Yeah, they are disgusting people. Not worth the life they are living right now. Compassion is something they cannot process becoz they have no heart. Wonder what their family members have to deal with people like these around.
The reason why women didn't do it was to allow them the time to grieve but if someone wants to, she should be able to do it & I'm glad she did. Not everyone can handle the literal transformation of someone you loved so much when they're cremated. Traditionally they thought men can handle it. But that's not always true. I'm glad she made it happen WHICH btw eliminates the root cause of female infanticide & sexism. Parents have always helplessly looked at their sons to light their pyre (as women can't be allowed even if they wanted to). I'd heard some women were allowed in certain parts of India (then it happened in my family in Covid) but Mandira Bedi doing it makes it 100% mainstream & normal.
The root cause of female foeticide, infanticide, and sexism is much deeper than this fancy ritual thing. Traditionally, women have been being given away to the groom's family after marriage; she is compelled to go and live with them and after that, she is expected to work for the benefit of that family only. So, until and unless those things are going, discrimination against women is here largely to stay.
@@user-bw8yn3zr1s Even when she's literally belonging to the other family, she can't light a pyre there either, exactly the case of Mandira. She wasn't trying to cremate her own family but her husband technically belongs to the in-laws, the same family she's supposed to be a part of after wedding. The deepest greed of people is for moksha and the belief that the eldest son lighting their pyre will help that is somehow the biggest irony wherein some people lose focus of actual good karma for that to happen.
@@muppididivija4876 Yes in my family one just did. Because of covid & lockdown. But this made it more mainstream so that next time someone can't tell Kiran Bedi or us, get a male member.

The act of burying is physically impossible by a grieving female family member. In some places a handful of soil is taken from the family members at home to put it on the grave. Some people does it, some people don't. Women can come by the grave site, but they can only look from distance and have to be strong, can't cry loudly. What Mandira did was really strong... Most women can't be that strong. Lets face it we are emotional. And losing someone is heartbreaking wether you are Hindu or Muslim. Let us respect the dead.

@@kamartaj3010 Definitely young enough to lose her husband
Yeah, they are disgusting people. Not worth the life they are living right now. Compassion is something they cannot process becoz they have no heart. Wonder what their family members have to deal with people like these around.
If women should wear a saree, then men don't deserve to wear a t-shirt.
I know in many places they don't let women do it. But at my place, in my family if a woman wants, she can do it.
Kids, girls, women's are not allowed in funerals coz in old days people used to die of diseases so to avoid it and also emotional thing.
It was never this way, ancient Indian allowed even women for giving last rites. It was the manipulation by patriarchal society, that this rule was introduced. But iam amazed on the fact that she just lost her husband, how can be so insensitive to treat and troll her like that... I mean JUST STOP IT!!! For the sake of HUMANITY STOP IT!
