Hey guys, Doug from Erwin. The Rattlesnake is a Timber Rattlesnake. The one you saw is a yellow phase, they also can be a black phase. The only other venomous snake you might encounter on the AT is the Copperhead. Hope you enjoyed your encounter.

Hi there! I finally was able to eat h #14!!! Love all the pretty flowers, dogs, and moths but NOT the snake - ugh!!
Hope the pizza was good!!! The little town, Marion, looked pretty neat. I would think the Relax Inn was a bit more comfy than the shelter!!
I really like the raised wood walkways. Those are pretty cool!
Going under the power line - laughed at Micah telling you to go first!! And Micah, you're a hero - saving the little deer!!!
So, for you sing along with singers at the one camp?!? Those Whippoorwills were loud. I imagine it was a long night - agh!!
