same story here but i already have few years of experience. let me tell you that it will a hell of a fun path. i was on Traktor final scratch and vinyle turntables before and decided to go the new route with this compact Numark controller and i feel almost at home already. with the money i got for my old set, i could afford this and a bit more stuff. i love when new technology goes in the right direction like that. this controller is fun as F. but any controller like this is a good option no matter the brand you take in this price range. i just wanna see now how it stands the test of time. if it goes well, i'll never get something bigger with more options because i don't need it. this thing already has what i need. cheers mate

While other channels’ “reviews” are really more like infomercials, your reviews come across as an honest assessment of how well I may actually get along with the product. Like, knowing that the jog wheels are heavy, maybe not the best for scratching but great for beat matching - that’s actually really attractive to me since I’m scratching on vinyl and wanting a controller to run serato until I can afford SC5000’s.

I'm still in all that you guys use a logictech c920 for your overhead camera. I use the logictech streamcam as my overhead camera and can't get half of that quality lol
Exactly , he switched to deck 4 where he is using a loop coming in the mix at 3:42. The loop goes out the mix at 5:11.You can see the decknumber in the richt/left upper corner on the serato display. After that he has to reactivate de volume fader from deck 2 by moving him up. Virtual decks are complicated but when used to it, very simple.
Brilliant mix on this numark - personally I love numarks against pioneer on for beginners ..... I taught myself on dj2go2 and as much as it lacks eq and trim controls it really was treat to basically blend and beat match .... for the pioneer ddj 200 after and don’t rate it at all
How can i hook it up to some old home theater speakers? They have the traditional red and black speaker inputs. HELP! & I want to add in my subwoofer as well

I was just thinking if pioneer updates their current most popular controllers like the SB3 or 400, maybe upgrade a few features and max the price at a solid $300 i think they'd sell like hotcakes
@@shroud4269 In an idea world, but like most acquired companies they have financial gain agendas, so it would have to sit price range somewhere between their 400 and 800 otherwise it would cut into the sales of either unit... I beleive it's all about market balance. Personally I would pay up to $800NZD for this "gap in the market" entry-mid range controller, currently that's $150NZD more than the 400. But as we don't live in an ideal world and my needs as a track selector are just that, I'll probably end up going with the Numark Platinum Fx and trade full rekordbox for serato lite.
@@tmus1905 i actually just bought a hercules starlight for like $90 USD, because frankly I didn't want to dish out $250 just yet for an sb3 or even ddj400. Problem i am facing is upgrade path in terms of what controller has what features, and even if i want to use rekordbox or serato pro. Right now for $100 i can get my feet wet with serato light, and once i have good grip of what im doing, i either upgrade my hardware and commit to serato(by getting pro), or looking at a ddj400 and swapping to rekordbox after i have a general understanding of mixing/blending, song structure and using effects etc.

Hi, great mix! One question though, if you are playing on deck one and your bass knob is turned all the way down and you swap over to deck three will the bass be set all the way down on deck three? Or does it remember what bass setting there are for each deck before the swap (layer)?
Just bought one yesterday and tested. It won't affact deck3, the deck will remember all the setting it has. If u want to change setting of deck1 after messing around with deck3, u first need to turn the knob to deck1's previous setting location, then the knob will function normally. Hope I explained well, it is a bit hard to understand😂
This happens sometimes with external BPM displays, usually occurs when the BPM is so close to the next round up value that the external display doesn't update. So for example if the BPM is 90.95 the screen will update and round up but the device won't. Happens with lots of controllers from various manufactures, just a little bug and the BPM difference is so small you'd never notice it!
@@movieclip8813 He is recording two things: What he does on the controller and what happens on the screen, then he puts them together in a video editing software and syncs them up :)
Hello i have a problem with my serato software on the same controller. My serato dj lite keeps playing on deck but there is no sound and when i want to change something like load a other track on deck it crashes. Have you had this problem?

He used the sync buttons... He used sync function a number of times during the mix but the 6:29 time you are referring to, the sync was activated at about 5:54... Start watching back from atleast 5:50 or so and you should be able to catch it...
Sync the decks 1 and 2, then your able to layer the 3rd and maybe a 4th over tracks 1 and 2, using the same controller! It's a bit fidly and a lot going on, lol!
Great mix, I have gone back and fourth so much over this and the Hercules impulse 500 for the last month, but in the end the FX won out for the paddles and long crossfaders, with screens i think on the next step up it will have to be pioneer but now having been a bedroom mixer in my youth with 1210 mk2s this looks like more fun to get my skills back. (sold my decks and vinyl to go towards my wedding, so regret it)
I'm 41 and in a similar position, 6 year old daughter asked for decks for Xmas so I did a bit of research and low and behold there is one of these under the tree for bother of us....I mis my 1210's mk2 😕

Finally a mix where the 3rd/4th deck is used! Such an often forgotten about feature of this controller and one I’ve been most intrigued about.
You can see how effective this long pitch fader is in this mix, going to exact pitch with ease without skipping numbers like shorter pitch faders

Yup, u can also get the Numark pro fx which is the same instead it lacks 4 deck mode and the display, but it costs 200$ instead of 250$

Old school here.. My numark is still in box at home. Is the DJ using headphones to listen to the que track at all?
Yes he hits the headphone cue at 5:59 but seems mostly It's being done by ear from the main mix and watching the waveforms I guess

Right now we are most impressed by the new Numark models. We still have a lot of love for the DDJ-400 and Rekordbox software though!
