    I'll never understand why anyone would pay so much for re-issues. Originals are the only records I have ever paid a high price for. They are what symbolize the era & tell the story of Elvis long after their original owners have passed. Just like vintage furniture, I'll buy the antique original before buying a pressed-wood reproduction.

    These are not the original LPs these are reproductions from the 2000s personally I would never pay this kind of prices for that stuff but that's just me the originals are still the best

      He’s referring to albums that came out on the follow that dream label in the 2000s. Yes, they are originals. He’s not a referring to the original RCA versions in some cases the track listings are entirely original and different and one of those is an album that never actually came out. It’s a premium label for serious collector fans and they really didn’t put enough of them out. I happen to have been lucky enough to get them except for one or two I’m hoping they reissue some of these titles- like they recently did with the Moody blue FTD.

    Very interesting video Ed,no one forces people to pay these ridiculous prices that’s why I think ftd will re release a lot of the earlier albums as they’ve done with moody blue on gold vinyl for people to buy them who didn’t get them first time around

    Hi Ed, i have ALL of the FTD Products (CD, Vinyl, Book) since 1999 in my Collection and my complete FTD Vinyl Collection is still sealed👍!
    The most $ i spent on Elvis was "The Complete Elvis Presley Masters" Sony Legacy 30 CD first Edition numbered Box-Set from 2010 plus the Sony 30 CD Promotion CD-Set of it (in total around $ 1.000,--)
    Well, my four original SUN 45rpm Singles were also pricey ($ 350,-- each one in VG+ Condition but with the original brown Sleeve)...but so what, i love my Elvis Treasures and 🎶Who Needs Money🎶 ...i do😄 Thank You Ed!

  • @sentinel3504
    @sentinel3504 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    I’m own more than a few FTD vinyls but Im just floored by what some people have paid for them in the secondary market. They were basically released to be collectible so that means 90% or more of the copies sold are probably still in mint condition. Of that 90% maybe 25% or more are likely still sealed. It’s not like they are a mono Speedway album where few mint copies exist. For most releases as far as I know, we don’t know how many copies were released. There’s nothing on them that isn’t available on the FTD CDs and in most case the vinyl copies contain less material. They are taken from a digital source so basically CD sound on vinyl. Most sound great but I don’t think they sound better than the FTD CDs of the same material. I sense a bit of the Colonels spirit in the hype for them. I have a feeling we will be seeing more of these albums reissued to meet the demand of fans who want the vinyl to listen to and of course the hardcore collectors will begrudgingly buy them again so their collections remain complete and because there’s a chance that the reissues are pressed in smaller numbers and in a few years become the more collectible of the two. It’s difficult to know when to sell if you want to make a big profit. If 100 people decided to sell their copy of Standing Room Only tomorrow are there 100 buyers willing to pay over $500 or even $100 for a copy? There are millions of Elvis fans but when it comes to the real hardcore, spend big money collectors you might be looking at that number being in the 100s. They are great releases but I would caution the casual collector to be careful investing too much money trying to obtain the FTD vinyls. But to each their own. If you enjoy and can afford go for it.

    Wow is right...and you are correct that some went for even more on Ebay. As someone who only began buying the FTD LPs about a year ago I have to say that a little patience and keeping a diligent eye out saved me, for the most part, from the super outrageous prices. That's not to say I didn't over pay on some, I certainly did. I have them all now and got a great price on SRO...I settled for an open copy. What do I care, I would've opened it anyway. The prices on these won't last long term, no that it matters to the collectors, like me, who don't plan on selling. The two things that I think will keep prices high for awhile and the (hopefully) Baz Luhrman concert film and the 50th anniversary coming in 2027. Maybe that'll bring enough new collectors when old timers like me have "left the building" 🤣🤣

    These are FTD releases. These are people that are over paying for these. I would take a Memphis to Vegas/Vegas to Memphis sealed with sticker and photos inside over these. These are great and collectible, but not worth that kind of money. You buy off eBay you usually overpay. To each their own. I remember paying for a Robert Sarnoff and A Tribute to Jim Finn for over a grand.
