It's hard to watch Chris be painfully unaware of trolling.

Obviously the guy is trolling, I can’t say I’ve ever watched any of his content but may have seen the name in passing and can also recognize a troll. But…… I think within that trolling he is still very uneducated or miseducated on the subject and is also trying to come across his audience as at least somewhat educated. So it’s fair to say he will get at least one uneducated person to vote like him but more than likely a substantial amount…. And that’s what’s sad.

For context around 2015-2019 there was this clique of really edgy youtube channels whose appeal was that they did a bunch of shocking, surreal, and offensive humor, and this guy was a part of that group. Like this guy had a video where they shaved his head and baked his hair into a cake and he pretended to be a cancer patient for the rest of the video. It was all just stupidity for the sake of being shocking

I'm not saying "is this how young people view politics?" - I'm saying this IS how some people view politics (young, old, and in between)
That's just it though. This IS how a lot of young people view politics. When conversation with my students strays towards politics or history, more often than not I'm staggered by the level of confident ignorance that permeates their logic, and many of them use that logic to form their whole worldview.

Just for a bit of context, because I am well aware of who this guy is and the content he does:
iDubbbz is a content creator from the early 2010s and prior. He specializes in crass humor and incessant amounts of dirty jokes. He takes nothing seriously and works to be as offensive as possible online. Never expect a serious video out of him.
That said, his flavor of humor is entirely what helped craft my generation of viewers, those who were born in the early 2000s, so he's an icon of an earlier time tyat many still remember. The internet wouldnt be the same without him.

VTH, love your vids and for context this guy is a comedic youtuber and most(if not all) of his content is satirical. In the mid 2010s he would say some extremely provocative things in his videos that are far 'worse' than this, so don't take him too seriously. He's actually intelligent from what I remember, but he's playing a sort of character here.

6:00 - I used to believe this, but after the pandemic, I think we're very ill-equipped to deal with crisis nowadays.
People are too tribal, social media has amplified division, adversarial countries have weaponized disinformation, and everything has become too political. It's depressing.
I agree. It's a very optimistic view of humanity, and I don't think it was accurate even when he said it, and certainly isn't today. I suspect, though, that Reagan probably didn't really believe it either. I'd bet he saw it simply as an inspirational way to reinforce his point, in a setting where the whole purpose was for nations to work together for common good.

As someone who watched iDubbbz (regretfully haha) in my younger years, I can fully and totally say he is 99% completely kidding with a lot of these takes. But I totally enjoyed the video and how you still added in bits and pieces of history
