    Thank you Magiic for featuring me on this powerful song. I’ve received many messages saying that they needed to hear this, thanking us for making this song.
    To all that are hurting: you have a voice. I’m gonna tell you this- TXHOB UA SIAB NTEV! Do not put yourself in a situation where you believe that you cannot get out of because I promise you, you CAN get out of it. You WILL get out of it. Reach out. I am here to support you.

    Omg this song hits deep 😭 Lost my cousin to suicide. She had wanted to leave her abusive marriage, but her parents & older brother told her to go back. She took her own life weeks later leaving behind 3 young kids. As a community, we need to change our mindset and the toxic beliefs of this culture. We need to love, value & support our Hmong mothers, daughters and sisters ❤️

      Shame on her brother and her parents! They did this to her. They could’ve saved her. I hope they live with guilt everyday knowing the fact that they could’ve saved her from evil but they cared more about their face and reputation.😡I hope her brother took this as a lesson learned and don’t treat his daughter’s the way he did his sister. Smh. Sorry for your loss. Rip to her. 😔

    These lyrics runs deep.
    I'm a domestic violence survivor of 14 years and this hits extremely close to home. It's time to stand up for ourselves and worry less of what the elders or community label us women as. We have to live for us and put our happiness above anything and anyone else. Thank you for this powerful song!

    Listening to this song brings tears to my eyes, it hits home for me. No one knows how it truly feels to walk in the shoes of a domestic violence relationship/marriage in the Hmong community. A lot of times the victim chose not to speak out due to the fact that they've lost hope in seeking help, therefore, they continued to endure the pain. Thank you Magiic Hang for making this song dedicated to us Hmong sisters.

    I believe there is a reason behind why the Hmong Man is the lead in this piece. This piece is dedicated to all the Hmong Women who are going through similar situation. Hmong Women have been speaking out for way too long without the support of a Hmong Man. This piece.. is the support for all the Hmong Women out there who's voice went in one ear and came out the other.

    For the ones who don't understand the concept of this song; Magiic is rapping from the bride's perspective. "Ua siab ntev" (be patient) is a common advice or phrase most parents and elder Hmong relatives who do the consulting between the disputing spouses give. In traditional Hmong families and marriages, this sentiment is echoed even on the wedding day; "you bare your husband's shame as you are a part of his family this day going forward." Unfortunately, as the domestic abuse repeats, that advice falls on deaf ears until the bride/daughter is killed by her husband. - This leads to me elaborating more on the chorus on this song sung beautifully by Douachi Yang. She sings that as the bride/daughter, she has gone back to her parents and friends seeking refuge and protection but the typical response is just, "Be patient and go back to your husband" in a nut shell.
    As far as this song goes, I love it! It's different as rarely do we have a male artist expressing lyrically through the opposite gender. The lyrics were beautiful and flowed naturally. This was a great collaboration and well-produced. Douachi has this raspy tone and the haunting beat fit the chorus perfectly; it's a breath of fresh air as opposed to most high pitched Hmong female singers. I wish I could purchase a copy of this song on iTunes as a show of support to fellow and local Hmong artists. Your hard work should be compensated. Thank you for a beautiful song and shedding light to everyday struggles our Hmong people face within.

      It's difficult carrying tradition through American lifestyles even as a son. Not knocking on your post but just saying good that you got out of an abusive relationship. Too many women go back to their abusive exes and then play the victim card as if the guy could change within a few weeks. I just don't buy that. Glad to hear a sister not going back.

    • @mylifejthao
      @mylifejthao 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mrjjthor it’s hard both ways. It’s the way we were raised that makes it’s so hard to live the way we want. I understand why some people choose to go back. I lost count on how many times I went back to my ex until I finally started to believe that I can do it without him and my family. It was a struggle for sure when your own family don’t support you. They don’t believe in divorce. I felt like I didn’t want to let them down and my kid down. But I soon realize I was putting my self down. I was so unhappy and I try to force myself to be happy with him. Just thinking about it makes me so sad but made me stronger. My advice to everyone is you can’t force someone to love you the way u want to be loved. Only you can love yourself and if that person is truly worth it they will love u back as while!

    Sadly, a man's voice is more powerful than a woman's voice in all societies today. Please continue being a male ally for women. Please continue to empower women and listen to them and feel empathy for them and hold each other (other men) accountable.

    • @Maloha486
      @Maloha486 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agree with everything some women say and you’re called an ally. Suggest something and you're accused of taking up space when you need to sit back and listen. Question narrowly constructed conclusions and you’re accused of silencing women. Dare to disagree and all the sudden “you are part of the problem” or at best, you’re mansplaining. And some women wonder why there aren’t more “allies.”

    • @mrjjthor
      @mrjjthor 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I hold both men and women accountable. I'm against men hitting women and I tell women in a abusive relationship not to return back to their abusive exes after they have split. However, sometimes they go back on their own thinking the man has changed. Seen it happen too many times. If you got away from the crazy ex then it's best to stay away especially if he isn't threatening you.
      My wife is from a previous abusive marriage and before we met she tried to go back to her ex thinking things will be different since he "claimed" he's changed. I've also seen it happened too many times where the woman chooses on her own to go back. Smh.
      So ladies if you are able to separate from an abusive ex then please stay away. If you go back to him then you are responsible for your own bad decisions and this is where women needs to be held accountable for their actions.
      Men, if you hit your women out of anger then you need to go to jail. There's nothing manly about beating your woman.

    • @mrjjthor
      @mrjjthor 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Maloha486 speak your mind whether you get shamed or not. I'm empowering women by holding them accountable for making poor decisions by going back to a crazy ex or choosing a bad boy who they knowingly knew was a bad person to begin with.

      🤣

    • @UabLag
      @UabLag 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Maloha486 it's hard to be an ally because you have to be so careful so that you're not offending anyone and causing harm in ways you weren't aware of that would cause harm. You have good intentions but as an ally, you will constantly have to be reflecting on your own biases and the language you're using. It's hard to be an ally when you're from the group that is causing the most harm. If I were a man, I'd probably get defensive too when ppl say men are abusive, but I have to know that it's my job to hold myself accountable to make sure I'm not speaking in ways that empower bad men to be abusive. When women talk badly about men, I gotta try to be patient and understand that they arent talking about me. We need more male allies because in the end, we arent fighting men. We are fighting the patriarchy and toxic masculinity that hurts men first and hurts women second in the form of misogyny. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. For example, I want to be an ally for black lives matter, but I cannot really speak on anything since I only see thru my eyes and have never experienced racism as a black person, so all I can do is listen and share or repeat the content of the black voices that are already speaking on tiktok or facebook.

    The song hits close. These are the values instilled in us by our beloved culture. How can we be brave when our whole entire lives we were bred to submit, yield and bow our heads to the man? I know so many couples where the man cannot keep a job, drinks every weekend and beats the wife while she pays the bills, raise the children, work full time, clean the home, cooks, and is still not good enough. When she finds the strength to raise her voice, she is abused into silence. When she finds courage to reach for support, she is instead shamed to stay. And when she leaves, he comes for her life. Some men often ignorantly comment, “not all men are the same.” Let me say this: fortunately, not all men are the same, however, this is a given and anyone who is commenting as such, is the same.

    All too often Hmong women are seen as objects, and it's sad how we have not evolved with society. I'm not saying to let go of the Hmong culture, tradition and values, but for the Hmong community to stop being scared of "ruining face", but instead help the ones in needs. The ones that need help the most are the ones silently crying for help. We all need to come together to teach our future kids the right and wrongs so that we can help stop domestic violence and help those in need when they see it. This song is so strong and powerful! It is one step closer to making a difference!

      @@ellenxiong2103 so why make it a Hmong thing? That's an issue with Hmong people as well. We like to belittle ourselves because...?
      Y'all point to being a "nyab zoo" as toxic, but the root of that isn't talked about at all. You're literally being bought. The "nyab zoo" is looked down upon yet the "nyab 10k" is always sarcastically joked about. It's a mockery that should actually be taken more serious and gotten rid of. If you're being treated like property from the beginning idk why you'd expect that to change.

      @@fatee5069 I believe everyone has different views on how they interpret on what “nyab 10k” and “nyab zoo” is. That varies from person to person and from gender to gender. But to answer your question, the issue is with society, like how I stated in my last comment. some men see woman as objects. See how I said some men and not all men?
      This is just like the BLM movement. All lives can’t matter until BLM. Now to put that into a Hmong perspective, some men still see women as weaklings. They can’t take care of themselves. If they have a higher education than men then they are thought to be uncontrollable and so on. They are thought of as second instead of standing next to their husband. That’s just to name a few. And like I said, not all men will think like that about their S/O.
      This is also why my first comment talks about teaching our future kids about right and wrong so that we don’t have to come down to losing a daughter, and In other cases, son’s, to domestic violence. It starts with us teaching future generations so that they don’t see their S/O other as property. That’s how we can slowly stop domestic violence

To be a Hmong woman who leaves her family to be with a man who treats her like shit whether it be physically, emotionally, mentally and then turn to family who says to 'ua siab ntev' is so heartbreaking... How can a woman who is hurting so much contain her pain and keep it under wraps while she feels like she is dying on the inside yet suppress her emotions to perform her motherly/wife 'duties?'

    This song hits me hard. The people I know have been there. I give them advice to leave asap, but I can't do nothing but support them on whatever choice they made and be there when they need me to be there to listen. Breaks my heart everytime they told me of what happened to them.

    Don’t marry into a Hmong family. My sister was in a situation and my dad said that’s their problem to deal with. I said, “Dad, when will you intervene? Will you finally intervene when the police finds her decomposed body in the back of his car?” He called her to come home real quick.

    it might be problematic to you that a man is singing the pov of a woman, but to others it may give them some sense of relief and comfort knowing that again, a man understands their pain and what they’re going through. that at least someone knows that their brother is doing something so sinful. try to understand why the artist drew such fine details instead of just staring at the picture and blinking your eyes at it.

    First of all, my prayers and heart goes out to the families of our sisters who’s lives were cut short. They were gone too soon. May they all rest in peace and away from pain.
    Love everything about this song! Lyrics is so deep! Would be awesome if a girl sing it instead. However, this song brings tears to my eyes. As a Hmong woman myself, to save faces most of our Hmong parents will always end up saying "ua siab ntev" until one is gone 10ft deep then they say "ua cas tsis ua ib siab."
    I hope that as time goes by our younger generation will change for the better. Both boys and girls should be loved and appreciate regarding if the woman was to step out and married into another family.
    Love & respect her, just like you would want your daughters to be loved!

      That's what i tell men and women. If you don't care about carrying a status title then leave your partner and own up to it. Too many don't want to be at fault, be labeled a divorcee, etc., and then stay and then play the victim card. Kudos to you.
