Zola began his career in the USD Nuorese in 1984. In 1986 he moved to the Torres of the city of Sassari. In 1989 came the jump to the top category when he signed for Serie A Napoli, the youth and talent of Zola was a great help for Napoli, which thanks to the leadership of Diego Armando Maradona, would win the Scudetto in 1990. Zola he always professed great admiration for the Argentine and even declared: "Everything I know, I owe to Diego." Sono praticamente d'accordo con te, tranne su Baggio, se calcoli che ha giocato tutta la carriera con mezzo ginocchio invece che 2 capisci quanto era devastante Baggio, troppo forte, il vero numero uno di sempre, non Pelè (che a parer mio è sopravvalutatissimo, solo perché brasiliano) . @@federico7273 Baggio era indubbiamente forte, ma si è mangiato almeno il triplo dei gol fatti da Zola che invece non perdonava. Quanto a Pelè, ti sei espresso con l'ignoranza di uno che non lo ha mai visto veramente giocare. Stiamo parlando di un FUORICLASSE cui si stima abbia fatto più di 1000 goal considerando anche le partite non ufficiali. Nel 1974 lo vidi a San Siro giocare una amichevole nel Santos contro L'inter: NESSUNO (dico.. nessuno !!!) dei giocatori neroazzurri riuscì a toglierli la palla per tutto l'arco dell'incontro. Il goal della vittoria naturalmente fu suo. E non aggiungo altro...

Baggio con tutti gli infortuni gli stop le tattiche che lo intralciavano mentre giocava con una gamba e mezza contro le difese più forti della storia del calcio nel campionato più catenacciaro della storia del calcio, con i suoi stessi CT contro, ha una media gol che è la più alta tra tutti i numeri 10 italiani comparsi negli ultimi 40 anni.

Non ci credo, hai fatto anche il mitico Gianfranco! Maradona al Napoli gli aveva ceduto il 10 e lo aveva designato come suo erede. E potrei non aggiungere altro per descrivere la sua grandezza. Sono più che sicuro che con lui e Signori in formazione nel 94 ( assieme a baggio) avremmo battuto il Brasile e non ai rigori, non saremmo nemmeno arrivati ai supplementari. Un tridente da sogno. Zola il più sottovalutato di sempre in italia, fortuna che al Chelsea lo hanno osannato come meritava, i tifosi lo hanno addirittura eletto come giocatore simbolo e non è che ne hanno avuto pochi di fenomeni in rosa negli anni. Considerando inoltre che solo in italia ha segnato 19 goal su calcio di punizione ( 5 migliore della storia pari merito con baggio e dietro solo di 1 gol a Totti e 3 a Del Piero che in serie a ci sono nati e morti...) se aggiungiamo quelli che ha segnato in Inghilterra è sicuro il miglior cecchino su punizione della storia italiana. Immenso Zola.
Baggio e Zola giocavano praticamente nello stesso ruolo... si sarebbero pestati i piedi. Forse con un 4321 ad albero di Natale ma non so se all'epoca fosse già in voga

Ti sbagli di grosso Zola non era assolutamente sottovalutato in Italia solo che la gente preferiva a lui Roberto Baggio, Zola non giocò la finale contro il Brasile perchè semplicemente era stato espulso in semifinale o avrebbe sostituito il caro Baggio che era arrivato in finale stremato e infortunato.....ti dico di piu' per quello che ho visto di lui in campo in quanto a classe lo paragono a un piccolo Lionel Messi, solo che Messi è piu' veloce, continuo e gioca in un calcio moderno ....in quanto a giocate Zola non ha nulla da invidiare all' Argentino.
Vi dimenticate che il Brasile aveva Romario che era 10 volte meglio di Baggio o Zola.

Football back in the 90's really was better to watch. There were more superstars who were trully special. Playing in a time when the game wasnt full of divers, they were tougher mentally than the players of today. And zola was one of those guys in the premier league for chelsea. Great player.

Better than Del Piero in my opinion, not better than Baggio. I think he was underrated because of how much political power Juventus had (and still has) in the Italian football scenery. Del Piero was always preferred instead of him even though we can all surely say that the "Juventino" failed in the National Team. That's what will always make him an inferior player compared to Baggio, Totti and others. When Italy needed him the most, he didn't perform well, as everybody expected. Don't get me wrong, Del Piero is anyway one of the greatest Italian Players ever, but to me and to many in Italy he was highly overrated and this precluded chances for other players like Zola, who was playing in much smaller teams. Take this example: Del Piero was a part of the Italy national team already for Euro 96, while at his peak arguably, and still didn't live up to the expectations. One would think that for the next important tournament Italian coaches would give other great players the chance to play in the national team... Well that didn't happen and Del Piero, together with baggio got a call to play in 1998 FIFA World Cup. I understand Baggio obviously, who was one of the greatest players ever and Infact even though already past his peak years amd multiple injuries performed well. But Del Piero. He didn't do well in Euro 96,where he was arguably the player with more expectations built upon because he was young and good, and underperformed also at the World Cup, while Zola was left home!! He wasn't part of that World Cup squad!! Watching what he was capable of doing there should've been no way that Del Piero was a part of the squad and Zola not. Oh and this thing is also true for every other important tournament in which Del Piero took part: World Cups 2002,2006 and other than 96 also at Euros 2000,2004. In 2000 he basically was in the worst shape of his career coming back from a serous injury and played horribly throughout the whole campaign, making us lose the final basically. So, Del Piero has been, without further explainings, certainly one of the Greatest Italian players ever but in my, and many many others', opinion never reached the level of pure talent, technique of Zola or others. He was just in a way a bit luckier to play in such a heavyweight of football in Italy while players like "the Magic Box" Zola were underrated because they couldn't show their flair and talents because they didn't get the opportunity to play in the National Team due to Del Piero occupying the spot and systematically disappointed.

@@lefty7127 Totti performed well in the 2006 World Cup. Best assistman of the and entire tournament. He was also put into the Tournament's dream team. His goals tally with thr national team isn't really impressive at first glance but if you'd analize the way he was deployed while playing with Italy you'd understand that his time playing with the Italian national team was actually very bright. Non on the same level of Baggio or others but still infinitely better than what Del Piero did.
