I attended this event at Al's house and Soquel High School when I was a 11 year old kid. I remember sitting on the side wall watching Ron Simcue, Brian Oldfield and others warming up before the event and Brian Oldfield let one go that blew all the way out of the arena and stuck into the the back earth wall, about a 73-74 foot throw. Al's back yard stopped at about 71 feet or so. Brian said something like "...can I count that one as my first throw"? We all laughed~
