I was sceptical when he was first cast for this role, but he is absolutely killing it. Matt Smith is HoTD what Peter Dinklage was to Game of Thrones.
Her acting is so good at that brief moment. She is looking to her husband for a bit of a reassuring look or comfort when shes upset and Daemon is off in his own head revelling at his dark deeds. She knows him too well and just does a double take. So good.
Emma desperately wants to not be hot but she might as well give up....

@@jjs1300000 Marrying Daemon (we are talking the show only) was the correct move at that point. Conflict was inevitable, and it was one of the best ways to secure legitimasy. Marrying another Targ, a dragonrider and a renowned knight.
It killed a lot of the discussions regarding her sons, as the next are undoubtable true blooded targs. It also gives her dark sister, one of the heirlooms.
Now if we look at her political decisions before that, then much can change in the analysis.
And if we take in the book information, then even more would, as Daemon was the kingmaker of his brother.
I loved Rhaenys in this scene. Her hitting Daemon with that accusatory death glare, and his shy and guilty side eye. She KNEW Daemon was the culprit, she didn't have proof but she knew. Even when she told that man to "mind yourself" she still didn't stop stare at Daemon.😂

Everyone talks about Rhaenyra finding out it was Daemon. Rhaenys was the first person who knew it was him. She’s known him the longest and knows him better than anyone else. It also shows Rhaenyra has a blinded view of Daemon as it took her a while.

She was groomed by him from young age, if there is anyone who can control him, it's not her. He fancies her but he also has other women some of whom he has genuine feeling for. She is a half Queen, but even her father, a peak power King could not control him.
If there is a woman who could earn respect from Daemon, it would be someone with honor and grace like Rhaenyra, too bad she is old.

He's not a good man by any means but he does what he does for the people he loves, first for his brother and then for his now wife. Its only later when Rhaenyra really starts to lose her mind that he seemingly strays with Nessie, and even then he still gives his life over the gods eye to remove the most dangerous piece to the cause so that his wife can sit the throne.
I find this argument between rhaenyra and Daemon hilarious. Rhaenyra said " I took this as a challenge", she honestly thought she could change Daemon? 😂. He is arrogant, reckless and cynical, guilty of several crimes, and driven by his own impulsive thoughts and needs.

Criston is a whole saint close to him. He didn't kill no wife cowardly, he didn't decapitate a child even more cowardly, he didn't betray the trust of a brother who loved him so dearly and of a niece he claims to love by exposing her completely and almost disgracing her. I don’t know why this is so hard for everyone. Daemon doesn’t want to rule, he wants to be the hand of the king. His brother wouldn’t do it. Rhaenyra wants to make all of the decisions. The reason for a hand is to do the things a king can’t or won’t. Daemon wanted to do this for his brother who was weak in many ways. He tried to do it for her. Both of them couldn’t see that daemon had evil in him, and used it against his enemies, not them.

Well said. That was symbolized beautifully in s1e8 when he puts the crown on Viserys and in the next scene as he draws his dagger Daemon acts as an extension of his hand to decapitate Vaemond. Whole scene was a masterpiece honestly. Also ironically.. Daemon is by far the most fit to rule out of the whole bunch with their claims. And it's probably eating at him that he has to witness the downfall of the greatest dynasty at the time because he had to give up his claim to more incompetent people. More or less..

Although I’m not Team black or green (it’s all one house both sides having characters I enjoy) I’ll admit I really liked the scene where Daemon is at harrenhal it’s one of the coolest scenes so far! You can tell that no matter how savage he is having the murder of a child (his nephew) starting to weigh on his mind was a great idea!

Alicent made her and her family's lives a living hell to the point they fled to Dragonstone just to get away from her and her schemes. Father of her children was brutally murdered by Alicent's chief advisor. Cole was alive and well to hate her even after ruining her wedding.
He didn't give additional support until he married her and even then, it was just him helping make a united front against Alicent during the fiasco at Driftmark.
And after Viserys died, DAEMON didn't do anything for her that was tangible. He made the situation WORSE by getting the poor baby killed and thinking he's slick telling a man he's just met to commit atrocities in crown's (Rhaenyra's, as they're one and the same) name, not having learned SHIT from the Blood and Cheese incident.
I will forgive him now saying HE'S going to rule in King's Landing and Rhaenyra can join him because he's honestly tripping balls in Harrenhall, but he wouldn't have gotten to that point if he didn't drag his feet and petulantly refused to send Rhaenyra any letters out of his own pride and wounded ego, which in turn makes her look weaker in front of her council because she can't control him.
