  • My first look and impressions of the Wise Owl Outfitters Camping Hammock. It's Amazon's #1 seller in hammocks and at a great price as well.
What do you think of this hammock? Or do you have a favorite I should take a look at sometime?

Correction: BOTH straps have 5 loops. Sorry for the confusion in the video.

For camping bigger is better. Longer and wider. The double will be more comfortable and allow you to lay on a diagonal more. Most of your premium hammocks are about 11’ long 5-6’ wide. Under 5’10” tall a 10’ hammock works great. Also add a ridgeline for consistent setup. Its a deep dive and lots to learn. Well worth exploring.

Interesting. Both straps should be exactly the same. Single loop end is for the strap-to-tree side. Other end should be many loop sections for adjustments. I love my parachute hammocks. I never thought to wrap straps around the trees to shorten them though. Always do once around trees.

I'm sorry about the confusion, I was wrong in the video so I pinned the correction at the top in the comment section. As for wrapping the straps, it's actually all I could think of lol. I'm glad it worked.

I just want to note something as a Decades long hammock camper, those Carabiners are absolute trash, I wouldn't sleep on those and would recommend ordering some decent ones from REI or your nearest outfitter, Black Diamond - MiniWire Carabiners are 7 bucks each and can actually be trusted in an emergency situation. take those garbage ones off and use them for your keys or on a backpack.

Thanks for highlighting the hammock deal. I think you need to research hammocking a bit more. For one, I believe you need to set up the hammock with more sag to allow you to lay diagonally and attain a level lay. Otherwise, you might experience knee pain (hyper extension) in a banana lay position as you were demonstrating. Hammock forums is a great place to start. Shame only one strap has the adjustments...but I guess you can tree wrap to take up slack if needed. Thsi video is a bit old already, so maybe you gleaned all that already. Happy hanging.

Thank you for the tips I appreciate it, but thanks to other viewers like you giving great advice, I have since fixed all of those issues. I'm hoping someone new to hammock camping reads your comment, I'm sure it will help them. 👍

Both straps are 9ft long but you will lose some length when you anchor around trees. This will also vary depending on the thickness of the trees but they work great and both straps have loops for plenty of adjustment. It's a great piece of gear. 👍
