By far the best Graviteam content on TH-cam in my opinion. I like and hate the game to almost the same degree. It creates intense immersion, but on the other hand, the UI and order system is often extremely awkward. For instance, at 31:43: The feedback of the UI is awful. If you work with modifiers, you always have to track the sequence of orders in your brain. If you mess things up, you have to create the entire chain again. Even more worse is the case when you do not know that you mess things up because the UI doesn't track all things. Some kind of List with all orders of a chain would be awesome where you can change stuff in case the sequence haven't already started.
Agreed. And for some reason, for myself, I cannot even delay orders unless I begin holding the shift key first. All other chained orders, you don't hold shift until after the first order.
I started playing and learning about games focused on the eastern front about 10 years ago with CoH 2, then I moved to Men of war for a little bit more of realism, then it was Gates of Hell, recently I started playing Steel Division looking for even more immersion, now I found Mius-Front and my mind blew up, I'm eager to see more videos from you, I wanna learn how to play this and do it by myself, the ultimate immersive strategy-tactical game of the eastern front, awesome content! Keep it up
Somehow I missed this for almost a week - great video as always! One of these days, I'd like to see a video going over the battlegroup setup ( 5:07 to 11:27 in this video) explaining how everything works and why you might want to make certain choices for certain situations. I typically just go down the list choosing "anti-infantry" or "anti-tank" - which ever is most applicable, though I feel like I'm just doing something because I was told to, not because I understand it. I should probably read the game manual some day, but if I can get a wonderfully created video instead...! :) Also, I see there's a new DLC (Operation Victory) which released on the same day of this video, which is an operation in the war between Iraq and Iran in 1980! That might be an interesting one to cover in the future!
Your commentary is making this game much much easier to get back to and attempt a patient play through. Compared to the 3-4 other channels I follow for this game this one video has more detail than all of them combined.
Sd.Kfz. stand for: "Sonderkraftfahrzeug" (Special motorized vehicle). Also in germany we call them "Halbkettenfahrzeug" (halftrack vehicle) or "Leichter Schützenpanzerwagen" (light infantry armored car). Most of the wargamers in germany just say "Halbkette" (halftrack). :-)
@@TheWarSimmer You can also use "Schutzenpanzerwagon" (literally protective armored vehicle, shortened to SPW) which is essentially the German equivalent of "APC". For proper designations, that shorter type of halftrack with 5 sets of road wheels per side is an "Sd.Kfz. 250". The longer ones with seven sets of wheels is a Sd.Kfz. 251. Each different configuration (radio command, mortar carrier, AT gun carrier etc) recieves a /number to denote configuration, for example the Sd.Kfz 250/10 has the 37 mm pak gun in place of the machine gun, but all of that is getting quite deep into the weeds.

Good to know the bit at 1:01:41 about how rush attacks can only be carried out by mechanized and armoured BGs because I recently got rushed and lost one of my two companies, all 6 AT guns, most of my MGs and all of my mortars because I didn't know there would be armour attacking me lol. This practically destroyed my flank and the Soviets still have 5 tanks to play around with.
I know this channel seems to be defunct, but i'll still throw a sub. I just picked up Graviteam and have probably learned more just by your gameplay vids and tutorials than anyone elses. Like i was seriously to the point of frustrastion on lack of information. Anyways, thanks and hope youre doing good wherever you are !
Brutal fighting, excellent video. Really liked the close in fighting around the building and guns. Can’t imagine the intensity of being a foot soldier on the Ostfront. What a nightmare.
Thanks for your videos and for explaining what you are doing when playing. You are literally getting me into this game (it's like playing a movie it's crazy). Hope the devs are ok.
Those light armoured half tracks you fought were Sd.Kfz. 250 (the standard ones with the MG) and Sd.Kfz 250/10 (the ones with a 37mm AT gun). The term "Sd.Kfz" is an abbreviation of Sonderkraftfahrzeug meaning "special purpose vehicle" and was used in combination with a number as an inventory designation. All German vehicles had an Sd.Kfz. number, for example the Panzer IV was the Sd.Kfz 161, the Panther was the Sd.Kfz. 171 etc. Great video by the way!
Thank you. It's something that has never been clear to me. I know that some of the halftracks have different guns, but is there a good "standard" term for those type specifically? Would "half-tracks" suffice?
@@TheWarSimmer Honestly, I just use gerneral terms like "half-track", or "german half-track", even when talking about them with people I know who are into the topic. I sometimes say "250" or "251" when I really need to be specific between the light and medium german half-tracks, but I think using general terms like "half-tracks" is perfectly fine and also doesn't leave anyone new to WW2 history in the dark.
Notice that Line of sight map has multiple options. You're looking things from vehicle perspective aka higher from the ground. Right-click it and you can get standing man and crawling man perspective. I think this might be the issue.
Is there a campaign starting at the beginning of the war with the invasion into Poland? Would love a Panzer General-esque campaign to follow a unit through the major offensives of the war
As far as radio, “limited” means the range is limited. One-way radios are marked as “half-duplex” and are red. Actually, reading the manual, “limited and blue” is listed as “needing to stop”, but seeing how M4 mediums communicate on the move in the game (as they should - the range increases when stationary, but it’s more than enough on the move with game’s distances) this must not be right. Particularly on M3 light, “limited” is probably incorrect, as it has (according to the game’s encyclopedia) SCR-210 installed, and that is a receiver-only set.
This may just be the encyclopedia not matching the implementation in the game, since both 210 (rcv-only) and 245 (two way) could be installed on this tank.
Your videos are awesome. This though is what makes this game so daunting to get into. I start a battle in the campaign and just get totally overwhelmed by the number of units I have to figure out what to do with and find on the map. Also, when troops get tired, do they automatically rest a bit, or do you need to intervene? Also, a 'zero-in point' for arty is the same as a TRP in Combat Mission, correct?
One consideration I have when playing is, would the reserve support units actually be available for the operation? Or should they be treated as general reserves that are allocated to regiment, or division, that may or may not be freely available. I will often therefore not assign support deliberately as I feel like it may not have been so easy to just assign them in real life. Furthermore doing things like replacing 1st coy units with 8th coy units as platoons take casualties/lose combat effectiveness, the same reasoning might apply. Does anyone have opinions on this, what is/is not appropriate given the context/tactical constraints of these operations?
57:40 wtf they are doing with this PAKs xD they are literally glued to them, move entire gun no one know where, AI is perfect. In men of war they would switch from AT ammo to explosive ammo and response to infantry fire.
@@sturzkampfdrossel8242 still its better doing this than showing festival of bugs, they could at least switch to rifles or run away like in total war series.
