Riding Michigan's only alpine slide - The Crystal Coaster at Crystal Mountain

The Crystal Coaster, built in 2009, is like a luge track. But there's no ice, the sled you're on is a bit more comfortable, and riders sit up straight. Riders take a chairlift to the top of the mountain. Then they get to fly down on the coaster. Two parallel runs twist down 1,700 feet to the bottom of the ski hill.

Ok I'm going to try to be positive here because I was looking for a video to show what the alpine slide was like and you delivered. However, I think this could have been about a 3 min video. I fast forwarded to 7:40 when the ride actually starts.

Ya, for us tourists it's pretty neat. He went over a list of items of interest. The Alpine part was neat. Really loved seeing the mechanics of the sled a real look under it. Wow, wheels and now I can't wait for my next Summer vacation to the Mitten.

This is a short track.I've been lucky enough to ride the one in Winter Park,CO and the one near Jackson,NH.Both those tracks are 3,000 feet long.

I go to Michigan every year and stay in crystal Mountain. I love going on the alpine slide, there’s a problem though. It goes very slow if you don’t way a lot. Once, my cousin and her mom went together probably 4 years ago and crashed. Thankfully, they only got a tiny scratch. My cousin now goes on the slide alone and my aunt hasn’t been on the alpine slide ever since😂
