really bummed about it ... it's a sad fact about Starcade. __Mavis
