I’m a cruise ship singer coming on the 14th on the Valiant lady for my first cruise as a guest ever! I have a few friends working on board and I hope to meet you too! I’ve been loving your videos.

Out of all the cruise ships that I've been on so far, the cuisine offered on the Scarlet Lady has been the best. The problem now is I think that I have been completely spoiled. The test kitchen was an amazing experience. I did a cocktail pairing which was awesome and my favorite thing there was the "mushroom." I even liked the blue cheese even though a lot of people can't seem to tolerate it. I can't wait to go back and try some of the restaurants that I didn't get a chance to do on my last sailing!

Also big thumbs up to Sir Richard Branson for treating the non officer employees like they should be! I can tell the joy and pride in Lucy's voice,I'm not a huge foodie, and from what I have seen....I'm sold!

Super interesting. I wasn’t going to cruise Virgin but they had a deal I couldn’t turn down. I’m sailing over Christmas in ‘23 and I’m now starting to pay more attention to the food. Thank you for helping 💕

Lucy, I planned to eat mainly at the Galley during my short cruise on Valiant Lady. My 1st meal there as soon as I got on board was miso udon, followed by a salmon poke bowl at the Sun Cafe. Call it a bottomless brunch. Emma’s fan, David, took me to the Wake for dinner on our 2nd night and I had the same veg starter and main you mentioned. I didn’t know you’d eat salmon which David had, followed by the chowder. I also eat fish occasionally though as it’s dear nowadays so that I’m content with veg meals. We both had baked Alaska for desert less waiters’ march David missed. Since we missed 1 night onboard, I couldn’t taste everything from the Galley, pizza or a vegan hotdog elsewhere. I still feel having unfinished business with Virgin. All the more reason to book another cruise on another ship if anything short and affordable 1 is available. I keep it firmly in my bucket list till next time. June

I agree that all the food was amazing! The wait staff does a great job of recommending what to order. There were four of us and the only dislikes the whole cruise was the chocolate gluten free dessert at Pink Agave and the Seafood tower at the Wake. We can't wait to go back on another Virgin cruise!

A large group of us sailed a few weeks ago on the Scarlet Lady and we agree with most of your recommendations except one. The steaks at the Wake were terrible. They were small, tough and not very tasty. The steak at the Italian restaurant Extra Virgin was the best in our opinion followed closely by the Pink Agave. Thanks for the videos!!

Hey Lucy, you should be a food cretic on the ship and write the daily to get people excited about the restaurants on the ships!! I have a burning question...Virgin is no kids under 18....do you feel because of that you might see a bit of naughty things going on?

Another question: While Guest / Crew dating is obviously forbidden, and you have made a video about this, but what are the regulations regarding a guest wanting to treat a crew member to a meal, if they have found them to be really helpful?

    • @CruisingAsCrew
      @CruisingAsCrew  2 ปีที่แล้ว

That should be OK. They have too get permission from their manager and if will have to be when they are not working.

My number one complaint about the restaurants are the menus are stupid difficult to understand. I'd literally pay for picture menus.

Love all of your videos. Thank you! It’s so fun sharing in your adventures.
Can you answer a question? Do the restaurants limit the number of items you can order? Like, are you limited to one starter, one entree and ine dessert? I’ve been on other cruise lines where you can have any number of items you want, you can even order 2-3 ofvthe same entree if you want.
    Thank you!

No--you can order all your tummy can hold. Unfortunately, I often found that I was too full for dessert after and.starter and entre. The food is amazing. My travel companion likes things more spicy than I do, so we obviously had different "favorites" but there is nothing that is not good on the ship. I tried some of the vege offerings as I figured the ship was the place to try those things. The impossible burger was great when I ate it with all the toppings and bun. Not so much when I took a bite of the patty alone...again, individual choice. 14 nights on board and I didn't try everything! Restaurants that we didn't initially think we might like ended up being favorites! We loved the "secret steak" and the salmon at Razzle Dazzle, the pork at Pink Agave as well as the bread pudding, the marinated beef at Gumbae, etc. Hint--the first time we went to Gumbae, the server brought all the popular items--way too much food. The second time, we knew what to order so we just got our favorites. If you aren't into spicy, they can do the chicken with sauce on the side. If you come out of Test Kitchen and aren't satisfied, there is always midnight pizza! Extra Virgin--the cheese plate, the carbonera, etc....

None, although each restaurant will have three or four items on the "naughty list" that you pay for. But you have a lot of options at each restaurant that is included.

Really do love your tips. I do have a question or a video request I guess would be tips for someone who is on a strict carnivore diet. I don't eat sugar fruits most vegetables no rice no wheat no breads no pasta. What opportunities do I have on Virgin everybody who I watch in most of the cruise space is either vegan vegetarian or pretty close

Hi Lucy, I don’t know if you’ll see this but!…
You make awesome cruise/ workplace videos, if you are open to a suggestion from a “foodie”/ fellow food reviewer, if you inserted a photo of EACH food item you are talking about we could get a better idea of the dishes you are recommending. They say we eat with our eyes first. I’m starting a TH-cam travel channel so hopefully our paths will cross one day, so I cam thank-you for the inspiration and information. I haven’t taken “a cruise” as such, even though I crewed on a 147ft. private yacht* for about 4-5 months in 1990, my first booking would be with VV when I earn some euros from my YT Channel and my writing on Medium.
    * A beautiful boat built in the 1920’s for Henry Ford, which has since, sadly, sunk in the English Channel.
