- St. Margaret's Peru hospital closed it's obstetrics wing and it's hospital doors for good at the end of January. Now there are patients and expectant mothers who are scrambling to figure out how and where they are about to give birth. This closest hospital is over 20 minutes away.
The hospital closure also creates a medical desert in this county.
