Yes, it is quite hard and frustrating but it's better to do it with 2 people if you can, one holding the boombox and one twisting the side bumpers but I didn't have 2 people so I used 2 big pliers to twist the side bumpers and used my legs to hold it. You gotta turn it quick and hard to the left and after a few tries it should come off. The first time is always hard but the next time you decided to take it off it will be much easier
