The worst thing about Rahm Kota was that you find him drunk in the bar because he says he can't use the Force any more because he's blind...but what was the very first thing that Obi-Wan taught Luke?
As deceptive as Kreia proved to be, IIRC she doesn't ever outright lie. With enough influence, she openly admits to being a Sith Master, and enough of a threat for the other too members of the Sith triumvirate to gang up on her. Keep in mind: she was shaping you into a tool to kill the force itself, not to be a model Jedi or Sith.
Well she lies if you follow the Jedi way plus if you turn your Force Sensitive members to the light side she refuses to join the party on certain planets. If you slide towards the dark side, she uses you and your cohorts to spread her will on other Siths and Dark Lords and she tells you her plan to destroy the Force itself because she hates life that much.
She does not hate life. That is completely untrue. She even says herself that there is no victory in killing all life. She wants to see the Force die because it is manipulative and does not carry how many lives are lost to achieve its game of balance.
I don't know if Kreia fits this list, despite her betrayal and manipulation, her teachings actually were extremely valuable and she did care about the Exile and genuinely wanted them to learn. Her idea of the force was very pragmatic and lacked the light and dark narrow-minded philosophy of the jedi or sith. The Exile used Kreia's teachings to defeat both Darth Nihilus and Darth Sion, both of which would have been unbeatable otherwise. True, she had a deep madness and wanted to destroy the force, but that made it all the more meaningful when the Exile finally confronted her and they dueled physically, spiritually, and philosophically. Kreia ended up learning from the Exile and was finally able to find peace before death. I really don't think Kreia should be in the same category as Rahm Kota.
Thing is, this list isn't just about incompetence. It's also about mentors who are abusive and/or using you for some twisted scheme. Her teachings may be of use, but Kreia's still treating you as a pawn in her plot to destroy the Force, trying to lead you astray with her myopic excuse for a moral compass, and being an abusive dick to half your party as well as various NPCs. Also, her teachings have nothing to do with your defeating Darth Nihilus. _That_ is down to your screwy Force connection, which you had before you ever met the old baggage, giving his large-scale Force Drain indigestion.

Achilles was the only one left alive because of Shay's mercy, who didn't let Haytham kill him but cripple him instead. They would surely come after him again if they knew we was trying to bring back the Assassins.
Even after all these years, I still don't get the hate Connor gets. Is it because he's human and driven by his emotions, compared to Altaïr the killing machine and Handsome Ezio?
Mathieu Pr - To be honest, for me it was the voice actor that killed the character. Very wooden and emotionless voice acting. Other than that and the lack of (high) buildings to climb, I quite enjoyed AC3. Completed the game three times.
Welp, I won't say anything about his voice since I played in French, but is it that bad in English? That's sad, 'cause Connor may be the most emotional Assassin in the franchise, it's a shame if his voice don't show that....
Achilles wasn't a bad mentor. He was just reluctant after what happened to Shay(most of the entire assassin brotherhood in America was destoried) His death was so sad, he didn't live long enough to see his final student succeed😭😭😭😭
But he was kind of a shit mentor to Shay himself. Yeah, Shay could've been a bit more diplomatic with the whole "destroyed cities" thing - it's not like he didn't have weeks or months at sea to work through what happened at Lisbon before getting back to the colonies and completely blowing his top - but Achilles probably could've caught onto the whole "earthquake in both places you were looking for Precursor artifacts" thing if he had bothered to actually pay attention to what set Shay off so completely. The whole of Rogue is about half Achilles' fault, half Shay's.
What about Paladin Danse? He invites you into the brotherhood after one mission in which you nearly kill him with fire. Then he tells you that synths are bad and that you should kill them but he's a synth.
Never again will I trust an African American in a dapper colonial uniform, with a handmade directed energy weapon, on a burned-out museum balcony. I'd feel a bit racist if that situation weren't so goddamn specific.
Hey i'm an african american in a dapper colonial uniform with a handmade directed energy weapon on a burned-out museum balcony and i take offense too that!

"i wouldn't want to piss her off" you shouldn't have said that Jane. now we know that kreia is one of the few people you fear. find a few more and we can stop your evil " every city is jane city" plan.
Not for nothing, but I feel like Achilles is sort of the odd one out.. The others betray you or give you such terrible advice that it leads to your death. Achilles is just a grumpy old man who dies of old age.
I reckon a good video idea would be "worst things to come from small mistakes", an example being the end of the first season of Telltales The walking dead series, with Lee looking for Clementine and well, you know what happens.
Yeah, that applies to a LOT of rpg games with multiple endings. Like I was playing "Negligee" (don't judge me), and because of one wrong dialogue choice, instead of a getting happily-ever-after ending running a shop with my sexy lesbian harem, I ended up being fired and my store closing down forever. Sad day.
Or CJ failing to follow the damn train caused a cancerous meme to be unleashed years later. Or how in TES IV: Oblivion, an error in prison paperwork caused a prisoner to be freed. That prisoner would not only prevent Lord Dagon's new world order, but would initiate a spree of theft, murder, and political domineering culminating in literally becoming the god of chaos.
He locked Robin away, leaving him vulnerable to being kidnapped. Told Nightwing to get lost. His help could’ve been of use. Jason Todd is self explanatory
Conner was a great Assassin and a great character. If you play the game with an open mind and from the eyes of Conner, you realize he's a very deep and well developed character.
You guys may have missed an environmental fact of the relationship between Connor and Achilles in AC3. Connor's American moniker of Connor, given by Achilles, was the name of Achilles own deceased son, which you can find on a gravestone at the Davenport homestead, but it is very difficult to read. P.S. Eagle vision helps immensely. Also, there are many things I could say about your opinions on Connor and AC3 in general as someone with a modicum of Native American heritage, and having lived on a Mohawk reservation for about a month and a half, but as I am only on late sequence 5 at this point in time, I will reserve that opinion.
What about Letsdiemosa from Titanfall 2? All he does is loading you into a simulation to test basic combat training while talking about himself and to make you pass some sort of killhouse while not even offering weapons most commonly found on the battlefield. Then he continues his bad mentorship with dying in the first mission and leaving you with the responsibility of a high tier titan deep in enemy territory. Thx.
Alex Healy he survived because he wouldn't let clones on his squad therefore he was nowhere near clones when order 66 was ordered so it had nothing to do with skill more like luck
@@theanarchist9224 he didn’t use clones because he didn’t trust them and saw them as inferior to soldiers he could recruit himself. That wasn’t luck, it’s him being right not to trust them.
In Achilles defense, he played a integral part in the destruction of the Colonial Brotherhood. He eventually realized this and when Connor came he didn't want the latter to fail just like him. The most significant implication of this is the line: "In your haste to save the world boy, be careful you don't destroy it."
before AC3 Achilles was training a team in AC: Rogue and sure he may have done a good job on training them but look at what he knew had to be done to get the pieces of eden... CAUSE GODDAMN EARTHQUAKES AND DESTROY CITIES?! after that one of his students (Shay Cormac) decides that Achilles is the bad guy and stole a book with the locations of the pieces of eden from him and to top that whole betrayal Shay joins the Templars, then kills all of Achilles's students, and Adewale and near the end of the game ACHILLES FINALLY ACKNOWLEDGED SHAY WAS RIGHT?! and the award for worst mentor goes to Achilles Davenport
Big Welcome to Ellen and Luke! glad to have Outside Xtra on my subscribed list! Plus, ellen is such an adorable little thing! keep kicking ass everyone!
I'm surprised Adam Malkovich from the Metroid franchise wasn't brought up, especially since he's literally more helpful when he's dead in Fusion than he ever was in Other M.
You forgot Bioshocks Atlas! He spends the whole game helping you "free" Rapture from the tyrannical Andrew Ryan, only to find out he was just using you to get Andrew out of the way so he could take control of Rapture, and tries to kill you the moment you succeed.
What about "7 game choices that have a painfully obvious wrong one". Such as kill your girlfriend in Far Cry 3, Refusal ending in Mass Effect 3, trusting Handsome Jack in Tales from the Boderlands episode 4, all the bad ones in cod Black ops, etc
I never understood the "Don't kill your arch nemesis after you defeated him because you're better than him blah blah don't bring yourself down to that level blah blah you'll be tempt by the dark side blah blah". You won't kill your mortal enemy but killing thousands of his henchmen is just fine I guess.
What about Master Xehanort from Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep? *Spoilers for Birth By Sleep, just in case:* He almost kills Ventus by forcefully extracting the darkness from his heart, and he manipulates Terra into succumbing to his darkness so that Master Xehanort can essentially hijack Terra's body, AND he almost destroys the world to summon Kingdom Hearts... OUT OF CURIOSITY. Oh, and he effectively causes all the bad stuff that happens from Kingdom Hearts 1 through Kingdom Hearts 2, and everything in between (that is, all the handheld games). Presumably Kingdom Hearts 3, too.
REALLY? Achilles was on this list because he died of old age what the hell do you expect him to do magically live to 300? Achilles was an amazing mentor
0:56 - Vader's a terrible mentor. He continually throws Galen Marek at Jedi Masters who are more powerful than he is, expecting him to die, then stabs him in the back (literally and metaphorically). Also, Kreia was an EXCELLENT mentor, if you pay attention. She shows you the hypocrisy of the Jedi and the folly of the Sith. She teaches you stand on your own two feet, and how to do whatever it takes to survive. Her teachings were the ones that made Revan as strong as he was. And, it's Darth Traya, not Darth Trayus.
Here's a spin: how about the high chaos ending in Dishonored? It's a stretch since the *player* is the mentor, but I raise an eyebrow* at Corvo's "murder is the solution" approach to raising young children who are to become sovereigns. (I did like Emily's evil paintings, though.) * You may interpret this as, "I raise an eyebrow at my own behavior as a so-called hero," but I shaved my eyebrows off in that regard as soon as games started giving me rifles and places to hide.
In AC: Syndicate Henry is not a mentor. In fact Jacob and Evie ignored their mentor and went to London. In the Spiderman games the disembodied voice of Bruce Campbell is not a mentor. He sarcastically walks you through a tutorial
Gizmos Monster Gandalf is the lotr equivalent of an Archangel. He's not supposed to lead or teach. He's meant to guide and pull strings to ensure the safety of middle earth
Gizmos Monster He were not mentor tho. He were an more of an person too guide people on the right path. Gandalf even said too Frodo about Bilbo "I really did not do that much, i just help your uncle with a little push out side the door"
*snort!!* I remember that terrifying woman at the beginning of Spiderman 3 but I never knew what happened if you messed up the quick time event....that was actually legitimately hilarious X'D
Thing is, this list is about "evil" too. Playing you like a fiddle and abusing your allies whenever your back is turned still qualifies her as a bad mentor.
Isn't every mentor from the assassin's creed franchise rubbish? It's not just henry from syndicate and achilles from ac3, or Al Mualim in ac1, or even Bellec from unity... wait, is this the plot for every single assassins creed game ever?
If you think Achilles Davenport is a bad mentorr in AC3, you haven't played ACRo yet... But yes, basically every AC game outside of the Ezio trilogy had terrible, terrible mentors.
"Mentors are supposed to be wise, Gandalf-like people." Remembers several times in The Hobbit when Gandalf just kind of fucked off when Bilbo and the Dwarves needed him the most.
I love Jane's skit about Star Wars having multiple horrible mentors. My kinda humor =D I actually wonder if Darth Treyas / Kreia had a point... Ellen's Connor opening is hilarious too.
how about palpatine in star wars episode 3 the game, who mentors anakin into murdering jedi children and conquering the galaxy? or obi wan for failing to mentor anakin into not doing that
Good Points. However, I totally disagree with Video about Rahm Kota, who makes a valid point. Just because you can do something doesnt mean you should. In this case, killing Emperor. They seem to have forgot the Emperor wanted him to kill him. I always found Anakin correct in Revenge of the Sith, you just cannot kill someone, they need to atone for what they done. In this case, Windu wanting to kill Palpatine. While Palpatine was the Senate, Anakin was correct in the end. The Republic fell apart, a Civil War beings and the Jedi are wiped out. None of this happened if Mace would have arrested him.
Henry Green isn't a mentor to Evie and Jacob Frye. He just happens to be the only Assassin still operating in London and the one in charge of managing its base. This is also why he's not good in the field because by that point, Assassin roles became more specialized, and he was trained more in the support role than in combat operations. Jacob and Evie's mentor was the guy in the beginning who told them not to go to London.

Even after all these years, I still don't get the hate Connor gets. Is it because he's human and driven by his emotions, compared to Altaïr the killing machine and Handsome Ezio?
Mathieu Pr Connor ia more human character and really love him for it. In fact AC3 along with AC1 are my favorite in the franchise.
Mathieu Pr I had no issue with his voice acting. I guess people has an issue with his stoic attitude. I'd say it was delivered very well.
Connor is fairly bland but I think it's mainly because he replaced Ezio the goddamn best character in the franchise. Hard act to follow.
Achilles wasn't a bad mentor. He was just reluctant after what happened to Shay(most of the entire assassin brotherhood in America was destoried)
His death was so sad, he didn't live long enough to see his final student succeed😭😭😭😭
I know man
and also shay defected and joined the templars after that incident in rogue.
What happened with Shay is a prime example of Achilles being a truly awful mentor.
He sounds like a bit of a heel.
"not Achilles, my one weakness" xD lmao
I guess you could say he was her Achilles Heel XD
(yeah i know thats the joke)
omega5040 I guess he doesn't make his own luck huh
Blake chandler
He never forgot.
omega5040 I get it. :D
i watched this video three times and I never noticed that
Are they gonna mention --
"Beware of spoilers for the following games:"
Okay yeah she's on there
Well, at least Kreia taught the Exile that things are not as black and white as the Sith or the Jedi Code.
"I can't leave you!"
*light grumble of the earth*
*runs away*
What about Paladin Danse? He invites you into the brotherhood after one mission in which you nearly kill him with fire. Then he tells you that synths are bad and that you should kill them but he's a synth.
Preston Garvey is much, much worse.
Loved Connor as an assassin and love Achilles even more! I would still kill to play the story of Achilles, the former slave who ends up in a mansion in New England! Imagine who his targets were!
"i wouldn't want to piss her off" you shouldn't have said that Jane. now we know that kreia is one of the few people you fear. find a few more and we can stop your evil " every city is jane city" plan.
Your wrong she just implies that Kreia is her but with dressup and tries to explain that u shouldnt fuck with Jane or u'll be next labrat
Kreia is Jane's grandma. Why do you think we don't have force powers anymore? Jane succeeded in killing it off
Adam II it's a joke. Don't be so serious.
Well, that and spiders
I fucking love the "I'm going to die" from spider man
The Spiderman tutorials were my absolute favorite! XD
Those are hilarious. Especially when you end up falling on the floor in front of the poor victim. My kind of humour xD
Feature Length
Madness, not Chaos.
Peter No, I'm just so devoted to madness that I can't keep my gods straight. Get on mine level, neonate.
What about Batman in Arkham Knight who screws over nearly every member of the bat family over the course of the game
How ???
He locked Robin away, leaving him vulnerable to being kidnapped.
Told Nightwing to get lost. His help could’ve been of use.
Jason Todd is self explanatory
Conner was a great Assassin and a great character. If you play the game with an open mind and from the eyes of Conner, you realize he's a very deep and well developed character.
Couldn't stop laughing at the Spider-Man part. Loved the sarcasm there lol.
Hey, I liked Achilles. He saved my life twice and I played checkers with him.
Thx.
Nilus But he taught me how to wall run and left me a sick mecha! He's the best mentor ever!
No offense, but every Grunt can wallrun. And guess what ppl would say about you if the IMC had gotten the vanguard building plans!
Nilus but wall running and mecha are so cool.......
Nilus Also to be fair his only real offense is dying to early which all mentors do except for ironically Mentor the originator of the term.
Nilus don't forget he didn't even bother to finish the tutorial and show you how to pilot a titan!
"Also, he shot Rebecca!"
And I'll never forgive him for it.
Hey Rahm Kota survived order 66, he's clearly not that too bad of an ally!
The faint off-camera "What?!" at 6:51 was my favorite part.
You spoke ill of Bruce Campbell! RHEEEEEEEEE!!!!
12:05
First off, OH MY GOD, WHAT'S WRONG WITH HER EYES?
Second, that clip is hilarious
The Achilles' heel joke! It hurts!
It's not either Shay or Achilles being bad, it's that the stories have shit tons of plotholes in them
Big Welcome to Ellen and Luke! glad to have Outside Xtra on my subscribed list! Plus, ellen is such an adorable little thing! keep kicking ass everyone!
so I am not the only one who failed that quick Time Event in Spider-Man 3
Mujaahid Bumphus I purposely did it to see the face plant
Mujaahid Bumphus that segment is one of my favorite clips of all time. I've watched it about 20 times ahaha
I still laugh for a solid minute every time I see "I'm gonna die! **BOOM**
@@Ongomar same 😂
Its meme-worthiness is second only to "Press F to Pay Respects".
"This is the bullet board. Catch my friendliness pellets!"
~Flowey in Undertale (paraphrased)
What about Sun Li the Glorious Strategist from Jade Empire? That guy literally trained you to be killed by him
The Doctor Forever - I came down here just to see if anyone mentioned this lol
Great Mentor? Vader is straight up USING Starkiller.
But he did train him pretty well
I'm surprised Adam Malkovich from the Metroid franchise wasn't brought up, especially since he's literally more helpful when he's dead in Fusion than he ever was in Other M.
Yago Woebcken Garcia Embracing eternity with Mornanth in ME2.
Killing Ryoji in Persona 3.
Just saying.
Also, probably the only one to get that.
That clip from spiderman gets me everytime
New drinking game, take a shot every time Ellen brings up Tomb Raider across all of the Oxtra vids, and then promptly die from alcohol poisoning.
I love it when the veteran Oxbox team appear on this channel, I'm sure they're _great_ mentors for Outside Xtra. Right?
At least Greenie gave us some guns and a badass Gurkha knife. All Achilles game me was sass and a kick to the shins.
Kreia was an awesome teacher. And one of the most enjoyable characters I've ever known.
I love the helpful mentors in dark souls. the kind advice they give has guided me through many difficult challenges.
Well you can't spell mentor without torment
You can if you don’t have a place to store that extra t
You tormentor. And it is, you can't spell tormentor without mentor.
in the spiderman part the girl "im going to die" i literally died XD
XD That "Spider-Man we are today" clip took me so off guard I couldn't stop laughing
*Spoilers for Birth By Sleep, just in case:*
He almost kills Ventus by forcefully extracting the darkness from his heart, and he manipulates Terra into succumbing to his darkness so that Master Xehanort can essentially hijack Terra's body, AND he almost destroys the world to summon Kingdom Hearts... OUT OF CURIOSITY. Oh, and he effectively causes all the bad stuff that happens from Kingdom Hearts 1 through Kingdom Hearts 2, and everything in between (that is, all the handheld games). Presumably Kingdom Hearts 3, too.
Darth Traya, not Darth Trayus! For shame, for shame! Take those geek credentials and tear them up pronto!
2:25, to quote the Great Darth Helmet... "so you see, evil will always triumph. because good, is dumb"
REALLY? Achilles was on this list because he died of old age what the hell do you expect him to do magically live to 300? Achilles was an amazing mentor
and also he regretted what happened in assassin's creed rogue.
Love how two of these mentors are also on their list of people you absolutely didn't expect to betray you.
One could say vader threw all that training....out the window.....That dad joke hurt, I'm going back to my corner.
Anytime's the right time for an Allo Allo reference! So much sharp, clever humour in this episode.
What about the Narrator from Stanley Parable?
Here's a spin: how about the high chaos ending in Dishonored? It's a stretch since the *player* is the mentor, but I raise an eyebrow* at Corvo's "murder is the solution" approach to raising young children who are to become sovereigns. (I did like Emily's evil paintings, though.)
* You may interpret this as, "I raise an eyebrow at my own behavior as a so-called hero," but I shaved my eyebrows off in that regard as soon as games started giving me rifles and places to hide.
I couldn't leave you * leaves *
I love how the blind guy looks back to see the explosion
In AC: Syndicate Henry is not a mentor. In fact Jacob and Evie ignored their mentor and went to London. In the Spiderman games the disembodied voice of Bruce Campbell is not a mentor. He sarcastically walks you through a tutorial
the1stJZ someone piss in your cheerios m8
Pretty sure teaching the player how to play the game counts as mentorship.
I love the Allo Allo mention. That was a great show, and you're right. The accent sounds right out of it. Well played, Ellen...'s scriptwriter. XD
For some reason, I heard "Gandalf", but I thought I heard "Ganandorf", and I was very confused.
Achillies was a great mentor... The Relationship between him and Connor reminded me of Bruce Wayne and Terry McGuinnes...
Gandalf was terrible too though :p
Gandalf was really more of a guide and instigator than mentor though.
Where is my sword and whip when I need it
Only to say he killed my best friend Harry!
*snort!!* I remember that terrifying woman at the beginning of Spiderman 3 but I never knew what happened if you messed up the quick time event....that was actually legitimately hilarious X'D
Kreia? Guys, don't mix "evil" with "incompetent". Kreia played the Exile like a fiddle, and that was her goal all along.
Thing is, this list is about "evil" too. Playing you like a fiddle and abusing your allies whenever your back is turned still qualifies her as a bad mentor.
I couldn't breathe when Spider-Man faceplants into the fire. You guys are awesome.
"Mentors are supposed to be wise, Gandalf-like people."
Remembers several times in The Hobbit when Gandalf just kind of fucked off when Bilbo and the Dwarves needed him the most.
Bruce was awesome!
I liked that he mocked me.
I love Jane's skit about Star Wars having multiple horrible mentors. My kinda humor =D
I actually wonder if Darth Treyas / Kreia had a point...
Ellen's Connor opening is hilarious too.
am I the only one who actually liked Connor?
corey thurman I did, not sure why they always shit on him but it's kinda annoying. 🤷🏾♂️
The problem is that he is an okay character that followed the best character in the AC series.
I liked him too
Did anybody not question why every AC protag Has the eagle vision
As...interesting...as Unity is, I did appreciate that they tried to show Arno’s abilities differently, on that note.
Can't believe you showed that Spider-Man clip. I'm cracking up!! xD
how about palpatine in star wars episode 3 the game, who mentors anakin into murdering jedi children and conquering the galaxy? or obi wan for failing to mentor anakin into not doing that
Connor O'Brien successfully conquering the Galaxy sounds great to me
Good Points.
Dude all the mentors in Star wars are huge disappointment starting from Yoda.
